Illustrator :: Making A Map-style Blowup Section?

Sep 26, 2013

I'm working on a vector map and I'd like to be able to take a section of it and blow it up to the corner in typical map manner.  I was able to accomplish what I was trying to do in Photoshop: [URL] but 1. it's pretty obvious where the non-vectored parts are, and 2. I'd like to keep the workflow for these as simple as possible (i.e. in a single program).  I got part of the way there with the Crop pathfinder tool, but it only includes shapes and not paths in the cropped selection (so no roads or rivers).

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Alignment Style - Section - Line Marker In Section

Mar 26, 2012

C3D 2012...but this feature has probably been in C3D for sometime

1-What is a 'Line Marker in Section' Section component of an Alignment Style?

2-How is it used (example )?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Section View Style

Jul 27, 2010

We have a project where the alignment is not in the center of the section (it's along one edge of the project), but we want the Title Annotation ("STA. 165+00") to show up in the center of the sections.

If you choose "Center" justification in the style, it "centers" it about the zero offset, which in our case is actually the left side.

Is there any way to truly center this call, short of turning it OFF and manually creating separate labels?

Unfortunately, I can't use "Center" and give it a "Y" offset, because the alignment does vary slightly (±30 feet) within these 250' cross sections - which would cause the label to vary by that much also...

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Section Editor Code Set Style

Sep 18, 2012

Every time I go into Section Editor while working on my corridor I have to reset my Code Set Style Selection. Its not even like I am exiting and re entering the drawing, just the Section Editor. Is there a specific place C3D looks for that style when you enter the editor?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Changing Section Style / Colour?

Jul 8, 2011

I want to section my assemblies to show some internal detail, but sometimes it is hard to tell what is part of the cut and what isn't.

Is it possible to colour the sectioned area red instead of having it look like a slice through a block on concrete?

By the way, this is in the model environment, not the drawing environment.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Code Set Style Not Consistent In Section View

Mar 29, 2012

I've been having the issue with code set style and making the section view to look the way I want. I created a new code set style and it shows perfectly the way I want in the assembly. When I create the section views, I specify the sections to have the same code set style, but for some reason, it shows up in a different color.

I provided an example showing the fence line as an assembly and in section view. For "mysterious" reasons, the color is different in the section view than in the assembly. And I've checked many time in the section view properties and assembly properties to make sure that both are displaying the same code set style.

AutoCAD Architecture :: 2D Section Slab Edge Style Cleanup?

Feb 26, 2013

I have a slab with a edge style for a thicken slab (haunch).  I have the materials for both objects identical.  When I make a 2d section, the slab on top of the haunch does not clean up with the haunch on the bottom.  When I go ACA out of the box slab & slab edge styles, there is a thicken slab (slab with haunch) live section the way it should look.  I can't reproduce it even when I bring it in to my drw. from the out-of-box  Does it have something to do with 2d section?  This might sound simple but I'm just not able to figure it out how to make things cleanup.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Section Band Style - Design Levels At Grade Breaks - No Triangles

Feb 26, 2012

What I would like to achieve is a section band style for bulk earthworks and simple access roads that shows the design level at Grade Breaks only. The problem I am having is that Grade Breaks are being recognised as where the sample line crosses a triangle, not where the the grade actually changes/crosses a feature line.

A have a number of simple platforms, that I have created using an infill from feature lines, usually these platforms are surrounded entirely by feature lines of the same height. As to be expected, Civil 3d creates a few flat triangles, and as a consequence, all of the points where the sample line crosses these show up on my band style. Is there any way to achieve this band style?

I know I can cut this out and paste it onto an Artboard, but I am curious about the capability in Illustrator.

Illustrator :: Erase Section Of Stroke Without Changing The Rest Of It?

Jul 29, 2013

I have made a circular crest type image with a uniquely defined stroke (so it looks like a stamp). I want only the outside of the stroke to be bump and the inside be smooth (of the circle). Before I was just layering other white circles over it but now I need the inside to be transparent. Is there a way I can convert my stroke into an object so I can easily erase the bumpy inside? How else can I get around this? Top image is what I have, bottom image is what I want. Only to have a transparent center.

[URL]........

I just want to create a section from the point cloud, but the point cloud won't allow me to select it as an object in the 'Generate 2D/3D section' dialogue as it's not a solid/surface.

On an unrelated note, I find snapping to the point cloud impossible - is there an option in OSNAP that I'm missing? I've tried this with attached PCGs and RCP point clouds, no difference.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Can't See Corridor Section In Section Views Only Existing

Mar 5, 2012

I think I just haven't done this in a while and can't find the right setting.

I have existing sections.
I have section views.
I created a corridor.

How do I add the corridor section to my existing cross-section in the section views?

I can view them in the corridor section editor.  But I should also be able to add the corridor section to my section views, right?

To plot them, do I NEED to do this through Sheets Sets?  I don't have experience with sheet sets yet.

I don't use Civil 3D often enough anymore.  Still learning much about the new interface and pulling a design together.
