The "hand symbol" that you can move the page around, how do I deselect it? I tried to select any other tool from the boxes to the left but when I move back the cursor over the page the hand symbol is still there and the only thing I am able to do is to move the page around......

i often do a very big and complex mix of logos names and so on.
i´d like to know if ther is any hotkey on how to move any object or a group of objects from far on the page to the page border.
When I point over any opened image, I just see a hand, even if I have a tool selected.
Non of the images are Read Only.
Is there a way to edit the text in a symbol instance without breaking the link to the symbol?
a really simplen example would be several instances of the same button graphic but with different labels.
I know these things are possible in Fireworks, but couldn't find a way to make it happen in Illustrator.
For cropping part of an image, the cursor virtually snaps to positions according to what the programmer sees in the image. Maybe not always, but that is the way it seems to me in many cases. Even when it does not do so, I find it impossible to move the cursor in very tiny increments by using my mouse. If I were to greatly enlarge the image on the screen to get finer control, then only part of the image would fit on the screen. I want a technique for controlling the selection with as much fine precision as is available when resizing, for example. We can specify hundredths of a millimeter when resizing; very finely precise indeed.
Is there a technique that I can use to have very fine and precise control of a crop, preferably by specifying a movement left-right-up-down using decimal fractions of a unit of distance? The same question applies to using the selection tool.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe are having an odd behavior in Illustrator CS4 in our office. Multiple users try to deselect objects by clicking in blank space, but the last object still appears as if it is selected onscreen. When they select another object (without holding SHIFT), it looks as if the old object AND the new object are selected...but when they delete or otherwise manipulate the newly selected object, it only affects that particular object and does not alter the old object that appeared to also be selected. Although the actual functionality is correct, it is extremely distracting and annoying because it looks like they have more objects selected than they actually do...and they can never really tell what's what!
For one user, this happens frequently when selecting objects with clipping masks. For another, it happens when simply using the selection tool on any old object. All users on Mac Leopard 10.5.5. Aside from resetting preferences which I've had one of the users do.
I'm new to LR4 and after I move the photo corners to use the crop tool, the white hand doesn't appear when I hover over the photo to then move it around....
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I'm working with the pen tool, and create just a stroke (not a full shape), I have to go all the way over to the direct selection tool and click in the margin to deselect that one path. I see people on you to make strokes and deselect the current stroke and make another one with out even flinching towards the direct selection tool.

So if I have 100 lines selected, the result will be only 10 selected lines evenly spread out.
I'm using CS 5.5.
In Illustrator CS6, after running an action involving a Pathfinder effects, the resulting paths are deselected.
Steps to reproduce:
1. create a new action that includes a Pathfinder function, such as Unite or Divide.
2. select a couple shapes on the artboard.
3. run the action.
The resulting shape will be selected automatically.
This is new and very frustrating behavior. I perform many Pathfinder effects, as actions mapped to key combinations, then expect to perform addtional modifications which require me to reselect the paths again.
If I already have an object selected and then click the "new layer" icon in the layers palette, the object I have selected deselects as soon as the new layer is created. Why is this? Also, it only happens on one of my computers, so I figured it was a setting that I'm missing but I certainly can't find it.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a symbol that gets placed in a certian location on a sheet. If the sheet changes size i would like the symbol to relocate itself. Usually i could just find it, delete it and replace it but this one is different. It has 16 prompted entries that may have been populated by the user.
Easy option=Be able to move the symbol.
Difficult option=Load 16 prompted entries into the a dynamic array and replace save the symbol in the new location.
I did some reading on attributes, would adding an attribute to the sheet location allow the symbol to move with it.

1)While selecting multiple objects,
2)a certain script is run. it has an option to input the range of the number of objects that are going to be deselected.
3)The number within the range I inputted is chosen, and the same number of objects are deselected randomly.
Is there any script similar to this?
After I select the north arrow in my cad drawing what format should I save it as?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to build a small photo gallery within Edge Animate. I have a symbol which is essentially 10 images or so side by side, and buttons below that are directional arrows left and right. I want to have it set up where when you hover over one of those buttons, it moves the photo slideshow left and right. I havent been able to find the correct code and it is currently inoperable.
Right now, I have this in the BtnRight symbol, which is the arrow to move the slideshow to the right.

It doesn't work however. Any simple code that I can input into the syntax of the arrow symbols to allow my photo gallery to slide left and right on mouse over?
What governs the location/distance from the object of the "object move symbol" when an item is selected? See attached image. I have selected the blue view reference text but the four way arrow/move symbol is way below it. This isn't using the move command. The arrows can be hard to find in a crowded sheet if it's very far from the item selected.
For reference I have added an image showing the location of the object move symbol for a text item. It's in the upper left corner of the text outline.
AI CS6 Layers panel missing labels when you deselect print in the layer options. Is this a bug? I noticed this on a furnished file at work on a MacPro and had a hard time working the file because all of the labels were missing.
I stumbled on the cause when I turned on the Print Layer and all the labels came back. To be sure it was not computer related, I made a file on my AI CS6 version 16.1.0 with the same result. See screen shot.

How do you change the characteristic of the cursor from Hand (Move Tool) back to just being a pointer? This condition only exists in the Develope Module when my cursor is placed over the top of the photo. When I move it off the photo it returns to a pointer. In the Library Module it is always a pointer like I like it to be.
View 2 Replies View RelatedToday, all of a sudden, two of my most used functions—holding down the space bar to move the image around and holding down CMD-space bar to zoom—just up and quit on me (I do like the "Scrubby" but it took a little getting used to. It's very touch screen-esque).
I did all of the normal trouble shooting such as deleting the prefs, relaunching, restarting, etc. Nothing. The functions work fine in the other CS5 programs.
I checked through all of the prefs thinking that perhaps I accidentally changed something but I couldn't find anything. If all else fails, I'll do an uninstall/reinstall but only as a last resort.
I did notice that Adobe finally fixed the Distort (in Full Screen Mode) bug that was killing me in CS4.
[URL] Bug is where the Hand move (by holding down Space bar and dragging) stops working. Issue appears to be a conflict with web browsers.
This bug is still present in Photoshop version 12.1 (CS 5). I don't use Firefox, I use Safari and Chrome. Quitting Safari did not fix the problem. Quitting Chrome DID fix the problem.
This was very easy to do in earlier versions of Illustrator, but now it seems like the only option is to make a separate artboard for each page tile!

View 8 Replies View RelatedIn the past two days, two-page PDFs that I save out of CS6 are printing with the second page upside down. I have tried resaving the documents—didn't work. Tried saving the documents as individual PDFs and combining the PDFs in Acrobat—didn't work. I have had my colleagues print them, and the second page is upside-down too. When I print two-page PDFs that I saved last week or longer ago, I have no problem at all. It just seems to be happening with recently saved PDFs. I didn't update any software on my computer between saving the PDFs that are printing correctly and when this problem began.

At the moment when I open a new document and create guidelines they only show up on the first page and although it isn't difficult, it's annoying to have to move them manually on to the Master Page, how I can change the CorelDraw settings permanently so that whenever I open a new document and create guidelines they are created on the Master Page?
I've designed a book in Lightroom 4.2 which uses some of the pre-installed "Wedding" graphics as the background on the pages (squiggly line patterns running vertically). This pattern appears on the OUTSIDE of each page in Lightroom, but when I export the book either to Blurb or to PDF, these graphics suddenly move to the INSIDE of each page.

Instead of having to mouse click the "copy" button in the move object window, one could just hold down option with Return or Enter and the Copy command would happen rather than a simple move.
