I imported an editable pdf document with some text earlier. The text came in ok and all I needed was to change the point size.I had to import the same page to check some line weights and I noticed that the text now appeared.
View 3 RepliesI am using Illustrator CS6 on windows 7. I created a document on Illustrator CS4 on mac osx and exported the file to a pdf. Now when I want to edit the pdf in illustrator the images and drawings display correctly, but only certain text is shown. Not any text in particular, but just random lines of text within paragraphs. The rest of the text does not show up at all.

I'm looking for a way to import this information to create a custom Color Swatch Library. That will have the name of the color and the CMYK breakdown. So that I can easily use in Illustrator and Photoshop. Is there any way or application in doing this with out manually entering the information and creating a new library?

Well, the file imports with the "text" now, but it is painfully slow to navigate and select anything. (probably because of the thousands of lines that make up the text)
Is there a way to import the text, and keep them editable in Max?
What is the best workflow? I need the text only as reference. I am building an RC airplane and have the pieces drawn in CAD. I want to bring them into MAX and extrude them to make a virtual build to make sure my parts are accurate. I only need the text because it labels all the pieces for now.

I've recently upgraded to Corel Draw X5 having used many previous versions (back to Corel 6) but i'm having a few issues when importing .EPS files.
I normally do a design in AutoCAD, then export to .eps, then import into Corel.
Im finding an issue though, when I import an EPS that contains text, the middle section of the text will not combine and fill correctly.
For example, if I were to import a letter "Q" when I then combine the outer section to the middle section in previous versions the letter would appear normally, with a "Hollow" inner section. However, in X5, I combine the letter and the inner section does not combine with the outer section, leaving me with a solid black symbol, with the outline of a letter "Q" but no centre piece to define the actual character.
I've taken over the spot as art person, and to put it nicely I don't know what I'm doing. I'm not sure if I did it or another person who has been on the program. but now when I am accepting files PDF CDR from other people I am no longer recieving the option to import as text or curves. It is automatically importing them as curves. Which is all fine and dandy for fonts I do not have but it leaves me unable to edit the text as needed without having to redo all the text for the fonts I do have.
Where can I find the option to make that option re-pop up when I am importing stuff?
having a problem with x6 importing Eps as text or curves X6 is a nightmare. have made eps files from pdfs imports fine in x5 opens in illustrator cs6. The files re distill to pdf in acrobat no problem. used corel since windows 286 have finally given up, due to font handling change and plugin issues. on to cs6.

it's possible to copy and paste form Word and keep the formatting. I've tired using the text tool but the formatting is lost and I've tried direct pasting but it results in a huge size. Resizing the result leaves the print blurry.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI need to import DXF files to Corel, but when I import them, the text appear as paragraph text, not as artistic text...that's not a problem if the paragraph text includes all the text...but it do not do that. Some texts appears as paragraph with red lines (so it is not possible to see it, as well as not possible to convert directly to artistic with Ctrl+F8). Also, some paragraph text appear as 2 lines instead of just one, because it do not feed in wide but yes in height.
I would like to import the text directly as artistic...or as paragraph,but with the same appearance of the original DXF file.
i Have the dwg drawing in which a table is made by simling joining the lines & putting the text in those line.Can that data in actual be converted into the table?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI use autocad (version 2002) to draw 2D drawings which I then engrave with a rabbit laser engraving unit (model RL-60-9060). The problem I have been experiencing is that in order to engrave these files I have to save my .dwg's as .dxf's which I then import into a program called (laser systems 5.3) when I import these files everything looks fine except for the text which is shifted (only in certain random areas and always to the right) I then have to look at the file very closely and move the text back where it should be, often missing something which makes me have to go through hours of sanding my metal down and repainting it before I can try again. Ive been told that I need to explode the text in autocad to correct the issue, however I have had no success doing this.

Kind of how you Matchprop command when you select what you want to match. Maybe have it match from ToolPalettes? Or maybe an IMPORTTEXT lisp that you just have to type in the name of the file you want to bring in.
Example ... we have a 1632PNC screw that reads:

I'll try to import a text file with a string: pointnumber, easting, northing, elevation, discription, but I get very big blocks and attributes in my drawing. I use Autocad 2011 Map 3D, on a windows XP OS. I'll importing the text string with the import command. Easting and Northing are for the position. The Elevation, pointnumber and discription are attributes from a block. I can only choose a block: "Map_Survey_point" This is the only block I can choose. When I import the text, the scale from the importing blocks are too big. How can I change the size of the block and attributes?

I wanted to take this information back into my AutoCAD drawing. I want to be able to open my drawing in AutoCAD and see these labels just the way they appear in CAFM diagram.
Is there a way to import this data? Maybe an Excel spreadsheet or maybe a csv file?
The database is connected to the drawing by entity handles that define each polyline on the floor plan. Can I use this data somehow to get the import I need?
I am having issues importing dwg or dxf files. The drawing is there but all the text is gone. There are a lot of details and it takes longer to re-do the text than it takes to design the part. Here is some background. My hard drive went out two weeks ago. All worked fine. Text and Cad imported fine. I use ACAD12 and CS5 illustrator. Now when I import it drops all the text out. Bringing it in to one of my coworkers computer it is fine. I thought it may be an autcad issue, but when I impoty old dxf's they don't bring in text. These were files that worked before my crash.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using autodesk autocad civil 3D (Metric).When I am importing point from text file it comes with different scale which is not to 1:1.Actual scale is 1: 3.280 which is exactly equal to 1m :1 ft ratio.
So, my guess is, X,Y,Z coordinates are importing to autocad civil 3D is in feets and measured distance points in meters.
is it possible to import a microsoft excel table to auto cad and have it be autocad lines and text? it is a rather large table and would save me alot of time if i didnt have to redraft it.

Everything in the PSD file is Text & Vector, so it should import in clean and crisp but it doesn't. Plus I can't find where you can set the DPI/Resolution in Illustrator. Can anyone guide me in this??
Or better yet, is there some custom brushes out there for free that anyone knows about, that will give me a vectorized "water" or "wave" look?
I am trying to import dielines that are either dwg or dxf files into illustrator so I can add artwork and send to the vendor. How to Import them? I tried importing them as EPS files, but they were always scaled down to an 8.5" x 11" piece of paper. I need these dielines to keep their actual size.

I have a program that generates dxf and when importing the same file into cs2 the alignment works fine, both to the left, to the right and center.
When i'm creating a design with text in illustrator and exporting as a dxf all text rows are aligned to the left when importing the same file again? That happens in both cs2 and cs6.
I need to get this solved before I leave cs2 and buy cs6.
I am trying to create a shape layer out of a vector layer. When I import my .ai file to AE cs6, add it to a compisition, right click selecting create shape from vector layer I get a grey box. I am assuming this is a transparency issue in Illustrator, but I never use Illustrator so I cant figure out how to fix it.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have been trying really hard now and this has ocurred several times before for me: I copy a text from MS Word and paste it into a Paragraph text frame in Corel Draw, and all I get is a line break. That's correct, just one line break, no text.
If I take just a few hundred words it pastes allright, but if I have like 14 000 characters including spaces, it fails to paste. If I paste the same amount of text into Notepad and then from there to Draw, it works alright. There seems to be a problem importing/pasting formatted text, even if you discard all fonts and formatting in the Paste text dialog.
If I go to Edit/Paste special/Text the import works, but the text does not land in the text frame selected or where you have the cursor active, instead you get the text in some randomly fomed text frames where you most likely don't want them, many times just as big as the page and with no margins.
So there definitely seems to be a problem pasting longer texts into Corel Draw.
I work exclusively in coreldraw x4 but am need someone who works in illustrator, which means they need to be able to open my files, work on them, send them back and then i need to be able to open them in x4. don't care what file types are involved as long as i end up back with a .cdr file that still has all the important info like groups, font details, accurate cmyk values, lenses, pattern fills and gradient fills intact. etc.
since i also have illustrator on my machine i thought i'd do some tests to see if this works and here's what i've found:
1. cdr files saved as ai seem to open perfectly in ai with the exception of color changes in pattern fills. (they look essentially the same but CMYK values are oddly different.) they stay in the altered cmyk values coming back into corel.
2. coming back to corel some teeny tiny amount of info just plain disappears (in this case, some outlines)
i've tried bring it in as a pdf file and ai (and yes, importing both times) but still the issues.
is any way to import splines into 3Ds Max without using Adobe Illustrator. I have Sketchbook Designer and Inkscape, and the DWG/DXF files they produce do not import into Max.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI work in InDesign and create documents which often has a lot of illustrator filesin them. Everything seems to work ok and I definitely prefer to put in vector graphics then raster them, however when it comes to creating a PDF of the document it end up being massive. I think it has something to do with the illustrator files that I place into InDesign, but I'm not sure how to make the illustrator files reduce in size when it comes to PDF-ing them from InDesign.
Is there any simple tricks when saving the illustrator file? Would it be better to save them as PDF's? Or does that not make any difference?
