Autocad 2010 C3D. I have been trying to copy a file and place it in another but when I hit the copy command the hourglass comes on then nothing. I go to the Task Manager window and it says AutoCad is not responding. I have tried to copy a small portion and it works ok. The original drawing came from a DGN but I haven't had problems with this in the past. They just haven't been this large.

I can do it directly from the commandline like this
But when I try and put it in a command macro in the CUI editor like this
^C^C_shell;copy "c:/temp/drawing1.dwg" "g:/temp";
it does not seem to work. It comes up with this on the commandline
but no copy of the file is made.
How can I get this to work without having to write an external file, such as a script or lisp?
How can you use a template file from your personal files to use it in an already existing .dwg file.
I knwo how to do it if I start the drawing from scratch and I select that template, but I want to put this existing drawing into my personal template file from my documents.
I am trying to open a video to edit within Photoshop CS6 x64. I am getting the following message:-
Could not place the document ‘IMG_1664.MOV’ because no parser or file format can open the file.
The video was shot on my iphone 4S and ive even tried converting to other formats yet Photoshop still gives the same error. I have checked through Bridge and I have no option to send to Photoshop on the right click menu. try out the new features of CS6 for video editing.
I am running a 27" iMac with 12gb RAM and 1gb of Video RAM.
Getting this error when trying to use downloaded ACTIONS. "Could not place the document ‘Photoshop_Actions_03_by_ReehBR.atn’ because no parser or file format can open the file."
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am copying a design in the vault & when i go through all the files to ensure they are all to 'copy' there is several which I cannot change their status from 'reuse' to 'copy'
I don't have any of the files checked out & they are all the latest versions.
When I from Photoshop CS6 chose to open a file, or "Place" the browser window open, but I have to scroll all the way down in the "Enable:" drop down menu to chose "All Documents" or "All readable Documents" each time. And then if I want chose from the "Format" menu.
This is very time consuming, and I don't find any settings to make i.e. "All Documents" as default.
I have attach one drawing if you open and copy this from one place to place then dimension is automatically increases. can i know how this increase or what type of this dimension it is.

it says something in the style of: An error occurred when trying to copy a file. The source file is corrupted.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using ACAD 2005 and am trying to copy&paste several objects from a layer I created in one .dxf file to one of the 2 standard layers (0 or Defpoints) in a new blank .dxf file.
My problem though is that if I copy and paste all of the objects (or even one of them) and them move to the new file and paste, it pastes the objects, but also "imports" into the new file the original file's layer that these objects were on.
For clarity, the new file only has the 2 standard layers and then after copy/pasting an object, the file manager shows the 3rd layer from the original file.
How to get postion of faces of part when place on idw drawing file???

If we use that we will get distance but how to get face postion on idw. do we need to use edges?? or lines?
Can I place an empty .ipt file into an assembly then start working on it?
Or do I have to create the new part, save it, then go into my assembly and place it?
When I insert a standard 6" square tube into an assembly there are all of the custom shapes and standard structural members to choose from. When I try to put the same tubing into a part file only the custom shapes are visible and no standard parts to choose from.
I can only guess that I have some obscure check box missing. There appears to be no good reason why I would be restricted in part files.

I am looking for the best way to place multiple columns in a single part file (as independant parts). I want to do this to accurately represent a steel structure that we purchase with a single part number. The structure is purchased and not modified so I figured a single part file would be better than an assembly file with multiple parts.
I thought the best way would be to extrude a 2D wide flange beam profile. However I would like to just pick the profile from a database (content center?) instead of going through the hassle of sketching each profile manually.

some problem we encountered after binding the xref become a block mostly like a baseplan & equipment system . can't edit block In-place in block references in latest autocad 2014 LT.
So I just upgraded to MEP 2013 last week and am in a bad situation where when I keep making my data link tables to a range on an excel table the file name's full address is not staying when I go to insert the table.
(ex. D:/Documents/JB Plans/NK.xlsm is just NK.xlsm when I try to insert the table)
Does some defaulting or setting that I haven't found involving this issue?
I'm starting with a new file on ofnuts recommendation...see "Edit GIF image file"
I have duplicated a GIF file from a website, so I can make changes and replace it. The new file I will be exported to PNG, GIF, TIF, or JPG when complete. It's a horizontal rectangle; the leftward white 2/3 has text I will change, the rightward 1/3 is all green. I have an XCF file that I copied from the GIF as a working file, and the new file, created from scratch, which now contains my new text. The new graphics must fit into the webpage and line up exactly.
I had "selected" the green section and pasted into my new file, but it was not completely left justified, like the original, so I slid it over with my cursor, but apparenlty "dropped" it too high, because when I place the new JPG file in the webpage, there's a little white line at the bottom of that file, and it needs to butt up against the green right below it. ie, no white space.
Rather than dragging and dropping imprecisely with my mouse, is there a way to place the green area with some sort of calibration tool? Like "by the numbers" or snapping it into place?
Is there a way to "read" the green area in my working file, to see the precise size?
Could it be possible like the way in Indesign, placing the PSD file and able to select different layers of PSD files?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy job is making PDFs "ready for print" - checking colours, making sure overprint is on where needed, adding trapping where needed, etc. After I'm done doing this, I add a logo outside of the printable area as proof that I have checked the file and it's OK for print and the date. This is always on the same spot: 5mm left from the left edge of the design and 5mm below the lower edge.
Right now, I have to keep the Illustrator file with the logo/date open at all times, go there, copy the image, go back to the design I was working on, paste it and enter the values manually to be sure it's in the right place (and then edit the date, of course).
It's time consuming and I was wondering if there's a way to make Illustrator place the logo and date on a pre-determined location without having to keep the file open. I can't just make an action that "places" the file there because then, I can't edit the date anymore.
We're now at the end of V4 and pushing V5. So, how do I do the equivalent of the File/Place in Bridge?

View 3 Replies View RelatedCurrently we create presentation documents InDesign. Each presentation page is a linked Illustrator file (the file contains drawings and description texts). We write the text in Illustrator instead of over it in InDesign because multiple designers/writers will work on each page. We have text that sometimes appear on multiple pages, this text has previously been copied and pasted into each Illustrator file that it needs to appear in, this is inefficient and prone to error.
Is there a way to link to a text file in Illustrator that remains updatable? I poked around here and found information relating to Variable Data – things similar to Data Merge in InDesign. This isn't the solution I'm looking for however. It seems like a plugin or script is the solution.
I have been working on a script to place a psd file onto only one visible layer (document has multiple hidden layers). This java code has worked so far:

however this works with only the top layer visible (eye turned on in Ai). if top most layer isn't visible i get "target layer cannot be modified" error.
For instance say i have 1,2,3 layers. layer 1 (top most) and 3 (bottom most) would be hidden, layer 2 (middle layer) would be visible and then running the script would place the psd file on to layer 2.
