AutoCAD 2013 :: Build A Spiral Staircase And Use Spline To Build The Railings?
Oct 10, 2013I am trying to build a spiral staircase and need to use spline to build the railings. Every time I try to end the spline by hitting enter the spline disappears. I am using 2014, and I have never had this problem before with previous versions.

Oct 7, 2012Tried to build git on SuSE 12.2, here's what I tried after I resolved some build deps:
export PATH=/opt/gimp-git/bin:$PATH
export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/opt/gimp-git/lib/pkgconfig
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/gimp-git/lib
then from same shell:
git clone git://git.gnome.org/babl
cd babl
./autogen.sh --prefix=/opt/gimp-2.8
make
sudo make install
So far, so good. Now when I try to build GEGL against the new BABL I get after
cd gegl
./autogen.sh --prefix=/opt/gimp-git
[...]
"checking for BABL... no

No package 'babl' found
Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Lightroom :: Blue Screen Of Death In 3.6?
Feb 22, 2012I recently built a PC for photo editing, and I am receiving the BSOD at different points when Lightroom is open. The first time it happened was when I was moving about 1000 raw files from one folder to another (did it twice to me doing that). From there, I grabbed the latest video card driver from Nvidia, and I also went into the bios and set my memory back to "Auto" rather than 1600 (which is what it's rated for). Thought maybe it was hardware related. Everything was going fine, I did some editing, and then while it was just sitting there with LR3 open, I got the BSOD again.
Here is what I'm running:
CPU - i7 3.4ghz 2600k
Mobo - Asus P8Z68-V LX LGA 1155 Intel Z68
RAM - G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
System SSD - Corsair Force Series GT CSSD-F120GBGT-BK 2.5" 120GB SATA III
-I have Windows 7 64-bit, Photoshop CS5.5 and Lightroom 3 installed on this drive and I also have current project photo files stored on this. Once done editing, I export them to a 1TB HDD.
Video - EVGA GeForce GTX 560 (Fermi) 1GB

AutoCAD LT :: Blue Screen Of Death At Startup
Jun 15, 2012One of my end users reports to me that his computer has been crashing. We soon learn that it crashes every time he starts AutoCad LT 2006.
What I have done so far is completely removed autocad and all associated programs. Reinistalled, installed a newer version (Autocad LT 2007), upgraded to the latest bios and firmware on the machine. Replaced the RAM, and just about everything else under the sun and this machine still crashes every time you start auto cad. I asked the user when the last time was that it worked and he said he was using it about a month ago just fine.
I installed the program on my identical laptop and it works just fine.
I ran the BSOD via Kernel mode through WinDBG and it points to ACPI.SYS. Being that this is a heavy system driver file, need getting this program to actually work short of me reinstalling the entire OS on the machine? The stop error is the 0x00000050 memory error.

Sep 14, 2012In preparing to build a new box for CS6 standard and LR4 (Win7, 64bit), I am not finding much info on how much video card memory CS6 is likely to be happy with, or, more accurately, what the upper limit of its usage is likely to be.
I'm running a card with 1GB now in CS5 standard and I have found that some GPU operations, such as Oil Paint in Pixel Bender, will choke and fail on 12MP, 16bit images -- normally after CS5 delivers this warning: Storage requirement for complex filters may overload GPU when processing large images.
do I need more GPU horsepower, more VRAM, or both? I know that Photoshop can allegedly get by with some fairly pedestrian hardware (I'm using an nVidia GT440 at the moment), but I plan on upgrading when building new. I'd just like to know if 2GB of VRAM will ever be used by Photoshop and how beefy a GPU I really need for processing the aforementioned 12MP, 16bit images (at some point that MP number will only become larger).

Mar 9, 2012Using LR4 (not the Beta) processing JPEGS in the web gallery module seems to be taking about 5-TIMES as long as in LR 3 (or processing the same set of JPEGS to the same size and quality in Develop module in LR4).
I'm not a software engineer, but I would have thought that processing a large set of images using the same spec would be an excellent opportunity to utilise multi-core processors, and that doesn't seem to be happening on my system:

Photoshop :: Could Not Build Preview Because Of Program Error - CS6 / Mac?
Dec 22, 2012I have a very simple two-layer image, and am using layer style "bevel and emboss" and the preview of changes starts out working fine. A little more monkeying around and the preview stops refreshing and the OK button just flashes. Click on OK to exit the layer style window and try to save the file (so I can quit and come back in) and I get this error: "Cannot build a preview because of a program error" and the file is not saved.
I found a similar thread on a support forum that suggested disabling all visible layers and saving, which works for saving the file. But when I try to preview my layer changes, it's back to the way it was: the first preview may show, then it stops entirely.
I am using CS6 13.1 x64 extended on a Mac running 10.8.2 with 8G of RAM and no other open apps.

tried a Photoshop / Premiere / After Effects animated model of some buildngs? They're pretty simple geometry--old wood frame houses, etc. Just want to maybe pan around a little. Change the point of view.

Jun 2, 2011Situation - running VS10 and have been for a while now. However for some reason recently I've failed to manage to capture video from my Panasonic NV-GS11 mini-DV. The error is simply "Failed to build a preview graph".
I've checked and re-installed the VS10 SP1, as well as the Vista patch someone mentioned in one topic here I did find, but so far no change. I'm just a bit leery of something that has worked fine in the past, but for some reason that's changed...

AutoCAD Inventor :: Won't Sweep Or Build Pipe Run?
Mar 22, 2012I tried the tube and pipe run to build this segment, and cannot select the route from the 3D sketch.
This route was based off of a 3D sketch made from included geometry from another part.
Tried sweeping too - and get error that the sweeping operation did not produce a meaningful result.
But I don't get the self intersecting error.
All this is is a .250 OD and .180ID profile that needs to be run through the path.
I included the part file.

Oct 20, 2011I built an assembly made of some sheet metal parts.
Now - I wanted it to be easily changeable, meaning: in order that each part will adjust according to the other, for instance, it's length, height etc. , and will move with it and adjust, I first made work points on the mating part edges, and then in the relevant part's sketch ( I made the work point inside of the part, not the assembly!) I projected the point.
I was sure that because I see the work point with the "adaptive" symbol , the workp point will move with the parts if I change the dimensions.
It didn't work: For some reason when I'm changing dimensions, the work point stay where it was, even though it's with the "Adaptive" symbol, which makes me wonder what does it really mean (the symbol) if it point won't move along with the part while it changes.
What is the best way for me to do it? Did I have to project the points/edges in the sketch without doing a "work point' before?
My experience with the inventor lately shows that this method isn't working either. I'm sure there a "right" way to do it!
This is very important and elementary thing to do - to adjust part (with their sketches) according to the other.

Oct 23, 2013Until now I have used Civil 3D for small projects. Now I'm starting a large project, 30 parcels, 5 roads in rough terrain.
Earlier I got some problems with some surfaces of the new construction that unwanted connected together. This time I want to get control of all small new "constructions" (parcels and roads) and connect them to the surface. I realize the original surface will be covered 100% of new terrain. How will I be able to connect all the surfaces together so that I can eventually create a single surface with all the new designs? (and run the waterdrop :-)
How to build all surfaces into the system?
