Illustrator :: Font Scrolling Does Not Work On MacBook In CS 5.5
Sep 5, 2013
I can use the font scrolling in illustrator, this works on a desktop mac. but can't seem to get it to work. tried unchecking enable missing glyph protection. and still doesn't work. What can I do to fix it, i know this works on mac but somehow my laptop wont work.
I'm running on a macbook pro OS 10.7.4 and illustrator 5.5 crashes everytime I open a new document, select the type tool and scroll through the font list from the font menu list. It scrolls about 25% down the list then crashes the software.
I thought after having the newest version of Illustrator I would be able to have a text box selected & scroll through the font list to see the different fonts change on the text using the arrow up/down keys.
I seem to only be able to scroll through 2-3 fonts & then it stops, which is very frustrating because I am so used to doing it in ID & PS.
What I can do? Picking each font one by one is time consuming.
This is something I've always wanted, and don't know if it exists. I'd like to somehow place type in an image, and scroll down the font selections to see the font choice change in the image window (not in the font sample area of the Character Window, or Type Menu line). I know you can click on the font to see it change in the image window,
but ideally I'd like to scroll down the font list, or down arrow down it, to see the font quciky change in my image to pick a font.
I am thinking of buying a Macbook Pro with Retina Display.
I am wondering if Photoshop Elements 11 will work OK with this as I have heard there is a problem. how to make them compatible. I really don't need anything more complicated than elements for what I do so don't want to spend out on one of the CS programmes.
Is there a trick to getting the new Color Range selection function to work on a retina Mac Book Pro? I am quite familiar with the color range selection in the previous version of Photoshop, and used it regularly. I've decided to try as simply as possible by using a flat image (no layers), and trying to select colors. I've increased the contrast in the image to make dark and lights much easier to pull out.
I've explored setting the sample size to point-sample up to 3x3, and 5x5. I've also set the resolution of my display to 2880 x 1800 (to reduce the possibility of anti-aliasing problems). It will not make any selection though, using the eye-dropper sample. Using other options will work, such as Highlights, Shadows, Skin Tones, etc., but it won't do anything with Sampled Colors.
I'm currently using windows 8. OS Version is not related to this issue I think since I'm using both CS5 and CS6.CS6, compared to CS5, scroll increment is just too small, and there's no option for this in CS6. It is a real pain while zoomed in.
in Illustrator CS6 I can no longer use my mouse wheel to scroll the list of fonts [which appear when you click the down arrow next to the font family] in the Character control panel. I could do this in CS5.
I just installed CS6 Design and Web Premium on my MacBook Pro running OS10.6.8. InDesign opened fine, but in the dock Illustrator and Photoshop have diagonal lines through them. I tried opening Illustrator and got this message: "You can't open the application Adobe Illustrator CS6 because it is not supported on this type of Mac." My MacBook Pro is 3-4 years old--a 2 GHz Intel Core Duo, 2GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, Model Identifier: MacBook Pro1,1. I double checked the OS required by CS6 and it's 10.6.8.
Illustrator does not have file>package on my MacBook Pro. Running from the cloud on a New 30 inch iMac and the latest 13 inch MacBook Pro. It has it on the iMac? Both are up to date.
I am having trouble with a file that was originally created in Ai CS6 on an iMac.
When I open the file in CS6 on my 15" Retina Macbook Pro, objects that are mathmatically aligned to the pixel grid do not render properly.
See the screen shot to see what I mean.
The files still renders properly when view on the iMac and new objects in the document are also aligned to the grid, at least from the stand point of how it's render.
I'm having problems trying to launch Illustrator CC on my MacBook. It keeps unexpectedly quiting when trying to open. Below is the link to the error message I am receiving.
I bought a macbook pro and the student suite about 3 months ago. They work fine together (better than the couple windows-adobe), but i've got a problem. Today colors of my macbook suddenly changes when i create a new web-profile file on Illustrator. I inspect my mac wtih the utility colorsync, and this was the result:
/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Color/Profiles/RedBlueYelllow.icc Etichetta 'pseq': Il profilo richiesto non è presente. Non può essere riparato. /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Color/Profiles/Smokey.icc Etichetta 'pseq': Il profilo richiesto non è presente. Non può essere riparato. /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Color/Profiles/TealMagentaGold.icc Etichetta 'pseq': Il profilo richiesto non è presente. Non può essere riparato. /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Color/Profiles/TotalInkPreview.icc Etichetta 'pseq': Il profilo richiesto non è presente. Non può essere riparato.
After opening a file from another designer, this Chinese font has taken over my "omens – regular" font file. Anytime I use it, it converts to this font and each time I need to change a font weight, I must do it manually. As you can imagine, I use our company font all day so this slows me down quite a bit. Have you heard of this? It seems like some sort of font virus. I've researched removing it, yet can't seem to find the original font file to get rid of, which is even weirder."
We tried moving the font family to the trash, emptying the trash, rebooting the machine, and re-adding the font family and it still is happening.
Is there a way to specify a given system font that should be substituted for a given missing font? For example, the document I'm working with contains CourierStd and CourierStd-Bold which are not installed on my system. I would like to set Illustrator so that any time a document that contains these fonts is opened, Courier New and Courier New Bold are substituted automatically.
An eps file opens without any problem with the preview as .pdf on Mac OS 10.7.5In illustrator when I open the same file, the main font is not recognized and no warning said the font is not available.
I am trying to design a vector text-based logo using Adobe Illustrator. Now I have already purchased a font from MyFonts.com which was of type Windows/Mac OS X TTF and Windows PostScript. However when I used this in Illustrator I felt that it was not of a very good quality (Mostly when zooming out the font looked very pixilated).
The (X4) Font Navigator will not work in Windows 7. It is preventing files created on my office computer (windows XP) from opening on my home computer (windows 7)
I am trying to design a banner for a client, that is 20 feet long. And when I highlight the text and make it 500, 600 pt its fins but as soon as I try and change to 700 or 800, it completely disappears and you cannot see the font. Why can't I do bigger than 600?
I have a problem getting my 'What the Font' tool to work - we got a couple of new computers in our art dept a few months ago and ever since then when trying to use this tool I get a message saying 'this hotkey is being used already by this system Please choose another one' , we do have other hotkeys set up for our system but on our older computers we never got this conflict running the same hotkeys.
I'm running on a fairly new Dell Studio laptop computer with Windows 7 Pro as the OS.The font was installed using the normal install font directions.
As stated above the font works fine in Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Word.It shows as installed in Corel Draw font menu but will not print when trying to type, the curser just blinks.
I also have 2 desktop computers running Windows XP Pro OS where the font works perfectly in all programs.
getting my custom font to work in Corel Draw 11 using Windows 7 OS.
How to get this font to work in their Corel Draw programs. I use this font for 90% of my business so you can see why it's so important that I get it to work with Corel Draw 11 & Windows 7.
I copied and paste text onto a pic on photoshop and it has completely resized the whole workshop. Everything, now is so small you can see it. I can select 72 pts but then it's just barely large enough to read. What has happened and how do I restore things there way they were? I have Photoshop 6.
I can't change the text fonts in Elements 9. Most everything else seems to work except the font family drop down menu. When I click on the arrow, the menu drops but immediately dissappears. The font size drop down works but not the family menu.
