View 7 Replies View RelatedI am wanting to display previews (pngs) of the ai files in the plugin that match search criteria on a button. As the user scrolls through the results, change the button picture to be the png for that ai file. I tested it with a default image in case the image doesn't exist. The test image is cropped to the size of the button.
Â
The pngs are necessarily 600x600 pix. (For other applications). I want to resize them for display on the button.

(The button is only 100x100).

Do I need to use Image/Drawer suites?
I'm wanting to know the best way to draw a tube going through a donut, as in the attached example. I'm guessing it's pretty simple, but I've tried clipping masks, pathfinder etc and can't quite get my head around it. I could just draw it with the pen, but I'm guessing there's a quicker way.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm sure this is a simple thing but it's driving me crazy. Every time I draw a line it gets erased as soon as I try to draw the next one.
View 7 Replies View RelatedImagine you had set up a grid based on little 1x1px boxes.
Â
Wouldn’t it be cool to take your Wacom-Pen and simply color the boxes the way you’d love to?
Â
You could simply set up a solid brush matching your needs …no matter if it’s 1x1 px thin. …or 1000x1000 px heavy.
Â
You could create sharp edged drawings in beautiful colors.
Â
But instead of that solid look, I get shades or halftones even if my brush is set to 1px.
Â
how to create a sharp-edged brush-set-up?
The issue I am having is trying to draw a rounded rectangle and it becomes a perfect circle. I was wondering if this warning below has anything to do with that. I have a project for school that needs to be in by tomorrow and I can't proceed until I find the answer to my problem.

Illustrators Options:
Â
I am using Illustrator CS6 in the options field under the version catagory.
Â
Warning:Â Saving to a legacy format found may cause some changes your text layout and disable some editing features is read back in. Also any hidden Appearance attributes will be discarded.
Only fonts with appropriate permisssion will be embedded.

This is what I see when I try to save in Illustrator options.
I want to draw with my tablet using the paint brush, pencil, or pen, but I want the stroke to be hollow or another color down the middle. Like it has a fill...
Â
I thought I might be able to do this with the blob brush at least, but it doesn't seem to let me draw with a stroke and fill set.
Â
Bellow is a visual of what I'd like to achieve:
Â
I did this by first drawing a line, then outlining the stroke, but the point is I want to be able to draw lines like this as I go, not constantly convert to outlines...
I am trying to create my version of the power-standby symbol, and need to draw a circle with part of it missing in the top. I have tried just about everything, what am I missing?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to draw a straight line using the line tool, but when I hold down the shift button to draw a straight horizontal line it draws it a an angle. vertical line will go straights, but not the horizontal. I also noticed that the cursor now has an has a horizontal arrow with a vertical line at the end of it in the bottom right corner of the cursor when the line tool or shape tool is used. I went into prefrences and checked the constrain angle but it is set at 0 so I am not sure what to do or what happened. It was working fine and then all of a sudden this happened. Is there a button I may have hit that would cause this? how do I get it to draw straight lines again? I just noticed it wont draw 45 degree angles either. it sticks to angles a few degrees above and below horizontal.

I am trying to write a script to draw geometric figures in Illustrator.I want to achieve this by writing an equation into the ESTK, for example x^2 + y^2 =100. This should generate a circle with a radius of 10 units.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've found this tutorial on adding multiple gradients to form a glassy text [URL]....and I never knew you could create multiple gradients on one object.
Â
I can only manage to apply one gradient. On the tutorial it sounds easy to just draw a gradient, then draw another. However it is not that simple; I draw a gradient, then I attempt to draw the second, and it just moves the first gradient.
Â
How does one draw multiple gradients on the same object?
It's me again w/the same tut at: [URL]
Â
Where I am confused is that once the line is drawn from top to bottom and I go to draw the line across the upper area the anchors stay connected.
Â
I tried the Alt key + click to cut the path but (as you advanced folk probably already know) it didn't work.
Â
way to make the bottom Anchor an end Anchor? Does that even exist?
Â
Honestly I am not even sure what I ought to be looking for in the manual etc.
Â
I tried just drawing the shape for the Glossy effect and then filling it with the required gradient but frankly it just looks odd ... it looks flat and basically UGLY
Â
The blue line that goes across is the problem for me.
Â
I should also mention, if you go to the tutorial ... it says that I am suppose to Duplicate the Inner Circle but I made too many goofs and somehow all my layers ended up on one layer so rather than doing what the tut instructs I just made a New Layer and then drew a new circle with the Ellipse tool.
Â
Even so, I actually couldn't grasp why or how I was suppose to go about intergrating the new circle with using the Pen Tool to draw the Glossy effect object. So, I skipped that part and just used the Pen tool to draw the needed shape as shown above in pink.
When drawing rectangles a symbol ( verticle line with arrow pointing to left ) is below and to the right of the cursor, The rectangles are drawn at an angle. How do I draw them horizintally?

Hopefully you can see below, I've drawn the shape on the left and closed the path - it's a closed shape. I then drew another shape on the right, with the two corners exactly placed on the other shape's corners, and I'm getting some sort of overlap/miter join of somesort. Best way I can describe it.
Â
Now I know how to join to open path end points, with the JOIN command. That's not what I'm after here. Simply when I draw another closed shape with the corners matching the other shape, I get those rather awkward and ugly corners? Or can you use the JOIN command? Totally lose here.
Â
Any way to stop this from happening? Surely I'm simply missing something blatantly obvious here?
Â
I guess the question would be: how to draw another shape that joins with the original closed path, without using the pathfinder tools. I want two separate shapes so that I can colour them independently, and not have those horrible corners.
I took a snapshot of a picture off my pdf file and opened it up in illustrator and now it has the circle with the slash through it, how can i edit it and draw on top of the imported image?

I need to draw a centre line with white background on it. Now i'm doing it by pasting the main line in the background and giving it white so that it shows a white backgound. Is there a way to do just by drawing like normal lines. If we can, is it possible to control the white backgound only to show less than the original line in both ends. This is for illustrations i do for exploding views and i need to draw this line to show it as assembly drawing.

i'm currently just calculating the angle at the point I want using the derivative, finding the angle, and then adding 90 degrees to it. But I need the line to be placed at a particular point, and the X/Y properties of the line are based on the ruler which isn't even in the center of the document (I want to position it relative to the artboard). As in, I just want to set the position of one endpoint of the line...
Is there any way of setting draw mode through a script?
I can't find any info.
What I'd like is to set the draw mode to paint inside for a selected path through a script instead of clicking twice on the toolbar button or hit Shift+D twice.

In Illustrator CS6, I would like to draw these trails for a map I'm making. Is there a way I can draw using the "Pencil" tool where when I draw, it draws a second line next to it? Is there a setting for that?
Â
Here is an old map where you can see the double broken lines. I know how to set it so the line has gaps in it, but I need a line to be the same next to it.
According to the tool pallet instructions, I should be able to draw a circle of specific diameter by typing in the "width" dimension, then, according to Illustrator: "you can click on the word Height to copy that value into the Height box." Doesn't work. I've trashed the AI prefs, clicked on the word and on the field, and this simply doesn't work. I assume that I or my system is at fault.
