Using Illustrator CS6. Created type and applied an effect (Graphic Pen) and the yet I could not get it to do anything but come out as black. How do you apply color to the effect?

the Transform Effect is applied to it (a rotation).
The text rotates, but the fill disappears...
whether it's the original object or if copies are added.
Why can't I color fill objects after i applied the expand appearance?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to mess with and target "tints" via javascript but either I am not understanding something or it cant be targeted as I had hoped, so I am looking for direction and guidance. I have a spot color assigned in the color swatches palette, and have drawn a few boxes on the page using this spot swatch. I then try to alter the tint using JS code.
sel[i].tint = // whatever number
alert(sel[i].tint) // This alerts fine
The alert shows a change taking place but it never gets applied to the item, the actual item never gets changed. I know things are properly targeted as I can change other attributes fine. When I look in the JS documentation it just shows for when creating a new spot, not for ones that already exist on items, I cant seem to find an example otherwise.
Can tint be adjusted for items on the page that have a spot color applied?
I'm trying to replicate the type effect (upper arc and lower arc combined) that's shown in the example below in Illustrator. So far, my attempts haven't been fruitful. The example might be hand-drawn and there might not be a way to do it in illustrator.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI have traced an image and expanded it. I'm now trying to add the scribble effect to it but it does not work. I assume it's because it's not an object but I'm new to illustrator so I'm not sure.

I basically want to add texture to the black eagle only.
When adding a grain pattern effect to an object in Illustrator CS6 I get an odd bevel that surrounds the object. There is nothing in the Appearance window to suggest that there should be a bevel and I didn't add it myself.
Is there some setting I am missing or an easy way to remove the effect? For now I am masking the object with a slightly smaller object but it's starting to drastically increase the size of my file.
how to mess with text to make them look like this (collegue need to make translated book cover) I suggested to use Displace but it's tricky...need to find proper background etc. Maybe there is some PS or Illustrator filter or filter group which applied gives such effect?
View 3 Replies View RelatedHaving trouble getting illustrator to assume my fill color when setting text. Each time I set type it reverts back to black regardless of the fill color I've set up. I can change it back once it's set but I'd like to illiminate the extra step. I've tried synching to my old settings but thats not working. It there a way to get it to behave like my older version where it just uses the fill color for text without reverting to black?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running Design and Web Premium CS6 on a Windows 7 machine. I was recently using Ai's Recolor Artwork dialogue for a CMYK document. I wanted to convert my 4 color artwork to Pantone solid coated. I decided to chose some different Pantones. In older versions of Illustrator I could easily open the Color Picker, click on a Pantone value and then just type in a new value to scroll to it. This is no longer the case with Ai CS6.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a task I need to perform often. I create charts that have descriptive texts below bars. There are two lines of text... a company name, then data on the second line. The text is at a slant, so each bar has its own separate text (i.e., I can't create it as one continues piece of text... but the text below each bar —the two lines— are connected). I want the first line of text to be 8 points and 100% black. The second line of text is to be 7 points and 50% black. So let's say the text is 8 pt Arial. I highlight the second line and run the action on it to reduce it down to 7 points. No problem. Then I run a second action (ideally, I'd like to combine actions, but I can't as you'll see in a moment...) which turns that second line to 50% black. BUT... it turns BOTH lines to gray... not just the line I have highlighted. How can I stop it from doing this? It seems like if I have only certain text highlighted, it should only apply changes to that particulat text! Not ALL of it.
I'd like to combine both actions so that all I have to do is highlight the second line and run both actions. But I can't do that at the moment

I need to make a bright pink/hot pink type of color for the web/monitors.
I been through tons of pantones, art books, etc... All the pinks look like pastel or extremely dull, not bright at all, like that hot pink, neon pink type of color.
1. is there a certain pantone/color/etc that will give me that hot pink color that will look hot pink on a website? if so what is it?
2. if there is no color for this, is there some way to simulate it?
I am using the Texture --> Grain effect to give my fonts and graphics that "chalkboard look", however the grain effect makes everything that I add the effect to White. Can I not have any color using the grain effect? For example, my font is yellow but when I add the grain effect, it turns white. Is white my only option with Grain effect?
How to achieve the "chalk" look! Grain effect seems to work the best for me (except the color issue).
I am trying to make my garment CADs have a color block effect. What is the best way to go about doing so? I build my CADs in Illustrator and then add my design to the CADs in Photoshop, both CS3.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIn previous versions of Illustrator, I could take a fill object ..with any color applied, and add the photocopy effect. This was a great tool to use, to illustrate and give texture to large patches of colors, which I used all the time in our site plan renderings (gras lawn effects).
Now in version CS4, when I go t oapply the photocopy effect to a fill, it automatically drops the color and changes the object to black and white. This defeats the purpose of being able to apply an effect to a colored object if the setting returns the color to BW. Not sure if I have something clicked wrong somewhere in Illustrator.. or is some programmer actually made this change...

But when I try and change the colour of the outline of say the skin, this changed the outline of everythign else (hair, clothes) because the lines are all joined. How do I only change the colour of the outlines surrounding certain areas?

All black and white text, with a kind of 3D pop out and a shadow as well. Maybe there is an easy way or a guide.
I have a solid color and apply the water color effect, though it doesn't do anything to the solid fill? I am applying the effect that is under Photoshop filters. Is this only meant to be applied to bitmaps?
View 1 Replies View RelatedLet's say you have two photos - Photo A and Photo B Both Photos are identical in every way, except Photo B had several Color Corrections applied to it. So, in reality, Photo A became Photo B after these Color Corrections were applied.
The question is:
Does Photoshop CS6 have a way to analyze Photo B by comparing it with Photo A, then telling you what Color Corrections were applied, (even if you had not recorded a script)?
I used to mark images yellow in LR if I needed to do further work on them in Photoshop. Once exported as jpegs, I'd open them in Bridge and sort for color labels. In the last year or so, Bridge stopped seeing those labels. It doesn't work in CS4 or CS6.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI'm using AI CC now, but I noticed this problem in earlier versions of AI: If I want to place a one-word label on an illustration I move the type insertion cursor to a speific point on the screen image and click, but then the flashing insertion point, where the label will actually start, pops up elsewhere, usually a line or two above where the cursor was, and a pica or two to the left, forcing me to type the label, then move it into position rather than simply typing it in the right place and moving on. The problem is merely annoying, but I'd like to fix it. It's probably a matter of ignorance-I simply haven't read the right documentation, but I don't know what to call the problem. Where can I find out how to change the position of the cursor relative to the insertion point?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to create text on a circle path, so drew the circle, went to the "type on a path tool" and clicked on the circle. I keep getting the message "can't create type". I have tried to use the direct selection tool to select the circle first and without the direct selection.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy Type Tool does not select type by double clicking or click and drag. (Windows CS 5 V15.1). This is what I have tried so far and the problem still exists.
Check preferences for "Text": "Select text-object by path only" should be off. Checked. It was off. Didn't fix it.
Check the toggle for Show/Hide Edges in the View menu. Cmd(Ctrl)-H. Checked. Edges Showing. Didn't fix it.
Trashed my Prefeerences. Didn't fix it.
For some reason, when I add type to a document sometimes CS6 is adding `a kind of fake stroke to the copy and thickening it. I know I've not got a stoke on the type and I've tried changing the aliasing. If i click on the type it disappear... click off... it appears again. It even printed on something the other day.

Working on a poster in Illustrator. Have added area type, using the type tool. Now I'd like to increase the size of one line. I can't select or edit any of the type with the type tool. I moved the type to a new layer, saved, closed Illustrator, restarted my Mac (OS X 10.7.4). Looked in preferences, in case there's an issue there. No luck.
By the way, I also don't see handles when in the selection tool any more. Don't know if that's related.
I outlined a bit of text, and then applied Effect > Warp > Arch. What I'd like to do is cut apart parts of the now outlined letters. I tried to use the pathfinder palette, but it applies the pathfinder to old, non-arched shape.
