View 5 Replies View RelatedToday I upgraded from a 2.6 version of Gimp to 2.8.4 in an attempt to solve this rather vexing problem. (Mac OS 10.6.8)
I'm working on a project modifying some existing poster art that already contains a font called Plaza Swash. The originator sent me the font for installation into my (Mac) system, which I did using Font Book. No problem there as Plaza Swash shows up in the list as being perfectly accessible. However, using the text tool in Gimp, this font does not appear in the list. It appears in every other program I have that can access fonts, I just cannot get it to appear in Gimp. I really need to use this font, too. As I said I'm modifying existing work and I need my work to match. This is not the first time I've installed new fonts, it's just the first time I cannot get one to work. It is a true type font and shouldn't present a problem.
I'm using MAC OSX.
I downloaded a font called Palace Script in ttf format. I found my fonts folder in Gimp and copied the font file to the fonts folder.
Then I restarted Gimp.
The font does not show up when I try to select it.
I also tried installing the font using the font manager and it installed, and I can only use it Pages.
so im trying to do text but my font keeps looking all pixelated and shit also not sure if its in the right section

View 2 Replies View RelatedAm making a brochure, use the pre-set A5 print size. All great, but when converting the XCF file to PDF the fonts are not represented correct and are drastically reduced in size.
I tried the flattening option, but that takes a lot of resolution/sharpness out of the file and makes it less fit for printing.
I have made my own font since none of the Gimp fonts suited my purpose. I would like to curve it to a path; I have curved a Gimp font to a path already. Can't seem to figure it out.. I only just downloaded it an hour ago. I've been using Paint.NET

All of the sudden, GIMP is now using the old style of fonts and interface, and I don't know why. The only thing that I can imagine might have caused it is that I just downloaded Synfiq and that used a similar interface. However, to test that theory, I just deleted Synfiq from my computer, but my GIMP interface is still in the old style.
I guess it's not a huge deal because (as far as I can tell) the change hasn't affected functionality.
I'm sure there's a way to highlight (outline) a font, but I can't find it.

Here is a quick video I made with Jing showing my problem. You can see in the video that font selection changes and sizes changes, though.

I have this picture i with some text, its a company name and a department name. I would like to add something in the end of the department name.
So my question is - is it possible to get the font from text on the picture and write some more text with that?
I saw it once & it appeared (by accident) on the left side tool box. All of the properties of the text - i.e. size etc was shown on the tool box. How do I make that happen again ? I am brand new to Gimp.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have many programs on my Ubuntu 12 machine that use text, LibreOffice, Scribus, etc. Each of those works quite well. In GIMP 2.8, the entire program works fine for my from what I can tell with the exception of the text tool. I can select the tool, enter text, I can bold, underline it, I can change to color, as well as the fint size. GIMP will crash however each and every time I try to change the font, be it on the floating text dock (above the text window on the canvas) or the Text toolbar on the left had side of the screen (single window mode). I get no drop down selection box, I merely click in either area, a short freeze of the program and the program quits. Any error report I can send/paste? I am relatively new to bu reporting in Ubuntu, so would need step by step instructions of necessary documentation etc.

I can do the first word in one layer and open up a second layer for the next few words, but as soon as I start typing the second word, the first one becomes the color of the second word.
Wow, I am trying to ask about the lack of fonts in Gimp 2.8.4, when I cannot find a font list or size list here on this document!
Edit/ Preferences states that the fonts are to be found in the following directories:
C:UsersHubert.gimp-2.8fonts
C:Program FilesGIMP 2sharegimp2.0fonts (note the '2.0')
The first one is empty, and the second one does not exist.
This problem has been mentioned on the internet, but no answer has yet been stated.
I don't know how to populate those spaces with fonts that can be used by Gimp.
DO YOU?
I was wondering how you might make a custom font fill I want to make a background come through like the american flag does on this image I want to update this logo/font to a higher res.
