View 3 Replies View RelatedI have Illustrator CS5 and I am having problems with my fonts. I like to type my text, highlight it, and then click on the font I am using and scroll down so I can see the text I've type changed until I find the font I want.
However, I am having some issues - it only seems to go through fonts in sections. I have a lot of fonts on my computer but I cant scroll through more than about 10/15 without it either jumping to the end/bottom font or going back to the font I started on.
My font size top tab wont scroll up or down, it some times works in the side tool bar but not all the time.

View 1 Replies View RelatedThere are other discussions about scroll wheel zooming, but this is about scrolling. It goes too quickly in InDesign, though it's great in other products.
Is there a way to adjust it in InDesign 6?
I've installed Illustrator CS6 recently and found the behavior of panning with the scroll wheel annoying. When I have low zoom values (e.g. 75%) the scroll wheel lets me pan U-D, L-R at normal speed, but if I zoom in (200% and up), the panning slows to a point where it is unusable at 600% and up. I use [Shift] to speed it up but at high zoom levels it's not enough. This wasn't the case for Illustrator CS5 or 5.5 where panning with the scroll wheel worked at the same speed at any zoom level.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOne would think that Adobe would be smart enough to understand a basic concept- that those who are trying to read Adobe's instructions DON'T KNOW HOW TO USE THEIR PRODUCT. That is why folks read instructions, right? Because they do not understand how to use the product.
If I was the CEO of Adobe I'd be firing the incompetent people who are in charge of explaining how Adobe's Photoshop CS 4 works.
Part of this is due to geeks who are better left to programming than writing instructions.
When personal computers were first introduced- it was geek heaven. The idea that using a computer to accomplish something relating to one's work took a back seat to geeks who thought it was fun and interesting to have complicated programs- most of which few in the real world understood- or frankly- wanted to take the time to learn.
So it is with Photoshop. As a photographer I have zero interest in wanting to suffer through hours- days even- of trying to figure out how to use a given component within Photoshop. My time is worth something. I have work to get done, and the last thing I want to suffer through is a bunch of geek nonsense in trying to get a given task competed in PS.
Does adobe even bother to define the geek terms it uses within PS? No.
Does adobe even try to write instructions that are easy to follow? No. That is why aftermarket books are written to try and help people decipher PS. That is probably also why this blog exists.
For the considerable money I've spent for ADOBE products, I expect better. Much, much better.
So that's the overview.
What I wanted to do was capture the winter sun, on the Winter solstice- in Alaska- as the sun moved across the horizon- form sunrise to sunset. This was a span of 3.5 hours. I took about 18 shots that I'd like to try and merge into one shot where the picture would be a composite of where the sun was in the sky- about every 15 minutes. This would then show the movement of the sun across the sky on the shortest day of the year.
All shots were taken from a tripod- set up in a fixed location for the duration of the shoot.
Dealing with -15 temperatures for about four hours was preferable to dealing with PS CS-4 and trying to make this composition.
how to auto- blend layers in adobe photoshop elements 10?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a big problem in my adobe software (Photoshop and Fireworks by-example). When, for example, I backup my project psd, short layers that I did well at the opening of what I save almost all my layers are disorders .
They are displaced, stuff like that .
I'm working on a rather complex piece of artwork in Illustrator CC with the latest Mac OS, with several objects on each layer.
Whenever I click an object, its layer in the Layers palette auto-expands, pushing all of the main layers off of the edge of the palette. I then have to click the little arrow to collapse the layer so I can see all of the other layers and (quickly?) get to the one I need.
I am using a Magic Trackpad (don't ask) so this task is particularly arduous, as the cursor is often somewhat difficult to maneuver when attempting to target small UI elements. My display height is only 1050 px, so naturally I would rather not make the layer thumbnails any smaller (25 px.)
Is it possible to disable or defeat the auto-expanding behavior? Placed in bold
Why in the heck do Macs show layers in a PDF that are HIDDEN at the time of saving if "Create Acrobat Layers from Top-Level Layers" is checked is checked -BUT- PC's don't??
I just proofed a business card with my boss accidentily showing him some type on a layer that was hidden. He approved it. Now I have to make a bunch of type set up in very tight margins work in production.
Is there a way to collapse all layers in the layers panel with one click?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've been using Illustrator since the late 80's but this request just now came up for the first time, twice in one day: the clients each want me to send them layered files (OK-no problem) wherein all the layers, even the raster layers, register as vector layers. Or at least all the layers, regardless of file-type (vector or raster) are contained within an unflattened Illustrator file. One of the clients specifically asked that the Type layer (No problem-all the type is on one layer) be "vector mapped", whatever that means, while all the other layers can be Photoshop layers, if necessary. So how do I hand them an open, unflattened Illustrator file containing both vector art and raster art? Can it be done in Acrobat, as a PDF? I'm working in AI and PS CS5, but I can and will upgrade if I have to.
