How can you use a template file from your personal files to use it in an already existing .dwg file.
I knwo how to do it if I start the drawing from scratch and I select that template, but I want to put this existing drawing into my personal template file from my documents.
I recently update the template for my drawing files, change the title block, revision, note....and I can't find a clean way to import this template to the existing files. I tried the Drawing resource transfer wizard tool, but it doesn't seem to be doing anything that I want.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWe just installed the new version of 2012 Product Design Suite. I've spend many hours creating great little ilogic dialog boxes to populate iproperty fields using custom iproperties and then automatically place this data on the .idw file when the view is placed on the new drawing. All works great when the part is created with my new 2012 part template and then placed on my new 2012 idw template. The trouble is with parts that were created with 2011 Inventor. Obviously, the old template does not have the ilogic data built into it. Is there a way to upgrade/migrate the part template file from 2011 to 2012 on an existing part?
I think I'm asking for a miracle here, but I have an assembly with 40-50 parts that I created in 2011 and now need to build the idw files for them and would really like to be able have the customized iproperties added to the existing part files.
Currently have a template setup which we use and when everything is erased, purged, audited etc and the file literally cannot be purged any more the filesize is still 10mb.
There however several hundred items in the "Blocks" section of the purge dialogue box under "View items you cannot purge"..how do you get rid of these?
we have files containing hardly anything which are 20mb and empty files which are 10mb,
The default file location for the template .dwt file in my AutoCAD options keeps resetting to None (see attaached, red arrow). It should be the same location as the line below it (see attached, green arrow). I have reset it a few times now, but it keeps reverting back to None. Do you know why this is happening and/or how I can fix it so the setting will stay?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI`ve been trying to create a new drawing template in autocad 2013, I have saved it as a dwt file as suggested . When i go to open the new template the first thing i notice is that the thumb nail has a black ground , while the other templates that came with autocad have a white background !...when i open the dwt file it opens like a normal dwg file in model space not in paper space. the dwt file behaves as just a normal file .

View 1 Replies View RelatedI received a drawing today that doesn't allow me to choose existing ".ctb" files. Opening the "Plot style table (pen assignments)" from the Page Setup dialogue box. I can choose "Start from scratch" , use a "CFG" file, or "Use a PCP or PC2" file". I do not have any CFG files. I usually use PCP in my "Plot" dialogue box for the plotter pull-down menu.
How to use my plot style "BRhalf.ctb" when plotting this drawing. Also, a "heads-up" on background information on this drawing's plot style options, vs. the plot style options on many other drawings I have plotted.
I have an exisitng drawing with 80+ layouts tabs that I would like to copy to a new template drawing.
I tried to use design center but to no avail.
How can I do this?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm linking an excel file to an .ipt file with iLogic code determining if the Material type is a certian value it will find the correct material thickness. These file work great when working on them thru Vault but when I "Save As Template" and create this file where our other template files are located (not Vault) this fuction does not work. I have realized that I had to place the a copy of the excel file in the same file folder as the template ipt, but even this does not fix the issue.
I recieve this error:
Error in rule: Material, in document: Part6
'MWW Materials (Inventor).xlsx' could not be found. Check the spelling of the file name, and verify that the file location is correct.
If you are trying to open the file from your list of most recently used files, make sure that the file has not been renamed, moved, or deleted.
It seems completly countintutive that just saving the file as a template file would cause this not to work when all files that are required are located in the same file folder. Maybe I need a reference to the excel document within the iLogic code.
Autocad 2010 C3D. I have been trying to copy a file and place it in another but when I hit the copy command the hourglass comes on then nothing. I go to the Task Manager window and it says AutoCad is not responding. I have tried to copy a small portion and it works ok. The original drawing came from a DGN but I haven't had problems with this in the past. They just haven't been this large.

We got several image files every 2 weeks which should be edited and mainly reduced in size for web purpose. This work needs 1 work day for one man/woman to do, because he/she has to open the file save for web and then set the quality to a value were the file is nearly about 150-200 KB in size.
The images are different, some have few colors, some have a lot of colors and there are also different in resolution. But they should not be reduced in resolution, only in quality. All other specs of the image should be kept
Is there any possible script, plug-in or similar which can do the same (Saving with a specific max. file size) in some automatic and faster way?
I am trying to open a video to edit within Photoshop CS6 x64. I am getting the following message:-
Could not place the document ‘IMG_1664.MOV’ because no parser or file format can open the file.
The video was shot on my iphone 4S and ive even tried converting to other formats yet Photoshop still gives the same error. I have checked through Bridge and I have no option to send to Photoshop on the right click menu. try out the new features of CS6 for video editing.
I am running a 27" iMac with 12gb RAM and 1gb of Video RAM.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I from Photoshop CS6 chose to open a file, or "Place" the browser window open, but I have to scroll all the way down in the "Enable:" drop down menu to chose "All Documents" or "All readable Documents" each time. And then if I want chose from the "Format" menu.
This is very time consuming, and I don't find any settings to make i.e. "All Documents" as default.
I did a search around, and did not find the answer. Basically I have attempted to create an action in Photoshop CS6 which will save a file in the tiff format after i crop the image. I want the file name to be the name of the image (which is supposed to change depending on name of the image) like this:
1280x720_MGXXX.tiff, where, in my case the XXX represents DIFFERENT NUMBERS.
I want to apply the action to one image at a time. Each image has a different number (name). I record the action, add the 1280x720 text to the image name in the Save dialog. I am saving the image in a different folder from the source file. The source file name is _MGXXXX.tiff (again XXXX is a number like 2220...).
When I run the action on a file, say "_MG2221.tiff" it adds the 1280x720, and saves the file. When I apply the action on the next file (_MG2222.tif), the action overwrites the existing file, 1280x720_MG2221.tif, with the image. The action always uses the name I entered in the Save dialog!! I think I was able to do this in CS4 and CS5.
I want to be able to open a file, crop and adjust it, and then save in a diff location with 1280x720 pretended to the file name.
I saved a symbols file with a few symbols in it.
I then create new .ai files - create some graphics then want to save some of them in the symbols file.
I dont see a way of saving symbols from the .ai file into the already existing symbols file.

I have an existing image which i wish to use in gif format, and was wondering whether i can convert it into a *.psd file. my main problem is that the background of the image is white, and as i want to use it in my buttons i really need to make it transparent?
when trying to reopen a file from the "recently used" file list? When I try to click on a file from the list it gives me a message stating "error opening file". I know this will happen if the file has been moved to another location, but the files are in the same place as when I originally opened them. None of the files in the list will open anymore. Is this a pathing issue?

Is there a program that can rename a new file to match another file name (They are in 2 different folders)
What I have is hundreds of PDF files and I have to rename each of them to match the name of an existing file in another folder. Retyping the names is killing me. I hope to find a program to click on one to match another.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having problems with my drawing template, I can make changes no problem, but when I use the template to start a new idw file the changes are not in place.
For example; view preferences, I want to work in third angle, I have this selected on the template but each time I start a new idw I have to change it from 1st angle.
e.g. 2; sheet size, I changed it from text to a drawing property, but it doesn't change when I edit the sheet size.
I am running C3D 2013.
Is it a good practice to have several WMS connections already connected to the provider in our standard "dwt" template file? Will this affect the speed or performance of a drawing?

My target: in AutoCAD pops a dialog, select filename (related to our internal projects) string, then it will create a DWG file from a template DWT file. Then some operation like insert elements into the DWG file and then SAVE (with the filename assigned).

Well it doesn't work on either of #1-4
#1 give out "eFileInternalErr" exception, which I found the answer - you can't call save() if it's open from exist file
#2 works ... but it just save the contents we write to the database but won't save template file contents, ie. we have put in layers inside the template file but they doesn't save to the new file
#3 give out "drawing is busy" error, no clue why it's "busy" ...
#4 give out same error as #3
