GIMP :: Rotating Selected Part Of Layer?
Jan 26, 2012I pasting in a image its pixel art so on the small side and when i rotate 90 degrees the image shrinks 1 pixel on top and left side.

View 1 RepliesI have a GIF image that I need to add something to, but I don't want to add it to every single individual layer. Is there a way to add it over or behind the entire GIF so that it remains static while the GIF's frames cycle - like a watermark or something?
Or if not, is there maybe a script-fu that copies and merges a selected layer over every other individual layer automatically, without messing them up?
I know I'll probably have to just end up manually adding it to each layer, (so many layers...).
I have a blue line in gimp I've been trying to get rid of. It's not part of any layer so I can't erase it, its thickness scales with zoom; and it also doesn't render in the final product, but it's irritating to look at.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to select a part of an Image on the background layer. And when you delete it, its removed from the rest of the layers as well.
Because I'm working with a DDS image and it has mipmaps (smaller and smaller copies of the background made as seperate layers.)
I have an assebly where i have imported parts and other assemblies. Unfortunatly during process of assigning them together they have rotated by various angles.Is it possible to somehow "reset" the rotation of part according to global xyz?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using 2010 and maybe this has been addressed in subsequent versions, i don't know.i've designed parametic platform that I would like to insert into an assembly and have it prompt me for elevation and orientation. Short of VBA code, i'm not sure I can do this. I AM trying to make the process as simple as possible for use by people who will not be overly familiar with Inventor. The easier it can be done, the sooner it can be adopted and more people taught how to actually use it.
I know I can bring it in and constrain it different axes and planes.
I also know that I can insert a piece into an assembly and ground it at 0,0,0. Using that I can ground it at 80 feet in the air or whatever elevation I choose using the occurrence tab of iproperties for the part/assembly. That in and of itself goes a long way toward what i'm trying to do. There's also a rotational setting there that would work for setting an orientation, but it's greyed out. In fact, in any example I try and make, it's always greyed out.
I've tried doing it as an iassembly as well, but there doesn't seem to be any provision in iassemblies for making custom values like there is in an ipart.
Either a dialog to prompt for the info or via something like the occurrence tab is fine.each identical assembly/part has to be individually constrained to get the correct orientation?
I have created a dynamic block with a rotation parameter&action on an object in the block. My problem is that when I pick the grip to rotate the object it only allows me to rotate it to where my cursor is pointing, if I enter an angle when prompted "Specify rotation angle or [Base point/Undo/eXit]:" say 45degrees the object does not rotate 45 degrees it just rotates to wherever my cursor is pointing

Is there a system variable to ajust to see my layers inside the Layer tool bar?
I'm having issues with Civ3d 2013. I pushed off upgrading from 2012 because of the format change and the service pack release. I was hoping little glitches would be fixed.
Here are the a couple of glitches to date that I have seen no resolution to in the long list of threads.
1. Layer filters do not filter, unless I have checked "Apply filter to toolbar". The problem is, I dont want to apply them to the toolbar.
2. Publishing to PDF - when set to lines merge (set in the page layout and the publish setting), the wipeouts dont work, and the background masks on leaders makes a faint border around the text in the PDF. When set to overwrite, to get the wipeouts to not print to the PDF as a big black blob, they have to be on a layer set to color 255. I can work around most of the wipeouts, except for dimensions because the background mask doesn't seem to take.
when I selected a layer in the layers window it's gray instead of blue, and if I try to move around the content of the layer I get that message : « Could not use the move tool because the target channel is hidden »
View 4 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to change the functionality of the layers so that when a new layer is created or a layer is duplicated that it automatically is created below the selected layer? I always organize my files with elements at the top of the document at the top of the layers panel and have them in decending order (unless there is a reason for an object to be above another) so that it is easier to navigate the page. Right now this means I spend a lot of time moving layers up and down which gets rather annoying. I believe I saw at one point that there is a key command for duplicating a layer below the existing one, but I can't remember how anymore. ability to make a blanket change in preferences.
View 3 Replies View RelatedJust upgraded from CS5 to CC and I find some thing very very very annoying. Any transform operation on a layer group seems to be applied on the individual layers instead of the group as a whole. How can I turn this extremely useless behavior off?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've tried to create a rotating Planet for my program ( the rotation itself is fine... but it feels like the image is moving left inside a circle frame ) . I was told I need to add depth, bump so to say. I've tried to add a bit of bumpmap with gimp
Filter-> Map -> Bumpmap . Azimuth = 134, Elevation = 46, Depth = 15, Waterlevel = 87, Ambient = 57 .
But it does not feel round... I'm obviously no expert at Gimp. What should I do with the following image to make it feel more round, the center should feel like it's higher...and the corners should feel like they are going around to the back.
When I rotate a landscape image 90 degrees to portrait format the top and bottom of the image gets cut off. How do I prevent that and be able to view the whole image?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhile Gimp is great, one of its biggest downfalls is the way in which it handles resizing and rotating images.
- Open a new image.
- Draw / manipulate / play with your image.
- Add layers, colors and images included.
Now, let's say you want to trace an image that's at the bottom of your layer stack. But that image is the wrong size, so you select the area you want to trace, drop its transparency down to 10%, and attempt to scale it to the size you've been sketching on the layer above it. The moment you attempt to scale / rotate it, it shoots back to 100% transparency, which is unintuitive because you can no longer see what's beneath the layer. In Photoshop, an area that is being scaled / rotated stays at the transparency you gave it.
Is there a way to make this NOT happen?
is it possible to rotate a layer in gimp with the opacity turned on?
everytime i rotate something the object becomes a full solid even though i had set it with an opacity.
I have a star image that I would like to put on the ends of my banner for my blog. I would like the image to be a "spinning" or rotating gif.

When I select Brush, changing the exposure supposed to change only the selected part exposure. In my LR-5 it changes the whole image exposure. What am I doing wrong?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI followed the tutorial linked below to successfully create cartoon text.
My Macbook was then updated to Lion and I checked I had the latest version of GIMP and have been trying all morning to create some more text in the same manner.
However no matter what I do when I select the layer that contains the single letter and I try to rotate it nothing happens?
If I do Alpha to Selection the selection rotates but then I cant do anything with it, stoke fill etc?
To clarify this is what I do:
Create a word
select a letter in the word
ctrl-x
ctrl-v
select new layer
name the new layer to match the letter just cut and pasted
ensure that layer is selected
choose rotate tool
....no rotation takes place?

why I can't stroke a selection after rotating it? The steps to reproduce this problem are simple:
1. Make any selection (e.g. a rectangle)
2. Click "Edit", and note that "Stroke selection" is not greyed out
3. Use the "rotate" tool on the selection. Click the selection, and specify any angle.
4. After the selection has been rotated, click "Edit" again, and note that "Stroke selection" is greyed out and unusable.
I'm using Gimp 2.8.4.

I am looking for a way to make front view of a tire look like it's rotating ... i.e. the tread is moving. I have tried moving the tread, but that didn't look right.
I have seen it done but can't recreate it. I have attached an example .
this code works for parts. But how to change it that it works for assembly? I would like to select a part and than change the value.
m_invApp = GetObject(, "Inventor.Application")
' Get the Parameters object. Assumes a part or assembly document is active.
Dim oParameters As Parameters
oParameters = m_invApp.ActiveDocument.ComponentDefinition.Parameters

I'm using Visual Basic 2010 Express and Inventor 2013. I can get the properties such as PartName, Description information of the all sub parts using below
Dim invDocs As Documents
invDocs = inv_App.Documents
Dim i As Integer
Dim invDocument As Document
For i = 1 To invDocs.Count
[code].........
Above code works perfect. But I want to get or change i property values of the selected part or assembly in the biggest assembly. I got below information:
Dim selSet As SelectSet
selSet = asmDoc.SelectSet
Dim compOcc As ComponentOccurrence
Dim obj As Object
For Each obj In selSet
compOcc = obj
'Debug.Print(compOcc.Name)
compOcc.Visible = False
Next
But I do not know how can I get the properties of the selected part or sub-asm . How can I walk from "compOcc" to "invDocument.PropertySets.Item("Design Tracking Properties").Item("Description") "
P.S. I will check the selected part quantity. It must be only ONE! Control Code below:
Dim asmDoc As AssemblyDocument
asmDoc = inv_App.ActiveDocument
If asmDoc.SelectSet.Count <> 1 Then
MsgBox("You need to select only one part or sub-asm to change properties...!")
Return
End If
But I only have (can only afford) the Photo Net free Version 3.3x, 3.5.I have a photo, say 2000 x 1500 px. But it is distorted. It looks like the two people in it have 25-inch legs. So I need to select the bottom half (rectangle select)
- and "stretch" that selection (not the whole image) from 1000 x 1500 px to 1250 x 1500 px!
The revised image with therefore be 2250 x 1500 px.
- but it will no longer be distorted
- and will include all the data in the opriginal photo.
All Serif PhotoPlus does is:-
- stretches the selected rectangle
- but keeps the same 2000 x 1500 dimensions
- simply by cropping off the bottom 200 or so pixels. This is not what I want. instead, whether or not Photo Net Version 3.3x, 3.5 is capable of resizing / changing the dimensions of a selected part of an image, i.e. stretching it along one axis?
It will really get me out of a hole that could never have been envisaged for such a simple, routine photographic requirement.
In PS i can Magic wand selection shape from one layer, drop to sub layer and copy that selected shape from that sub layer. How do I do this in illistrator, and moreover, from multiple layer at the same time.
For instance, in PS = Import an image of gold - select a text phrse with wand - drop to gold - copy paste = gold text.
this is my problem:
Pic 1. I have an image I want to use as a background, however the image is not complete. I need a part of pic 2 to fullfill it.
Pic 2. The colors around the object doesn't match the colors of Pic 1.
Normally it would be best to cut the object out. However in this case it wouldn't look nice (the object is mixed out (in color) with the rest of the image). If I cut out something the object won't look "proper".
My question:
How can I blend pic 2 on pic 1, using the original object from pic 2 (as it is), and at the same time blend the colors around it, so that it matches that of pic 1 / or simply remove it somehow?
Is there a way to take an image, and make an animation of it rotating 360 degrees?
I've never looked into batch processing with GIMP, but I would be willing to. This is for a video game sprite.
I've noticed that in Paint Tool SAI (which I really wish I could buy but I have no money) has two things I wish GIMP could do.
1: SAI has an ability to rotate the view without rotating the image itself.(rotating a graphics tablet to comfortably get the pen stroke right.) Is there any way this could be implemented into a new update of GIMP?
2: SAI has really good pressure sensitivity and natural *smooth* pressure strokes. I've kinda noticed GIMP is geared more towards Mouse/Touch pad art creation; is there any way to get pressure sensitivity into the program?
I'm afraid to use GIMP anymore because the whole program takes about 20 minutes to load, from clicking the application icon on my desktop. Once it's up though, it functions well. Even after I close it out, and end up clicking the application icon again, it takes another 20 minutes to load up.
