Is there any way to apply transparency to a color when using the recolor artwork box? I am dealing with a lot of puppet warp and gradients so it would be nice if I could use the recolor artwork box, instead of looking for all the colors manually.
As you can see from the screenshot, there is a lot of colors to go through.
In Recolor artwork is there a way to change the black and white colors to a color? When I try to edit them it doesn't edit them at all. It would be nice if I didn't have to manually tweak the colors to have color before I go into Recolor Artwork.

View 11 Replies View Relatedworking in CS6, OS 10.6.8. I'm working on a 3-color screen print CD label, and the colors will be a white background, plus black and a PMS color. I've been recoloring some CMYK artwork to use in the design, and really liked the results of Recolor Artwork (selecting only black and the spot color), until I noticed that when I selected "tints & shades" it converted everything with black in it to process (which I know Adobe says is why you shouldn't select that option).
But my question is, how can I get the same effect (that is, using shades of the spot color "mixed" with black) without having it convert the shades to process? I'm sure it involves overprinting, but I'm hitting a big hole in my knowledge.

I just need to go from K and tones of K to a spot color and tones of a spot color.
I'm using recolor artwork because I can't merge into K. The art comes in from our customers as K so we can't just design differently.
The rectangles on the right are k and tones of k. The rectangles on the left are the results after converting to a spot color with recolor artwork. Using recolor artwork. I just need a way to accurately move the tones from k to a spot.
The Recolor Artwork dialog does not replace the color of objects filled or stroked with pure black, either CMYK or RGB. (Yes, with the Recolor Art checkbox selected.) The dialog will replace any other color, but not black. Not even a manually created rich black. Manually selecting another color from the Color or Swatches panel does change the object's fill or stroke.
This happens with both CS6 and CS5 under Windows 7 x64. I reported it as a bug on the prerelease site. Also not sure if bug reports are still being read for the released version.
I have a file with a number of artboards on which there are objetcs filled with 100% Magenta and some with 100% Magenta and 0,34% Yellow. I want to get rid of that 0,34% but Illy is refusing to cooperate.
Even selecting just two or three objects and trying to recolor using the Edit/Edit colors/Recolor Artwork dialog has no effect. I can change the color manually though, for one or more selected objects.
I have presently 20 colors in a graph and its being a pain using the recolor artwork.

View 11 Replies View RelatedThe text below is set in one conatiner, I want to recolor 28m 100y process to a PMS 130 Global swatch.
I select the type, use recolor artwork, and take the arrows off of everything except the 2nd color (which is 28m 100y). This is where I get stuck, how do I assign PMS 130 to be the destination color?
Tried clicking a few things and did not work, and if I try to choose document swatches, I get the error below.
I cannot use select >> same fill color, because the type is in one text container, and I need just the gold type selected (along with fills and strokes in the rest fo the document)

I created a carpet and decorated it with symbols. When I tried to place it in the perspective grid with the perspective tool, it wouldn't move. I can move it fine with the selection tool and there's a bounding box but nothing happens when I use the perspective selection tool.

RGB 234, 76, 52 (original color in Illustrator artwork)
RGB 233, 75, 52 (color of smart object pasted into Photoshop)
Why the color is changing? I need the color to be an exact match.
I have CS6 Creative Suite and the applications are synchronized using the same color settings (North America General Purpose 2). I've tried using both proccessed and spot colors in Illustrator but have the same issue with both.
I was using Paint.net but I've found it too limited. The GIMP has much more power and I can do a lot more with it, but I've found a few things I can't figure out how to do.
For example, when I use the Eyedropper tool () to choose a color, GIMP doesn't seem to include any transparency in the selection:
The Colorpicker just chooses the color at 100% opacity. Is there any way to change this so that my new foreground color includes the transparency level?

I followed the instructions on getpaint.net, but when I used the tool, it gave me the inverted version of the color I wanted. I uninstalled and reinstalled twice. I even went so far as to paint the color I wanted, invert the photo colors, use the picker tool, and set the inverted color as my secondary. It turned out the actual color I wanted.

This isn't actually limited to just the paintbrush tool, but all of my drawing tools. View 11 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to figure out a way to automate a simple, yet repetative process I do countless times a day. Ideally, I'd like to tie it to a keystroke to speed up my workflow.
I work on line art and colorways for footwear, so the way I'm coloring these shapes and strokes break apart the different materials and pieces of the shoe.
While coloring line art, I work with Pantone spot colors as fills for closed path objects. I then have to manually apply that same color to the stroke, set the stroke to 0.5px weight, convert that spot stroke color to CMYK, and add 15% to the K value.
I found some code in an older post for applying the actively selected object's fill color to the stroke, but I'm having but I'm having trouble with the next step of figuring out how to take that spot stroke color and convert it to a CMYK build that I can then add 15% black to. Is this something that's even possible? I've spent about an hour playing with the script and have only had luck matching the fill color or turning the stroke white.
Here's my issue... lets say I have 600 different objects in illustrator (just little circles with a fill color, no stroke) and 6 different colors that these circles should be. That means, I'd like about a 100 to be one color, 100 another color, etc... Is there anyway to select all 600 and just tell Illustrator that I have these 6 colors and I want to apply them to the selected objects randomly?

I'm choosing the color I want to replace and then choosing a color out of my swatch to replace it with and when the color loads onto my image it doesn't look anything like the color i chose. How do I custom change the Canvas Colour? I don't want to use Transparency Grid hacks, I want to custom change the canvas colour so that it suits my other works.
btw, who forgot to implement the use of Illustrators colours into the transparency grid feature, leaving it using the Mac OS X UI colour pickers is a bizarre choice.
To create 2-color artwork from any colored vector clipart I used to be able to:
import colored clipart convert to CMYK if needed select entire graphic and create new styles with 2 parents change (edit) the colored parent to a named Pantone spot color (the child colors automatically become percentages of the Pantone spot color) "find and change" the remaining CMYK to Grayscale, and then back to CMYK (this ignors the spot color and converts the annoying rich blacks to percentages of K) export to a PDF file--which when imported into, say, InDesign, will separate on the K and Spot Color Plates only, in all its glorious shades of gray and tints of Pantone spot color.
I'm completely at a loss on how to do this in X6, and I'm on a short deadline.
Is there a way to apply a color to selected objects without having to search for the color in the color palette. So say if I am working with an image that has multiple colors but want to use only one of the colors in that image, is there a way to apply it without having to create or add it to the palette.

Now, I'm trying to figure out how I can apply some kind of transparency to the edges to soften them up a bit so they aren't so stark and will overlay nicely over my site background once the image is uploaded.
