I'm trying to render 24 characters of text with line breaks in 3D, because, as we know, 3D can be very spiffy... but I get:
"Could not complete your request because the path is too complex"
Interesting, I'm on a rocketship workstation with a fairly stealthy config. All is updated to the latest ver., 13.1.2.. Not the greatest card in the world (Quadro 2000), but it seems more than ample for this task..
It works fine with 9 characters on one line... Ok, possibly (or rather likely) I have too much text (24 characters? Line breaks?

I have some Japanese fonts installed on my cpu and I was trying to use them in PhotoShop (PS) but they don't show up as the Japanese (and other) characters. In photoshop CS2 in the font selection drop down menu you know it gives you a preview of that font using the word "Sample" for that particular font. For example if you were to look at Arial to the right of it the word "Sample" will be demostrated in the Arial font. (yeah that was confusing to type) Well in that dropdown menu it displays in the Japanese characters. However, when I select that font to begin typing it uses normal alphanumeric characters. When i previewed the font in the windows font viewer it is also displays as normal alphanumeric characters.
Example fonts: MS Gothic, MingLIU,SimSun.
I believe all of these are True Type Fonts

I'm experiencing a very bizarre problem in CS with a font special character. I used Extensis Suitcase to examine all the font characters for a particular font that I'm using on a project. The character mapping shows the key combination for the character I want is (on a Mac) Option/Alt + Z.
This works in every other application on my computer, including my email application, but for some reason, within CS it brings up the Omega character. Any idea why this happens and how I change it? I even tried to type the character in Word and cut and paste it into Photoshop and it changes! What gives?

I'm using Illustrator CS6 on a Mountain Lion Mac. Got a weird problem with one of my fonts. I'm used to type accented characters like é by typing option-e plus e. Which works so far. On one of my fonts however, EuroComic, when I want to type the é character and start with option-e, it already changes the font to Myriad Pro. Typing the e after that makes it é, but in Myriad Pro, not EuroComic. It has always worked before when I was still using Snow Leopard. And it's not a font problem I think, cause in Indesign that same way of using option-e plus e works. The é is at the correct spot in EuroComic cause when I select all text and change it to EuroComic (after having typed that é), not only does all text turn into EuroComic again, but also that now Myriad Pro é turns back to EuroComic é. What could it be that could make illustrator turn the font to Myriad Pro after typing option-e on that parcitular font? With other fonts like Arial etc.

Let's say I create a poster with a couple of blocks of text in Illustrator, using a single font. Then, I generate a PDF of the poster.
Now, on the same computer, I open the PDF in Illustrator, and Illustrator pops-up an alert saying some text has been outlined to preserve appearance. And, indeed, here and there throughout the text, some words, combination of words, or whole lines of text have been outlined, but most of the text is still live.
Why does this happen? There's no difference, font-wise, between the text that is untouched, and the text that got outlined. Same face, same weight. In fact, the same word, set the same way, will be untouched in one line, and be outlined elsewhere in the text. It's really baffling.

I see numerous redundant copies of every font family style listed when I select a font family STYLE of any typeface, such as Helvetica or Arial, for example.
Throughout the day the list increases copies of each style exponentially by the hour. At the end of the day I am scrolling through 98 copies of Helvetica Bold to get to the next style, like Black. There should only be one Helv. Bold, one Black, one Condensed, and so on.
My fonts are cleaned and organized frequently with any corrupted fonts being removed immediately. I use FontExplorer X, Font Doctor and other type apps to manage fonts because FontBook is still retarded.

I want to create a table with all characters inside a font.I used "%%" to change a number to it's character.but "%%" limited to 999 and for numbers bigger than 999 it doesn't work.
also, CHR command limited to 255 and for numbers bigger than 255 it change to (number-255). so I used "%%" to create this table:[Please change default font in your AutoCAD to ARIAL]
(Defun c:charmap ()
(setvar "cmdecho" 0)
(setq cnt 1.0)
(setq r_cnt 0.0)
(setq ts 32)
(setq x 0.0)
(setq y 0.0)
[code]...
I want to know:
1- what can I do for numbers more than 999?
2- How can I know the number of characters inside a font?
3-how can improve my LISP program to have complete characters inside the fonts?

BIGselectWORD
I'd like to edit just those internal letters for font size and color, etc, but leave the outer letters alone.
In other graphics progs I've tried, you can usually just select those particular letters and edit but I tried that in gimp but couldn't do it

I am using Gimp 2.6.11. I have had the same issue with all older versions.
For whatever reason, GIMP refuses to open any file that contains non-English characters. For example, if I try to open a file called GoranDragićDunk.png, it will tell me there is no such file or directory. Changing the file name to GoranDragicDunk.png fixes the issue, so it's clearly to do with having Ć instead of C. Now, the problem is that it also does this if the foreign characters are found anywhere within the path, so that it will not open C:\My Files\NBA\GoranDragić\AwesomePass.png either because it contains the Ć within the path name.
Now, I know that older versions of programs such as Adobe Acrobat had this same issue, but it was fixed years ago. Am I the first person to notice this with GIMP? It shocks me that such a simple thing has not been fixed yet. Would I have to install a foreign-language version of GIMP?

I have a jpg of a Pokémon picture that the filename is Japanese character text, and Gimp ALWAYS give a "failed to open '?????????????.jpg'" error message when opening files containing Japanese characters!!! I can put Japanese characters using the text tool into a picture using gimp so I KNOW it knows the Japanese charset, but that error message ALWAYS occurs with images with filenames containing Japanese characters.

I've been using DAZ Studio 4.5 for a little more than three weeks now and I've downloaded GIMP in case I need to do any postwork(not that I know how yet.) So far all I've done with GIMP is rescale some files.
Now I do need to do some postwork. I need to find a way to take a bitmap from a figure in a photograph(a complex multi-colored tattoo) and apply it to a figure in one of my renders. What looks to be the hardest part of the problem is that the skin color of the two figures isn't very similar.

how to make your render "pop-out" of the signature area. It gives a really cool effect and is really simple to do. When we are done, it will look a little like this.
OK, to begin, you need to prepare your render. I am going to use this one.
Feel free to use it if you want to.
Open up a new image with the dimensions of 400 x 125. Now you will need to make a background. I'm not going to give any real steps on how to do this, but if you look around on this site, there are many tutorials showing you how to make them. Try using this one, as it is the way I am going to make mine. Don't add the render to your background though. We will do that later.
Following those steps you will get something like this. If you want to add a border, now is the time to do it. The link to the tutorial I told you about above will also show you how to do this.
You now have both a background and a render. Press Ctrl + A to select everything. Now go to:
Image ---> Canvas Size A window like the screenshot below will appear. If you made the size of your image 400 x 125 like I told you, simply set the settings to the same as shown. If you have used a different size, double the width and height of your image and type what the numbers come to into the boxes names "Width" and "Height". Set the offset X and Y values the same as in the screenshot.
Press "Resize".
Your canvas will now look something a little like this.
This is just how you want it.
Now for your render. Open it up and it will appear in a new window. If its to big, resize it. Now go back to your signature window and make a new layer. Copy your render and paste it on to your new layer. A handy tip to know is when you press F11, it will bring The GIMP into full screen mode allowing you to see what you are doing clearly. You should get something like this. Yours will have little dotted squares all behind it though like the image above. Its OK, its how it should be.
Now add some text or whatever you want on your signature. A cool way to make text look good is to type what you want out on to your signature in white, move it to where you want it to be, set that layer's mode to "Overlay" and then duplicate it untill it looks nice. Heres what I got. Again, squares should still be present.
Now merge all the visible layers by pressing Ctrl + M. Select the first option. Now right click on the layer in the layers window and select "Alpha to Selection". This will select all your signature. Copy it by pressing Ctrl + C. Then go to:
Edit ---> Paste as New
This will open up a new window with your signature in it. Go to:
File ---> Save as . . .
Save it as "Popout Signature.png" it must be in a .png for it to work.
Thats it your all done! This is what I got.

I have been playing with GIMP now for several months and love the program. One problem I have run into is I cannot figure out render the background of an image transparent so it can be merged with another image. Now, I have tried to read the instructions numerous times, but I have no background in understanding what a path is and several other terms. I have failed time and again and finally decided this is not something I can learn to do on my own.
Warning: I'll be honest. I have no experience in any form of image manipulation and even simple things might need to be explained.

Today I upgraded from a 2.6 version of Gimp to 2.8.4 in an attempt to solve this rather vexing problem. (Mac OS 10.6.8)
I'm working on a project modifying some existing poster art that already contains a font called Plaza Swash. The originator sent me the font for installation into my (Mac) system, which I did using Font Book. No problem there as Plaza Swash shows up in the list as being perfectly accessible. However, using the text tool in Gimp, this font does not appear in the list. It appears in every other program I have that can access fonts, I just cannot get it to appear in Gimp. I really need to use this font, too. As I said I'm modifying existing work and I need my work to match. This is not the first time I've installed new fonts, it's just the first time I cannot get one to work. It is a true type font and shouldn't present a problem.
