is any way to import splines into 3Ds Max without using Adobe Illustrator. I have Sketchbook Designer and Inkscape, and the DWG/DXF files they produce do not import into Max.

However on some of my imports i only get Splines and not the actual geometry?
I am using Navisworks 2014 SP1 and 3ds Max 2013

Per the suggested guidelines, here are the specifics:

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.8.5.
Source footage: HDV 720p60 video in .MOV container.

Crash occurs when trying to import HDV .MOV file.This is a consistent problem when importing .MOV files of this type.
Complete Adobe Creative Suite is installed. Also using Episode Pro encoding software from Telestream to prepare HDV video. No other external video hardware or codecs installed.Yes, I am using the Mecury Playback Engine GPU acceleration.
the programme hang when the import assests or save as for the first time - it does save the files but you have to force quit and reopen the file - running on a Mac 10.6.8

I duplicated one of my previously created CS6 Adobe Illustrator files (28 MB) with photos that have clipping masks. Why is my new AI file now 148 MB in size, when all of my newly linked jpeg graphics total only 9 MB? If I save it as a regular pdf it's 148MB, but if I save this same file with the smallest size pdf format, it reduces it down to only 242 KB. No files are embedded either in my newly created AI file. My business associate working on other Illustrator files experiences this same phenomenon sporadically at times too. It has us both baffled.

View 5 Replies View Relatedi used to do a lot of spline extracting from geometry, mostly to use sweep modifier to modeling. But i usualy got a problem when i do that, some of the splines are "flipped" (or reversed), causing a problem in sweep geometry. In attached image, i extracted the splines from the faces below, and when i apllied the sweep, some of the splines get a different result. I tried to collapse the spline, reverse, flip the geometry normals, reset xform, create another spline and attach the extracted one, and nothing solved the problem. What i usualy do is to detach part of the spline and apply the modifier twice.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have recently decided to restart on an older project, made in some older software long ago, a somewhat simple racetrack.
I decided to load this model into 3DS, and modify it to add several alterations and some heavy modifications. In order to retain it's original shape. I had decided to convert it to a Spline. According to my plans, this was the best solution, apparently.
And that's where the issue settles in. Due to the fact that the model was triangulated, when I selected the "Select Edges" and "Convert to editable Spline", the model became a skeleton of it's former self, and when you delete the un needed vertices the remaining spline consists of many un connected points, thus making Path deform and Sweeping impossible.
I cannot weld the vertices together, every attempt made thus far had been un productive, the vertices remain un connected and un usable.The spline in question can be viewed in the attachment.
I am looking for a way to deform an object using splines, i know you could do it with a path constraint but i dont want it to travel along a path i just want to be able to deform it with a spline,

There are a lot of details and it takes longer to re-do the text than it takes to design the part. Here is some background. My hard drive went out two weeks ago. All worked fine. Text and Cad imported fine. I use ACAD12 and CS5 illustrator. Now when I import it drops all the text out. Bringing it in to one of my coworkers computer it is fine. I thought it may be an autcad issue, but when I impoty old dxf's they don't bring in text. These were files that worked before my crash.
