View 1 RepliesI am using Illustrator CS6 and followed a tutorial in Lynda.com on how to make a circular logo. Turned out great, the trouble is I can't lock the layers or group them together to move to my desired location.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've currently undertaken a project for truck design. They have requested for the final design to be 10% of the final size at 300 dpi and they will be using a large format printer, so no panel printing.
Here's the problem- even at 10% it is too large for the document restrictions.
The 24 ton truck at 10% of the final size is 1,278 meters by 228 meters.
All my Adobe programs won't even let me touch this final size, they limit me completely.
How do I create a final output size of 1,278 meters with the preset limitations and keeping a final output of 300 dpi?
I am trying to trim one side of a circular surface by using a projected line that forms my trimming line. The original surface is simply a circle that is swept along a path (like a tube/cylinder). When trimming by using the projected line it wants to cut all the way through the surface (i.e. both sides of the tube/cylinder) but I only want it to cut out one side. Is there a way of allowing this or do I create two semi-circular surfaces, therefore only cutting/trimming in effect one side?

In InDesign, I can select an object anywhere on the page and when I enlarge the view with Ctrl-+, the object is centered on the computer screen.
Illustrator does not do this. But, is there some kind of setting I can click on to make this happen? It would save me a lot of time to have this feature turned on, if it exists.
I draw a T with the pen tool, supposed to be vectorial, that is, you can enlarge it without losing quality.
But the top edge appears pixeled! Why??
I would like to enlarge about 400 tiny ellipse but I need them to fit in the same space and not spread out.

I spent hours trying to annotate a circle 6 pixel in diameter. Using DrawEllipse passing a 6 pixel square rect. and it draws a square. If the diameter is large ex. 20 pixel then it draws a circle.
The circle should look like this:

View 16 Replies View RelatedAccording to the tool pallet instructions, I should be able to draw a circle of specific diameter by typing in the "width" dimension, then, according to Illustrator: "you can click on the word Height to copy that value into the Height box." Doesn't work. I've trashed the AI prefs, clicked on the word and on the field, and this simply doesn't work. I assume that I or my system is at fault.

When I use "object/blend/replace spine" it will distribute the objects evenly around the circle, but with no rotation. My issue is that I have objects shaped like people and would like them evenly around the circle, but rotated correctly so that their feet are all touching the circular path and their heads are always facing out. How can I achieve this?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am fairly new to Illustrator, currently working on a project involving circular return address lables. On the labels, the address text follows a circular path with bullets between the name, street, and city/state/zip. Now that I've entered all of the text onto the curved path, how do I distribute it evenly along that path? In other words, how do I ensure that the same amount of space exists at the beginning and end of my line of text? Right now, there is "leftover" space at the end of the address.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a logo with curved text at the top and bottom of a circular image, with spaces at the sides.
So, Curved text along the top of the circle and then curved text along the bottom, alinged and with the same amount of empty space between the text at each side of the circle.
I am struggling to get the text to be symmetrical and aligned evenly
How to create these thick/thin lines like in the atom illustration I've added here:
I need to create arrowheads (two) as well on each circular shape, so that's why I'm trying to figure out a technique of doing this through the use of the LINE tool (for easy addition of the arrowheads, obviously).
So i've got a stroke in a circular path. I use the scissor tool and cut a segment of it out. Now, i want to move one of the end points up and have the anchor points after it follow the movement to keep the smooth line. I think Flash had a tool like this. It allowed you to manipulate one point that would affect the whole path depending on how extreme or what direction you went.

Because those 3 characters are circles we often want them proportional even if the rest of the copy is horizontally scaled.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThe problem I'm having with Skin Morph is that it's skewing my vertices side-to-side locally.
I'm using Skin Morph to better preserve the volume around the two joints of each finger of my hand model (See Arm1).
The two skin morph targets were created for the index finger while it was in the same position as the second image (Arm2).
I repeated this process, creating skin morph targets for the other two joints on the three other fingers and on the thumb.
The problem comes when I rotate the knuckle joint in any axis, in the third image (Arm3) I've rotated the knuckle downwards and you can see the vertices affected by the Skin Morph modifier have skewed to the left. When I turn the modifier off the vertices go back to their original position - so the problem isn't being caused by something like non-uniform scaling of my model (I reset the transforms before skinning).
The fourth image (Arm4) just shows the basic child/parent relationship that I've setup with the Bones and SplineShapes.
The fifth images show the (perhaps strange) position of the Driver Bone Matrix and the Morph Bone Matrix which could be constributing to the problem somehow.
I've uploaded the file so that you can explore my scene. armrigskinmorphproblems.zip
