GIMP :: Setting Default Font And Size At Start Up?
Jan 21, 2014Is there a way I can set this with a switch appended to the "...gimp.exe" shortcut? Or any way that I can set it at all?

View 2 RepliesCurrently I import raw images to my desktop, view in Bridge, make adjustments in Raw then batch process within photoshop, into JPG's.
The jpg resolution is always 240 pixels/inch How can I manually change the default image size??
Where in my work flow should this be set? In Photoshop, Raw image converter or bridge? I am using CS 4.
I am using Gimp version 2.6..At the start-up it has the "Paintbrush Tool." I want it to have the "Move Tool" immediately after or when the program starts.
Having the Paintbrush Tool at start-up is inconvenient because if I click on the image it paints where I click. Then I have then got to undo the paint. How can I set GIMP so that the Move Tool is the default mode when it starts?
Any way to set the character leading setting so that it auto-adjusts when you adjust font size? I think my Ps used to do that. Now, whenever I change font size, I have to adjust the leading, too.
View 5 Replies View Relatedis there a way to set the default save location in gimp, when i create a new image and save it always starts in ~/Documents directory on the save dialog.
i tried to see if there was a setting i could override in gimprc but i was unable to find this, maybe i am looking in the wrong place.
Each time I open a new image in ACR and then open image the editing screen reverts to QUICK mode and a smaller screen size. I then have to click to change it to EXPERT mode and then click to make it full screen. I never had this problem with PSE 10.
(I am bringing RAW images in from outside and not via Organiser.)
Is there a way to set these defaults?
I would like to know the default font height setting in coreldraw 12. I want font size in millimeter rather than pt.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to set my default font size, Helvetica (Type 1) to 12 point. It keeps reverting back to 24 point.
I have to use Type 1 Helvetica and not that new "Helvetica Neuel T 55 Roman" because of standards for a magazine I work on. I though Open Type Helvetica (the real Helvetica) was included with CorelDRAW X6.
The default-font in v. 2.6.8 is "Sans". I do not see anything in 'Preferences' that allows for changing the default to another font.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSurprised I could not turn this up in the Search. Whenever I open a new image to resize it, it does not change size, but sometimes I have seen it larger than this standard size. I need more space for my work, I dont like working with Zoom, or small print. How can I fix setting new image size so the entire background will increase?
View 10 Replies View RelatedI mainly use GIMP to create or alter memes for Facebook. The default fontfor text in 2.8 is Sans, just as in previous versions. However the type isnot Sans, but something similar to Courier (old typewriter type). Is theresome way to correct this fault and restore Sans as the actual font?

View 2 Replies View RelatedIn GIMP 2.8, I'm having an issue with font settings not sticking with copied layers.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Click the text tool, then click the canvas.
2. Type the word "Cow".
3. Double Click the word "Cow" and set it to a fancy font, pink, and 24pt.
4. Select the "Cow" text layer and duplicate it.
5. Move the duplicated layer down. You now have two "Cow" layers in a pink, fancy, 24pt font.
6. Double click the word "cow" in the copied layer to highlight the word "Cow".
7. Type "Chicken" over the word "Cow"
Expected result:
The text is now "Chicken" in a fancy, pink, 24pt font.
Actual result:
The text is now "Chicken" in the default font.
In order to keep the font you want, you have to insert the new text after the first letter of the existing word. ie: "CChickenow", then remove the extra "ow" from the end, then remove the "C" from the beginning. This is very tedious and frustrating.
I am aware that you can set a default font to whatever you want (except making it bold by default?). But, if I copy a layer and type over it, it's because I wanted to copy the appearance of the layer, not start over with a new one. Is there a setting I can change? Or is this a known issue with text editing in 2.8?
Am making a brochure, use the pre-set A5 print size. All great, but when converting the XCF file to PDF the fonts are not represented correct and are drastically reduced in size.
I tried the flattening option, but that takes a lot of resolution/sharpness out of the file and makes it less fit for printing.
I do love GIMP but having a serious problem. When I go to use text, I simply can't get the font size to show up so I can adjust it.
PS using 2.6, this laptop can't do 2.8.
Wow, I am trying to ask about the lack of fonts in Gimp 2.8.4, when I cannot find a font list or size list here on this document!
Edit/ Preferences states that the fonts are to be found in the following directories:
C:UsersHubert.gimp-2.8fonts
C:Program FilesGIMP 2sharegimp2.0fonts (note the '2.0')
The first one is empty, and the second one does not exist.
This problem has been mentioned on the internet, but no answer has yet been stated.
I don't know how to populate those spaces with fonts that can be used by Gimp.
DO YOU?
Best practices for setting up systems in a lab environment. We have a lab enviroment of about 200 systems that access AutoCad, Inventor, Mechanical and others.
We need to have a customized interface come up when Autocad is opened by students.I have read that you can do this with profiles and workspaces and also with loading a acad.lsp file.
In the past we have just copied the Windows admin profile used to customize AutoCad to the default profile. In AutoCad 2013 that does not seem to grab everything. It doesn't seem to be the best way to do what we need.
We will also be moving to Windows 7 soon which will also cause an issue.I want to find the best way to do this with out having to deal with the Windows profile.
How can you do this? I generally create images of a different size than that so it would be really useful to be able to change it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have recently upgraded to Gimp 2.8.3 on my Mac OS Snow Leopard, primarily for the new "export to PDF" feature that would keep text searchable within PDF.
The results are very odd... The text in the exported PDF is, indeed, searchable and copyable, but the font size shrinks drastically (see attached screenshot).
I just upgraded to GIMP 2.8.4 for Mac after spending months using an older version. At the bottom of the image window are tips for using whatever tool one is currently using. Unfortunately, these tips are TINY! I can barely see them! Is there any way to increase their size via GIMP preferences?
Note that I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to editing program code so if this is required I will need specific step by step instructions.
EDIT: Additionally, I've noticed that image windows always stay behind the toolbox and layer windows. Is there any way to reverse the ordering? (So that image windows can move in front of the toolbox/layer window?) With multiple image windows open on a small screen I need all the space I can get.
my font is so small and its font size is at 72pt how can i make it big again

View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently had to reinstall Corel VideoStudio Pro X3 because of some missing/damaged files (long story). Anyway, I downloaded Title Pack 6 so I had some more, well, titles. Afterwards, when I tried to use the new titles, after moving them to the timeline and double clicking to edit the text the problem starts...
1) There is no text box to edit text or the text box is REALLY tiny (so tiny I cant resize it) and tucked away in the top-left corner of the preview box.
2) The font defaults to a ridiculously high setting (~150-200).
3) When I try to type something in, nothing happens.
4) When I click off the text box I get an error message saying "Font Apply Error!".
