Since installing Maverick I have encountered a problem with Illustrator CS6. Any file new or existing is subject to freezing. It usually occurs when I try to drag an object from one place to another within the file while working on a project. It can happen at anytime and I'm unable to save the work. I have to Force quit Illustrator and in most cases restart the computer ( 12 month imac).

- very very very often freeze on File/New...
- very often freeze on File/Save for Web...
I bought update from CS5.5 to CS6 but at this moment Ai CS6 is absolutely unusable for me. I'm back to Ai CS5 and everything works ok. How is possible that older version works like a charm on Mac OS X 10.8.1 on Mac Pro (Early 2008) than never version CS6?
I saved a symbols file with a few symbols in it.
I then create new .ai files - create some graphics then want to save some of them in the symbols file.
I dont see a way of saving symbols from the .ai file into the already existing symbols file.
I'm running CS5 and need to add some Arabic to an existing Ai file. Should I get the Middle Eastern version of Ai or is there a cheaper and easier alternative?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create an illustrator action that isn't functioning properly on playback. I'm using Illustrator CS5 on a Macbook. In setting up for print production of CD's and DVD's, on what's called an OMAP; I have to copy, paste and then place the image at a specific point on the artboard. Then I repeat 143 times. I'd like to create an action that pastes and moves each of the 144 disc images to the precise x and y coordinates given. I've tried creating this action through the steps outlined below, but the result of the playback is never consistent and the images end up off the artboard.
1. Copy disc image from an existing illustrator file.
2. In the action panel of my OMAP template document I create a new action, give it a name and click Record.
3. I hit command>V to paste.
4. In the transform panel I put in the x and y coordinates(Then repeat)
Update: I was able to create the action in Illustrator CS4 and playback works perfect. However, my client uses Illustrator CS 5 on a PC (as I use most of the time); and, the action will not play back properly in CS 5. I've updated both mine and their software to the latest version of CS 5 (illustrator 15.0.2 i believe) and this action still will not function right. I've tried re-creating the action in CS 5 with no success on playback. URL...
PS auto updater pop-up. It asked me to update and install something about patch? I don't know what is was then I click "no" or "remind me later". After that everything stopped working. After I restart, everything works fine but PS.
I can open new file and save it. But when I try to open the "saved" one, the "open file" window came and gone so fast. Then the PS 's not responding. I have to close it through task manager.
I removed it and re-install it,

View 4 Replies View RelatedI usually remember to save things, but this time I didn't. I went straight to print. But before I did, I hit the wrong button and pressed "cancel print". It's now saying, "cancelling print" for 20 minutes. I know its likely frozen but I don't want to lose my work. I have a mac and so I made a JPEG of the image, using GRAB application. Is there any way to save what I have? I know if I "Quit" the application, I'll lose it. How can I get it to finish it's "cancelling?"

The same problem also appeared when I tried to open a drawing direct in autoCAD or when I search the file to make an exref into the drawing.
How can you use a template file from your personal files to use it in an already existing .dwg file.
I knwo how to do it if I start the drawing from scratch and I select that template, but I want to put this existing drawing into my personal template file from my documents.
I did a search around, and did not find the answer. Basically I have attempted to create an action in Photoshop CS6 which will save a file in the tiff format after i crop the image. I want the file name to be the name of the image (which is supposed to change depending on name of the image) like this:
1280x720_MGXXX.tiff, where, in my case the XXX represents DIFFERENT NUMBERS.
I want to apply the action to one image at a time. Each image has a different number (name). I record the action, add the 1280x720 text to the image name in the Save dialog. I am saving the image in a different folder from the source file. The source file name is _MGXXXX.tiff (again XXXX is a number like 2220...).
When I run the action on a file, say "_MG2221.tiff" it adds the 1280x720, and saves the file. When I apply the action on the next file (_MG2222.tif), the action overwrites the existing file, 1280x720_MG2221.tif, with the image. The action always uses the name I entered in the Save dialog!! I think I was able to do this in CS4 and CS5.
I want to be able to open a file, crop and adjust it, and then save in a diff location with 1280x720 pretended to the file name.

I have an existing image which i wish to use in gif format, and was wondering whether i can convert it into a *.psd file. my main problem is that the background of the image is white, and as i want to use it in my buttons i really need to make it transparent?
I am a brand new user of Paint.Net.......Using Windows Vista home edition.
Here is my thing. I have 2 jpg images. The first image is of a badger walking in some grass, the second image is of the front of my friend's house. What I want to do is "cut out" the badger from the first image, then "superimpose" this on the second image so it looks like the badger is walking past my friend's house. By cut out the badger I mean I just want the badger in the final image, not with all the grass around him that's in the original image.
Does Paint.Net have the functionality to do this?
Im trying to add a pdf on top of an existing PDF in illustrator using a script. This is supposed to be done by anyone at my firm so that is why I want it in a script. I also have a lot of other functions that works that will do some other stuff with this document.
Created this from the scripting guide but it doesnt work. Im pretty sure its the embedDoc var thats empty and i dont understand why. Im not sure if the File "points" to the directory of the script or the original file but Ive tried both ofcoarse.

I am a GIS person and not familiar too much with AutoCAD. As you may know we can easily overlay GIS fles in GIS software as much as we would like to have , while having same coordinate system.Now my question is , Is it possible to overlay( Or Open, Add, Insert,..) a dgf file into an exiting one?
For Example, I have received 4 dxf file which they have all same units and coordinate for Pit Design and I just want to have all of them in one dxf. How I can merge them? I saw a hint on web for Copy Base Point but it was too complicated.

I would like to add an effect to just a person in front of a green screen. I've created an adjustment layer that produces the effect and placed it above the footage layer. How can I have the effect just apply to the actor and not carry over and fill the rest of the screen?

i have a shot in an office where i have a subject walking in front of some really bright windows. i added an adjustment layer and made 6 mask squares over the windows and brought down the brightness a bit. of course when the subject walks in front of those windows you can see the shaded mask on him.
im not sure what you call it but what do i do to him to keep the mask from showing on him?
not sure if i should make another thread but ill ask this as well in here...in the same shot because of the bright windows originally the rest of the scene inside the office is dark. how do i brighten the rest of the scene without affecting the windows? i tried duplicating the adjustment layer with the 6 masks and inverting them so i can brighten everything but windows but no matter what i did i couldnt get it to work.
Is there a way to add new art boards to an existing document (same dimensions and same space betwen artboards)? What I do now is I have to create a new file (with new number of artboards) and cut & paste - is there another way to do this?

Every tutorial has a different way of creating a mask but I can't figure out how to do it when the mask is a layer within an existing file. There's no option to save the mask to disk so I can load it into a new raster image to merge it with the image.
