1) I'm trying to do is to create an ellipse that has less steep curves at its corners (essentially making it a little more rectangular). I realize that if you create an ellipse, then use the direction tool, you can pull on the guidelines to make the curves less steep and achieve the affect I want. However, I was wondering, is there a feature when I can just enter in an amount and it will adjust all four corners to that amount without me having to fineagle with the direction tool?
2) Is it possible to create my own custom type of elipse where when I use the ellipse tool, and drag it out to make an elipse, it will already have these corners that I'd like?
I am trying to LOFT multiple ellipse shapes along a spline path to create a door handle. But as soon as I choose 1 section, MAX creates the shape. I cannot figure out how to create the shape with multiple cross sections. I have attached a screen shot and a pic of the door handle I want to create.
Which is an ellipse which I happened to draw a line inside of. My goal is to be able to join the line with the ellipse so I can make it part of the shape, then I'd like to chop off the top of the ellipse (the part on top of the line).
So I have a friend who creates business cards and logo's with elipses and she's running into a problem. She has currently got the trial version of Illustrator CC and while she can create the elipses just fine, she can't seem to get the text to follow the curve.
She does have the right tool correct? Illustrator can do what she wants it to do correct? If so, is it an issue of usage ignorance or could it be that the trial simply doesn't have this feature?I recommended the Illustrator as the right tool but I want to make sure it will do what she's wanting to do.
I'm not sure what I did in Illustrator, but my ellipse/rectangle tools are "off." All make a slanted shape, as if I created a normal ellipse then rotated it. They are also very narrow no matter how I draw them. There is a small symbol showing up while I draw them. It looks like a small vertical line connected to a small horizontal arrow.
My ultimate goal is to have a virtual human model that I can re-size parametrically to reflect real-world measurements. I've used MAX to make architectural models and scenes so I know how to manipulate basic shapes in MAX.
how to make some sort of basic-custom geometric shape and control that shape parametrically, like the built-in "Box", "Sphere" and "Cylinder" objects.
In the above image, I have four symmetrical corners of an ellipse which I'm trying to join together into one ellipse that is perfectly symmetrical. I am trying to line up the anchors perfectly (one corner at time) and then do a join, yet the result is always slightly off. I've been selecting the two points I want to join and using Path -> Average, then Path -> Join to do this, yet as mentioned it's not coming out precise.
Been using Illstrator for over 7 years now, and never really wanted to ask this question, but I have to now. If I draw a sqaure using the rectangle tool, it shows a cross in the centre, and if I draw one using the pen tool, there is no cross. Is the cross there to merely show the centre or does it have a different purpose in showing it's a different property? Also, if you want to recreate this, make sure you are in Outline View (⌘/ctrl + Y) .
I'm trying to draw a circle and an ellipse so that the ellipse shares exactly two points of contact between the two paths (not centered).
This is seemingly impossible with the tools provided since, if you draw an ellipse normally, with the anchor points of the ellipse on the circlular path, there are four points of contact, which means the two paths overlap.
I've tried revolving a line segment that goes from the edge of the circle to the middle of the circle (not center) with similar results.
Drawing the ellipse first doesn't work either.
Astute Graphics has a plug-in, Subscribe that would almost work, except it only draws circles, not ellipses.
Am I overlooking someting extremely obvious, or am I correct to say that illustrator can't do this? I'm using CS5. Maybe this is something that is fixed in CS6 with a snap to path option?
I'm trying to snap a circle created with the Ellipse tool to the grid. However, the center of the circle won't snap to the grid, it's always the edges.
My circle is 4.7mm and my grid is 10mm with 2 subdivisions. How to get the center of a circle to snap to the grid?
I'm trying to figure out how to create an iLogic rule that would create a Custom iProperties and put in what version of Inventor the file was last updated with.
Is there a way to save a custom artboard setup with a custom document profile in illustrator cs5? I do technical illustrations and our page size is odd (7.19 x 8.96. It the size that our Framemaker layout is set to.). I have a custom document profile that I use, but I use the grids all the time so that my callouts are spaced out evenly around the art. I would like to have a way to set the artboard up so that the grid will align to the center of the artboard everytime I turn them on. Right now they always start from the top left and when I center art in the center of the page, the grid spacing isn't the same on each side of the art. I just want to be able to open my document profile, turn on my grids, have them start from the center, and I can get down to business. As it is now I have to go into my artboard settings and manually adjust the grid to the center. Small annoyance, but it still annoys me. I have tried to save it a few different ways, but nothing has worked. Maybe there just isn't a way.
Can we place a custom menu and commands in Adobe Illustrator and invoke custom actions? The need for us is to call a C# DLL from these menu commands. I see C++ support but none on COM or NET support.
I am trying to create a custom detail line, if possible?
Is there any way to create a custom detail line which will be a dashed line (similar to Hidden) as well as containing arrows every "X" feet or inches. i am attaching an image that is what i would like to create so i don't draw from scratch.
I would like for it to function as a line, spline, shape, whatever the needs may be.
Is there a way to create a custom fascia in Revit Architecture 2012? I am trying to create a 3/4" thick metal panel on 3-5/8" metal stud that is 2'-6" tall.
If I want to apply lens correction in ACR thgere is a dropdown list of lenses, but my lens isn't included. presumably because it has been superceded by the 12 - 24.
So, is it possible to create a custom profile for this lens and save it for future use? if so how do I do this?
I'm wanting to load a png file into photoshop & use a customised menu bar or perhaps a plugin to supply some specific image information as I work. The image is a game height-map. The pixel hex value represents the height of the terrain.
I wanting to load my map (image) into PS & display a new menu bar containing this information in textboxes & the like:
1. The hex value of the pixel the mouse is hovering over.
2. The corresponding height related to that hex value. This would be a customised calcuated field (textbox).
3. A combo or spinbox with height values, so that you would select the desired height to pain onto the map, and the pain fill tool would automatically select the corresponding color to pain based on custom calculated conversion of height to correcponsing hex (color) value.
Do I need to write a plugin? or maybe ctionscript with a custom toolbar?
I want to create similar effect using glass / distort filter but can't achieve it somehow co'z that filter doesn't allow you to add glass with custom shapes or horizontal / vertical.
I have been trying to research how to create a custom surface. I found this article [URL]...... about how to to create a surface from a jpeg. The article says to "expand color on the top left." of the style editor. However, when I open the dialogue there is no "color" that can be expanded. The only thing in the top left of dialogue box is "lighting." Is there another step that the article misses, or is there another way for me to create a surface from a jpeg?
I'm trying to create a custom floor tile but having issues doing it. 1st I create a generic 12' create floor, then use that floor to create a subfloor to try to create a tiled floor that is offset 1/4" from the initial floor. I select the floor, click edit material, select ceramic tile,.. get to the graphics property, select surface pattern and select 12" tile, click done, then OK but ... nothing happens.
I would also like to customize a pattern. I would like to create a patter that uses a 12"X12" tile with (2) 5 7/8"X5 7/8" tiles.
I tried to use the *.PAT technique but finding it difficult to do what I want so I found the hatch22 but still find that rather difficult.
I want to create an custom parameter like "button" under my object parameters or in attribute holder and i want this button run a simple code/script for me.
for example: linking Box1 to Box2 $.parent = $Box002
I know how to work with "wire parameter" and "parameter editor" but the problem is that i cant find any way to tell them to run this script with that parameter.
can i collect multiple nodes and collapsed them into a single node (group) and export it as a single new node (custom node ) where then i can add or expose/hide any original parameter as well as creating my custom (new) parameter or button where the button will be controlled by expression (python or similar) to do custom task. It's like in Sidefx houdini and foundry Nuke (pure node based app). can i do this in smoke.
