Paint.NET :: Blending 2 / Multiple Pictures Together
Dec 9, 2013
And can it be for more than one photo?
Also is it what the above are meant to be like, obviously the middle one needs tidying up!! but its how they are meant to end up....professionally like the sky sunrise and the magazine one of several actors together...thats what I want to end up achieving, like the mag and the sunrise pic. :-)
Also does it work the same in photoshop....I ask as i have that, but find it incredibly difficult to use..(that said I found the above hard, but seem to have cracked )

I have 5 images [in PSCS2] I want to subtly blend. I dont have the skills [yet] to get it right. I know how to make a layer mask, the eraser, how to use the lasso with feathering etc but I just cant get it right. What i want is to have one image dissolve [progressive transparency] into the next, not just a bland erasing of the sections, which is all i seem to be able to do.
I've attached 2 frames - one with the original images unprocessed and my attempt at merging in frame 2. I'm nothappy with it. I want some of the images to be moved closer together and have much more partial transparency smoothly merging these images....

In CSS 3, I'm accustomed to being able to set multiple inset box-shadow values so that I can set four (or even more) inner shadows to a rectangular shape. In Photoshop, I can only set one inner shadow. I'm already using stroke for the border, and inner glow doesn't provide me the granular control I want for setting a different inner shadow color on each of the four sides of a rectangle.
In other words, imagine a rectanglular shape with a 1px border and four 1px inner borders, each of different colors.

I would like to know, whether is it possible to make soft blends between all objects of the person in the art I am creating. The problem is, that I want to make very smooth transition between all paths(brush strokes) in the file. I tried the blend tool, but it didn´t work good for this purose. Then I tried to blur or feather all objects, but the result wasn´t good as well. Opacity masks would be too complicated for all those strokes. Is it possible to make this work for all brush paths in the file?

The official documentation on this mode is frustratingly vague: "This is short for "exclusive OR", which is an advanced blending mode that is primarily used for image analysis and not for drawing or image composition." Thing is, I do personally use it to make art. I think if I knew what exactly it did, I could more easily create images that have eye-pleasing results when blended together using xor.

The only way I have found to remove lines in a fade was to paint over it. In the image, I find some of the colors don't change when trying to blend resulting in even more evident fades. I'm corel photopaint x6, how can I make this background smooth and without the lines?

How to use blending modes. The immediate question is using an overlay layer for dodging and burning. Photoshop has the capability to add a new overlay layer then fill it with neutral light then do the dodging and burning on that layer rather than on a copy of the foundation layer. Does PS Pro have a similar capability?

I searched on [URL]... for "dodge burn", and the first two links that came up pointed me to a post entitled "Faking Soft Brushes and the Blur/Dodge/Burn Tool." Maybe I'm not reading it correctly, but it seems that to use that technique you need to use three layers and the Clone Stamp tool. But why not just use the technique described here
[URL]....
where you create a 50% gray (hex 808080) layer, change the Blending mode to Overlay, lower the Transparency-Alpha of the Primary or Secondary color way down (depending on whether you are burning or dodging), and paint on the new layer? Is the other technique better?

I am having a tough time blending seams on 3d objects in CS4. I create textures for 3d figures used in Poser, and Photoshop is my preferred 2d painting tool. Sometime ago, I bought CS4 pro thinking that the 3d paint feature would enhance my workflow when developing textures.
Unfortunately, I find the capabilities of CS4 to be somewhat rudimentary at best, so I am stuck using Deep Paint 3 to do blending. For example, when I try to paint over a UV seam with 3d paint on a wavefront .obj model the seam will not take paint. When I paint over the seam, a stripe is left several pixels wide - whats up with this? Do I really need to go back to the2d texture map to blend my seams/edges? This seems somewhat useless as I originally bought CS4 to improve my workflow for blending edges and maps together. Is there a workaround that will allow the paint to actually be applied to cover the edges / seams, and preferably a number of pixels beyond?
Another thing I noticed is that the blur/sharpen/smudge brushes do not work to blend edges either, in fact, when I try to smudge across an edge, I just contaminate image with stuff beyond the edge from the texture map. - if the pixel just beyond the edge is black, smudging just drags some black into my image. Is this really how this is supposed to work? Even using a normal brush seems to cause contamination too.
below is a simple example of the painting problem on a simple cylinder I loaded. The original texture map I was painting on was gray.. to demo the problem, I flooded with red, which left a gray line at the seam. then went to a green paint and and did a couple of strokes with a brush. You can see that even simple brush strokes dragged some gray into my image.

You have an image of a wooden table, but would like the table to be a bit redder. So you would select the table and use a "blend with color" tool that would work like a bucket, but instead mix the default color of the table(or the selection) with the color you pick.So you pick red and... You got yourself the same table only instead of it being wood-brown, its reddish wood-brown.

How to Apply adjustment layers to multiple layers that have different blending modes and keep the colors the same as the adjustment done?
I work in Animation painting Backgrounds. My files are sometimes upwards to 200+ layers.I will use adjustment layers to quickly balance colours and constrast on top of those many many layers.
The only way that I know of how to apply adjustment layers it to every single layer ( by applying I mean I need to get rid of the adjustment layers because we cant use them in production but i need the new colours be applied to all layers underneath ) in a psd is to manually do it By duplicating the adjusment layer 200+ times and then merging each layer to one of those adjustment layers so that that layer can take the adjustment layers effect permanently.
The issue is that Within Those 200 layers I have some layers set to Multiply or OVERLAY. IT obviously wont apply the adjustment layer properly to those layers because those layer blend mode affect the layers under them. The colour wont be the same anymore in the spots that had the multiply blended mode.
[URL]
I have 2 adjustment layers up top. I need to get rid of them by applying them to each layer! I cannot merge any of the layers. We need all those layers for production.I can apply the adjustment layers manually and this works GREAT for all Layers set to normal. THey take on the colour change just FINE.
However, The issue is that layer 6 and layer 4 are both set to mutiply and this screws up the colour once i apply the adjustment layers to each layer manually...
How can i apply my adjustment layers to a file like this with some layers being set to multiply while keeping the layers exactly the same configuration and The new colour taking effect exactly how i looks before i apply the adjustment layers? Now the simple solution is to merge the multiply layers to the layer that it affects HOWEVER I NEED those multiply layers to be separate!

I would like to work with layers to create a new photo. I can open multiple photos, but I cannot seem to get multiple photos together in the palette. I just end up with a separate palette for each photo. With each indiv. photo I can make a layer, but I can't drag another photo into the palette, I can't cut and paste, etc.
I have viewed on-line tutorials, read two separate books and on-line help and they all seem to indicate I can just open multiple photos, unlock, layer, make alterations, then merge together. I can't figure out if I'm just missing a very important step or if I am having software issues.

This is probaly a basic question for the photoshop CS4. I have CS4 on my computer. I am trying hard to incorporte more than one picture into differnet layers so I can merge the pictures together as one. I have a book on Photoshop CS4 which shows what I want to do however I still cannot seem to do it. I open about 3 pictures I have saved in a file. I have them in the document of my photoshop page. I create new layers and I get stuck.
I tried copy and paste and I can't seem to get one picture in the right place on the document. I tried the drag and click and it will end up on a place in the background I don't want. The book I have does not seem to go throught all the steps clearly. I was wondering if anyone else has done this in CS4 and how it turned out. I need basic steps. It's been days trying this and I get more confused.
