How to make logos in gimp. I want it to be Noob-proof because i really don't know how people make all of those logo's Oo.
i want to make things like this: [URL]..... [URL].... [URL]...... [URL]..... [URL]......
if needed i would even buy adobe creative cloud .
I'm trying to create the attached two logos I drew. The top is a stand alone "A" logo with a space background inside the star and a metalic A and loop.
The second also is metalic lettering except for the s which I would like to be bright yellow at the start and fade down the underline.
I want to remove multiple photos and logos from their white backgrounds so I can make an image and text for a video I am doing. The problem is that the image includes the white backgrounds which then cover the other photos. What is the quickest and easiest way to remove these images and logos from their white backgrounds so the layers only consists of the images and not the square backgrounds?
I have imported each picture into their own layers. I can't find a "magic wand" tool though.
Windows 7; Photoshop 13 (CS6).I am typing some text in a new layer; no problem so far. I need to insert some special characters that are not on the keyboard, e.g.TōkaiThat also was not a problem; I copied the character from the Windows Character Map.
Now I want to copy/paste more special characters from the Character Map, e.g.
☏ (U+260F) or
✉ (U+2709)
Now all of a sudden this does not work; the pasted characters appear in Photoshop as a boxed X.The font I have been using was Arial, but when I pasted these Unicode characters, the font automatically changed to Myriad Pro. Changing the font back to Arial does not alter the boxed X.
I took these Unicode characters from the Character Map using font Arial Unicode MS. That font does not appear in Photoshop.Questions:are there any Unicode fonts available in Photoshop?is there any other way to paste such characters into Photoshop?
I need to select a few characters within a larger word
BIGselectWORD
I'd like to edit just those internal letters for font size and color, etc, but leave the outer letters alone.
In other graphics progs I've tried, you can usually just select those particular letters and edit but I tried that in gimp but couldn't do it
all font characters in ALL fonts render as asterisks (*) in Gimp 2.8.8 which 2.8.6 had the SAME issue!!! looks like I need to go BACK to 2.8.4 because ANYTHING later WON'T render fonts!
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm playing a racing and I'd like to screenshot my cars, or some of them, and cut them out to a transparent background.
So I want to be able to take the car out of the picture, with a tracer pen (if possible). I used to know how to do this awhile back but I done and forgot how after stopping making signatures and stuff.
I would like to add Greek characters to an image, to describe some properties of a circle, arcs, angles, etc.
Is this possible with GIMP? If so, how?
I tried to type some alt characters today when adding text and they didn't work?
Is there something I need to do to enable this?
I want to type in gimp(using text tool) with some special characters from my native language like(ā, ē, č, ķ, ģ). If i try to do it in gimp I get á, é, ć, ḱ, ǵ. Are there some settings or plugins that allow me to type these non-English characters like I do it usually.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using Gimp 2.6.11. I have had the same issue with all older versions.
For whatever reason, GIMP refuses to open any file that contains non-English characters. For example, if I try to open a file called GoranDragićDunk.png, it will tell me there is no such file or directory. Changing the file name to GoranDragicDunk.png fixes the issue, so it's clearly to do with having Ć instead of C. Now, the problem is that it also does this if the foreign characters are found anywhere within the path, so that it will not open C:\My Files\NBA\GoranDragić\AwesomePass.png either because it contains the Ć within the path name.
Now, I know that older versions of programs such as Adobe Acrobat had this same issue, but it was fixed years ago. Am I the first person to notice this with GIMP? It shocks me that such a simple thing has not been fixed yet. Would I have to install a foreign-language version of GIMP?
I have a jpg of a Pokémon picture that the filename is Japanese character text, and Gimp ALWAYS give a "failed to open '?????????????.jpg'" error message when opening files containing Japanese characters!!! I can put Japanese characters using the text tool into a picture using gimp so I KNOW it knows the Japanese charset, but that error message ALWAYS occurs with images with filenames containing Japanese characters.

How do I change the color of specific characters in a line of text?
I have a keyboard shortcut for Copy (see directly below). This command doesn't copy multiple. But if I type "Copy" at the comment prompt (AutoCAD 2013) the copy multiple is the default. Copymode is already set to "0".
(DEFUN C:C()
(setvar "SNAPMODE" 1)(COMMAND "_COPY")

I downloaded the Layer via copy cut plug-in at Deviantart but when I tried to copy/cut a layer I got a message saying that it crashed. So I foolishly uninstalled the old 2.8 version and re-installed the latest 2.8.8. However when I tried to install the copy cut plug-in again nothing happens. I was able to install the noise generator, but it just won't do the Layer copy cut. Is there a way around this? I've tried so many times that at this point I'd rather go back to the previous 2.8 version. How can I find the original 2.8 Download.

I have not got the hang of layers but i need to copy text/letters from a scanned page
How do i do i copy and paste text from one jpg to create another. I have tried Ctl + c to copy but when i click the other layer to then Ctrl + A and then CTRL + P to paste like a youtbe video suggests, instead of the copied text being pasted on i get a dialogue window for the printer.
Every time I try to copy an image (with a transparent BG) and paste it into my overall project I'm working on, both opened in GIMP, I always get just the selected dotted lines as an outline of the image.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got a background layer that I want to copy and create a new file with it but I'm not sure how to do that.
Also, how do I get the color specs so I could simply go in and recreate it at will?
I'm not new to GIMP by any means, but I am new to THIS Gimp. By that I mean, I recently downloaded 2.8.4 for Mac and got rid of my older copy.
Now I'm having a strange problem:
Whenever I try to copy images from webpages (or anywhere that ISN'T saved to my computer and opened in Gimp), I get a message that says "There is no data in the clipboard to paste" when I attempt to paste it into an open Gimp document.
Is there some sort of setting I have to enable?
I have made background png pictures and I have copied sections of such pictures onto other pictures, but the copy is never translucent or partly transparency and I have not found a way to do that. I can choose a degree of opacity when I simply fill an area with a solid color, but I have not found that option in the copy command. Is there such a capability in Gimp?
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhy I can't copy a section of a layer.
I open a .jpg file and then using the Rectangle select tool highlight a section of the image. I then click CTRL+X and it actually cuts the whole layer showing me just the empty background.
All I want to do, is open the .jpg, copy or cut a section from it to a new image.
if i do a print screen, and then paste that into gimp, then i use the selection tool to select a small portion of the original image, how do i paste it onto a new layer that matches the dimensions of the cut out selection i copied or cut? I have been doing it the uber hard way of where i copy the selection, create new layer and keeps the same pixle dims as the original so i have had to manualy change it and guess what dims i need. takes to long. is there a way to just copy/cut and paste a selection onto a new layer that automatically fits the same dims as the selection so i do not have to keep doing it the hard way?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm a longtime Photoshop user in the process of switching to Gimp. I've successfully used Gimp for very simple things like brightness/contrast, color adjustment, and sharpening of single-layer images. What I'm trying to do now involves creating a copy of the background and placing it next to the background image, and I can't figure out how to make it work.
Here's what I'm doing:
1. Resize the canvas to twice the width of the original image, leaving the original image at left. This creates a "blank" area to the right which displays as a checkerboard pattern.
2. The area of the original image is already selected (i.e., it already has a frame around it), so I copy and paste it. This creates a floating selection, duly noted in the list of layers.
3. But when I try to move the floating selection to position it to the right of the original image, in the blank area, it appears to disappear behind the checkerboard pattern.
I'm making a mixtape and want to take a ninth of nine album covers and put them together. How can I select a ninth of the images to copy into a new one? One would be the top left, the next top middle, etc.
