GIMP :: Missing Arial Narrow Font?
Jul 17, 2012I use GIMP 2.8.0 on Windows 7. For some strange reason Text Tool doesn't have Arial Narrow font in its list.
How can I use this font?

AutoCad 2D :: Arial Narrow Font Display In 2011
Jun 19, 2011why the Arial narrow font used in dwg files from earlier Acad version won't display as expected in Acad 2011/Windows 7/32 Bit.
All text characters display as a very simple thin lines of constant thickness no matter how close you zoom in. Neither can I create new text using A/Narrow though all other fonts work ok.
Files with this issue were created in WindowsXP on a PC and the problem is surfacing on Win7 running on VM Ware Fusion installed on iMac & therefore preventing me from fully migrate over to Mac as I need to work now and again on old files.
Illustrator :: Arial Narrow Bold In CS6?
Feb 26, 2014How can I use Arial Narrow Bold in Illustrator CS6? In CS5 I can choose Arial Narrow as a font and just make it bold. Now in CS6 I only find Arial as a font and can make it either narrow or bold but not both. I have installed the ”whole” Arial font family in windowsfonts, so there I can find Arial Narrow, but why does it and the other Arial fonts appear in Illustrator?

Dec 10, 2008i have photoshop 7.0 on a windows xp machine. trying to work with a psd file that uses arial narrow bold and arial narrow italic fonts. when i dragged the file into photoshop, it told me those fonts weren't available. downloaded arialnb.ttf and arialni.ttf from the internet, went into my control panel - fonts folder and deleted the old ones that weren't being recognized and installed the new ones. they are still not recognized. microsoft word doesn't recognize them either.

AutoCAD Architecture :: Arial Font Substitution In Dimensions?
Jan 4, 2013Everytime I select Mtext, specifically in a dimension, Autocad 2010 Arch automatically switches the highlighted (computed measurement) text to Arial before I've done anything. So everytime I have to edit a dimension Mtext, I have to reselect the computed dimension (<> / highlighted text), then select the correct text style again to get it back to the correct text style I'm using (FluxArch ttf). All of my text styles in the file have no association w/ Arial, and all the dimension styles rely on the text styles...so I'm stumped. Do I need to repair Autocad due to it Mtext editor being corrupted or something to get it to work properly again?

AutoCAD Print / Plot :: Arial Or TTF Font Changes Width When Plotting
Nov 2, 2011We have noticed when using Arial.TTF (Client Required) that when plotting hard copies out, we have discovered that the width of the text line is different than it shows in Autocad. We have done several troubleshooting tests, and are convinced it has something to do with it being a TTF font and different drivers or devices scale the fonts differently. I have scoured the net, but cannot find discussion on this issue.
We have tried:
Plot Style Tables - No effect
Various plotters - Same issue, but different degrees of width change
re-creating drawings - no effect
AutoCAD version - no effect
I have attached a sample file that we have used to test this issue - incase it might have an issue in the file it's self.
To see the biggest difference plot to fit a D+ size using Extents vs Window around the Text only.

One annoying thing is that the Visio drawings got Arial as text style and my company want everything in their own textstyle. So at the moment I single click all text bar and change the style, there must be a faster way to fix this.

- From what I hear, Revit drawings don't use shape files and do not do translate well with Revit. Is this correct?
- Is it easier to make a searchable PDF or DWF with a true type font?

AutoCad :: Generating PDFs - Cannot Find Or Create Font Arial-Black
Apr 14, 2011When I open a pdf produced using dwgtopdf I get a warning from Adobe Acrobat that it "cannot find or create the font 'Arial-Black'. Some characters may not display or print correctly".
Looked at the files present within the template when I go to e-transmit and inded, there is no sign of that font, but the title block displays perfectly well.
Checked my fonts folder in control panel and while there is an 'Arial Black', there is no 'Arial-Black'.
Is this a problem within ACAD or Adobe Acrobat. The problem has only appeared over the last few weeks.

Aug 22, 2009I'm using ACAD LT 2010. I use the basic Arial font for all text and the mtext command to insert text. On occasion I use some of the standard symbols such as the degree symbol (%%d) and +/- symbol (%%p) among others. When I plot to the printer everything prints fine, but when I plot to PDF using the standard DWG to PDF plotter setup that comes with LT2010 the symbols and usually the entire line that the symbol is on either doesn't plot or it plots a series of boxes for each character in that line. I experimented with a couple of other different fonts and the same symbols. Some plotted to PDF correctly others did as stated above.

Nov 28, 2013I had been using 2.8.0, adding some text to graphics. I came back from a brief break, and the next time I added text, the font was extremely narrow, to the point that it was illegible.
At first I tried simply shutting GIMP down and restarting. No such luck. Next, I uninstalled GIMP, then I ran CCleaner to get rid of any residual files and settings, then I reinstalled GIMP, still using the 2.8.0 Windows installer, and still, the issue persisted.
** EDIT ** I tested ALL fonts, the problems happens with each one.
So I uninstalled again, did the CCleaner thing, then downloaded and installed 2.8.8, and the problem still persists.
Again, fonts and texts had been working without an issue all day. I stepped away from my PC to get food. There was no one in the house that could have messed with any settings, no pets to accidentally press keys or anything like that.
I am at a complete loss. I've looked at every possible setting I could think of that could possibly impact how fonts are rendered, and changing settings still does nothing.
I have found an inconvenient workaround for this problem, but at least I can now get some work done.
The problem still occurs when I try to insert text into an EXISTING image, but if a create a NEW IMAGE with a background color, text displays and renders as it should. If I choose a transparent background, I still get the problem with the text rendering too narrow to be legible.
So something about existing images and/or transparent backgrounds contributes to this issue. But as long as I create my text layer in a new image, I can then just copy and paste that layer into the image I want to edit, and I can even edit the text once it has been pasted without problems.
Still, this is very inconvenient, especially when I am trying to place text in precise positions.
Illustrator :: Save Text In SVG Files As Arial And Not Arial-MT
Oct 20, 2013I work for a website company and spend a lot of time producing images which contain standard text within svg files for use on webpages. I have noticed that the text in these files often doesn't display properly: it is misaligned and in sarif. I have found this is due to many browsers not recognising the text 'Arial-MT' that illustrator uses as its standard Arial font.
It seems that Illustrator makes it impossible to save text within svg files as Arial - a universal font that all web browsers can read. This seems like a critical failure in Illustrator and basically makes Illustrator unusable for web-based svgs...
At the moment I have resorted to creating a program that finds and replaces Arial-MT to Arial within the actual svg file. Any actual way within illustrator to save Arial AS Arial and not this ridiculous Arial-MT fonttype that no webbroswer can use.

Jul 8, 2012I was using Extensis Suitcase Fusion 4 trial, and it ended, but when it did now because I can't use it, somehow it must have removed or just had de-activated the photoshop internal system font. All of my panels and menus etc except for the top windows-menus lists, but everything else is missing - blank. I can't do anything in photoshop practically speaking. Cannot see any layer names etc... normal type-tool and fonts loaded show up, but nothing in the program itself. So I can't even enter numerical values for anything. Illustrator, Indesign, Flash, Muse, Bridge, Premiere, After Effects - -- all of these are working just fine.... what is the specific font I need to re-install for Photoshop to display? It is the same font that starts listing when you open the program on the splash logo where it is saying "loading fonts" etc and all that stuff, its just blank..

Apr 10, 2013I have linotype and i often type things in and scroll thru to see what font looks best. However, There are are a lot of fonts that are not available to PS cs5. Some of these fonts have Adobe at the design of their manes. They did not exist previous to me installing PS so i figure these are specifically made by Adobe fonts.
So why are these fonts not available in PS? Do i need a better font manager?
Photoshop :: Helvetica Regular Font Missing In CS3 But Not In CS5 On Same Computer?
May 8, 2012I have both Photoshop CS3 and CS5 installed on a Windows 7 64-bit system. Photoshop CS5 has two Helvetica fonts: one TrueType and one Type 1. The TT version only offers italic and bold italic styles. The T1 font offers the full suite of bold, italic, bold italic (or oblique), and medium (or regular). This seems odd, but it's sufficient. Photoshop CS3, on the same computer, only offers me the Helvetica TT font, with just the two styles mentioned above. Why can't CS3 see the T1 Helvetica? Why does the TT Helvetica only show me two styles? In case it's relevant, I believe the Type 1 version is the only one I deliberately installed, and I recently upgraded to a 2010 version of the font made available by Adobe.
