View 3 Replies View Related I am working on a 44-page document, opening a pdf in GIMP. I've never done anything like this before yet have taught myself how to work page to page, insert images between the text blocks on each page, resize the images and position them where I want, even in more than one layer. (That in a couple of days, me a novice! HOWEVER, after working hours on my project, thinking I was saving as I went, I discovered after the fact that I was only saving the highlighted page, not the entire document. I lost all my work, twice! Luckily I had only gotten through page 7.
The project requires me to need to see all the pages, sometimes to backtrack to reposition an image in order to achieve a consistent flow. At the end I will save as a pdf, flattening all images. In the interim, I need to be able to get back in, day-to-day, to continue the detailed work.
PS. I'm using Gimp 2.8 on a MacBook 10.6.8. And yes I know to save as .xcf while the work's in progress.
I have a 4 page PDF file created from a Word text.
I'm managed to create an *animated* JPEG of all 4 pages of that PDF.
I don't know how to create a static JPEG as one file of all 4 pages of that PDF - so it's not animated?
I am trying to load single pages from multi page tiffs, convert them to monochrome (dithered), flatten the image, then save them as single monochrome, ccitt group4 tiffs. - all through scripts.
The multipage tiffs contain pages in grayscale and color which were created using the old style (problematic) JPEG compression option.
I have tried other tools, such as libtiff (modified with a patch to handle the old jpeg compression), and the latest version of imagemajick. Unfortunately they cannot correctly convert the files, whereas gimp can, but only one page of the multi-page tiff at a time(gimp crashes if I load a 5page document (as separate images) then convert each image to monochrome, flatten and save in one session)
the scripting function for loading tiffsfile-tiff-load does not expose the options to load individual pages, or to select loading as images or as layers, which the visual file load/import does.
How I can achieve this using a script.? Manually is not a problem, but too time consuming for large (eg. 200page) tiffs.
Several times a week I need to take a PDF (single-page doc), then convertto a page-sized PNG with quality good enough to read the text (and atransparent border), and then convert to a SWF. I have a PNG-to-SWFutility, but when I used it on the PNG saved after I opened my PDF andexported from GIMP, the end result was not good enough. A co-worker saidGIMP couldn't make a PNG (w/transparency) with enough quality. He said we'dhave to use some other software. Part of the issue was not being able toresize without losing quality before the PNG export. True or false?

View 13 Replies View RelatedI would like to work with layers to create a new photo. I can open multiple photos, but I cannot seem to get multiple photos together in the palette. I just end up with a separate palette for each photo. With each indiv. photo I can make a layer, but I can't drag another photo into the palette, I can't cut and paste, etc.
I have viewed on-line tutorials, read two separate books and on-line help and they all seem to indicate I can just open multiple photos, unlock, layer, make alterations, then merge together. I can't figure out if I'm just missing a very important step or if I am having software issues.
This is probaly a basic question for the photoshop CS4. I have CS4 on my computer. I am trying hard to incorporte more than one picture into differnet layers so I can merge the pictures together as one. I have a book on Photoshop CS4 which shows what I want to do however I still cannot seem to do it. I open about 3 pictures I have saved in a file. I have them in the document of my photoshop page. I create new layers and I get stuck.
I tried copy and paste and I can't seem to get one picture in the right place on the document. I tried the drag and click and it will end up on a place in the background I don't want. The book I have does not seem to go throught all the steps clearly. I was wondering if anyone else has done this in CS4 and how it turned out. I need basic steps. It's been days trying this and I get more confused.
I'm new to this forum, and not even an intermediate PhotoShop user (ver. 5.5 Windows XP).
But I have read though a couple of books, and cannot find a way through PhotoShop to place different photographs on one page. I am able to do it employing Quark xPress 4.0 and picture boxes, but that seems like a clunky solution, especially for web publishing.
I am currently in the process of creating a multi page newsletter for a local organization....i have completed page one....what do i do to start page two....three etc...
View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to print multiple images on a single sheet other than those available on the sidebar of the print dialogue box.
I searched: "when you hit the print button-the wizard will come up- there is a "printing preferences" button- when you go there you can set the "pages" per sheet to 16- this will give you 16 copies of the picture on each sheet". The options I have available are 1, 2, 4, 9, 16 but I'd like 6 & 15 or possibley some other configuration. The second suggestion was to paste multiple images onto the page, is there a way to do that so the images line up in a regular grid such as might be done with cells in a word processing program?

I am working with multiple page document in Illustrator CS6. I have saved my document in .pdf. Before I managed to open the whole file, but now it asks me which page I want to open. Can I some way open again the file as a multi page file and work with all the files at the same time?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been working on a PDF project for a few weeks now and it's been working perfectly. However yesterday, I was suddenly unable to open the PDF as a whole and instead, I was prompted to select a specific page to open. The strange thing is that other PDF files that I've been working with will still open with multiple artboards but this file won't.
View 5 Replies View RelatedAnd can it be for more than one photo?
Also is it what the above are meant to be like, obviously the middle one needs tidying up!! but its how they are meant to end up....professionally like the sky sunrise and the magazine one of several actors together...thats what I want to end up achieving, like the mag and the sunrise pic. :-)
Also does it work the same in photoshop....I ask as i have that, but find it incredibly difficult to use..(that said I found the above hard, but seem to have cracked )
I want to plot of .dwg file(with Multiple Layouts) as PDF using interop services, where PDF should contain all the layouts.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI there to all. Still GNU at PS.
I have three jpegs, not necessarily the same size/res. Here are the particlulars:
1) Bush, 600x914 @ 300 dpi,
2) Borat, 1024x799 @ 300 dpi,
3) Moore, 1172x778 @ 150 dpi.
I would like to place these images so that GW is between our pals. All three pics have different backgounds (caps from DVD etc).
So, ideally, I'd like to have all three images on the same (i.e. a new or different background - perhaps CLOUDS). I have a weird sense of humor.
The reason for this is that I am compiling a "Funky" movie with vids from news shows with bush, video caps from Farenheight and Borat. The images are being used as thumbnails for chapters, while the composite will be a splash screen for the begining and background for the main menu. Just something to amuze me..
I realize that there will be some differences once the images are all merged and I am more that willing to play and play and play. Just need somewhere to start.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHow can I print mulitple different .ai files onto one page in Illustrator CS6? I have all of the files organized by Arrange Documents>Tile All in Grid and I would like to print the files in this format so that they can all be seen at once when printed out onto one page.
Some background is that I have 16 different cad drawings that I have converted and edited in illustrator. I'd like to basically make a contact sheet with all 16 drawings so that they can be reviewed on one sheet of paper after printing. But each drawing is in it's own unique file, and I have not figured out how to put them all onto one page for printing.
