GIMP :: Move Image To Specific X / Y Position
Dec 13, 2013
I'm creating a sprite sheet and I need to move my sprites to a specific location.
For example my sprite is 120x120, so I need to place the 5th animated frame at EXACTLY 120x5=600 pixels from zero or at 600, 0. I can't seem to find a way of doing this in GIMP, it shows me a mouse delta position from where I first clicked?

I have a question with batch crop. I have about 300 images of same dimension and would like crop to specific position in all of them. In photoshop, I would import all the images as a layer and crop a layer, then export the layer as an individual file.

I want to cut the right half of one image and paste it in exactly the same position on a second image.
I've found that by cropping I can get a very precise cut but I want to know if there is a way to paste it or move it once pasted to exactly the right half of the image I am pasting it into.

Situation Basically I have a series of 8-bit bitmap images which all use different palettes but have around 64 colors in common.
This will allow them to be combined with another graphic which uses only those 64 colors in a 3D engine, thereby allowing that graphic to be used with the images with no color misassignments.
I need to be able to set those 64 colors to the same position in the colormap for each image. I could just limit the images to 192 colors, but the loss of information is unacceptable to me.
The task I'd like to manually drag those specific colors to the bottom of the colormap in a set order, but the "Rearrange Colormap" dialogue does not show me what their RGB values are, so there is too much room for error. (Tried in Gimp-2.6 and 2.8)

I created a jigsaw puzzle from an image. All the pieces exist in different layer.
Is there a way to get the position of the pieces (a script or a menu command)? I realize I could use the ruler, however, I would like something that would be more exact and less tedious.

How to change the shape of an image to fit a specific shape.
What I'm trying to do is reshape a geometrically patterned rectangular image so that the printed image fits around a truncated cone. I'm trying to use the image to create a stencil for glazing a straight sided pottery cup. I know the circumference of the rim and the circumference of the base of the truncated cone so I need to wind up with the borders of the image having a convex curve at the top with the arc length equal to the rim's circumference, a concave curve at the bottom with the arc length equal to the circumference of the base, and with the end points of both arcs connected with diagonal lines equal to the length of the sides of the cup. In addition, I'd like to preserve the image in it's entirety, but distort it as necessary to fit the borders without cutting any of it out. (I attached a sketch in case my pattern shape description was confusing).

I have a jpeg image of a motorcycle on a pure yellow background. I want to make the yellow transparent. Naturally there are a lot of spaces within the motorcycle image that contain yellow.
I followed instructions I found...
Removing the background of an image
1) add an alpha channel to your layer
2) use colors/color to alpha and use the background color
This results in the checkerboard being applied to the motorcycle, not the yellow background. I assume that's okay.
This makes all the pixels with the background color transparent, and those with a close color partially transparent.
Then:
- select the background with the magic wand,
- grow the selection by a couple of pixels to ensure that the border of the sprite is in the selection (the most important work of color-to-alpha is on the border pixels, so they shouldn't be protected)
This selects only the area outside the bicycle, but I don't mind reselecting smaller areas, if I can.
- grow the selection by a couple of pixels to ensure that the border is in the selection (the most important work of color-to-alpha is on the border pixels, so they shouldn't be protected)

How can I find all pixels in an image with an exact, specific color? So far, I've only managed to find the pixels matching a pixel I click on; but I wish to find pixels matching a specific color value!

I've got a series of meteorological satellite pictures (updated every 15 minutes), which indicate rainfall by means of a color code (blue means weak rain, red is heavy rain; the scale also includes green and yellow in-between). I wish to know the average daily rainfall on a specific spot in the map, which corresponds roughly to a single pixel in the picture, whose X,Y coordinates I've already determined.
Now, I could manually select this pixel in each of the pictures and see which color it was in that specific moment of the day; however, there are too many pictures (96 every day, to be precise), and I began wondering if there's any way to automate this process - that is, I would need Photoshop to select this specific pixel in each image, and determine which color it is.

I'm batching my signature onto a bunch of photos at the bottom righthand corner. I put my preferences to percentage rather than pixels so I could try things for most sized-photos. My dilemma now goes like this:
I record, open my signature, copy & paste to the other image (works fine). The signature shows up in the middle of the other image and rather than moving it manually where it'll be different for vertical and horizontal photos, is it possible to align right and bottom or get specific with entering numbers such as 90% horizontal and 90% vertical placement?
Basically, when you copy & paste to a different open file, is there a way to specify exactly where it should go when you paste it, or do you have to manually move it?

In sub object mode, I have some vertex selected, I would like to set this vertex to a specific position in space.
For exemple, In the picture attached, I want that each 4 vertex set to 0 in x position in one command (I don't want set to 0 individually each vertex).

I want to select a specific color from within the image, and change all similar colors within that image to a different color. In other words, after using the Color Picker Tool to select a color from the image, I want to take the selected color (and everything in the image that is equal to or similar in color), and change them all to a different color.
I tried using the Path's Tool to create an outline in the image, and changing colors that way, but it changes all the other colors in the selection I don't want to change. I just want to change all colors in the image/selection that are equal to or similar to the selected color. How do I do this?

What I want to know is if there is a way to make a hotkey or at all save specific options for specific tools. Let's say I'm using the 'Paintbrush, Opacity 70%, Hardness 075, Size 4.00' as my "standard outline tool". Can I some how save that preference (and any other tool such as "Specific Eraser Op. 100%, Hard. 100, Size 10.00) so that I can easily switch between "Ouline Brush" and "Specific Eraser" . Maybe to the 'f-buttons'
I'd like to be able to make maybe 5 specific tools:-Outline Brush
-Small Eraser
-Big Eraser
-Detailed Color brush
-Big Color Brush.

I finally closed everything and started over. Same results.
Now what?

I make a text logo from a gimp theme, but cannot move it to another seperate gimp file/ image that is open. For example, I have a webdesign template in progress in gimp, but then open a new gimp window/file, get a logo, put the text in. Then, I cant get this image out of the gimp, even if I want to put it in the other window onto the template. Also, I cant get the image out of gimp program, and onto the desktop.

When I move my mouse over my image the brush cursor is not moving and it will not let me click on my image (with the mouse) the crosshair/cursor will follow it, however the brush will not, nor will any other tools, my wacom tablet however works fine.
I thought it must be something to do with GIMP accepting input but its not going as of yet.

I'm in Photoshop CC 3D, and I have a simple scene with one complex object. I can't find any way to move the position of the camera beyond the default positions, like top, front, back. I can do it CS6, but I can't do it in CC. I can rotate the object, but I want to keep the object where it is. I want to move the camera.

So I have a lot of 2D drawings (a couple thousand roughly) that I need to go through and shift the objects within to the absolute 0,0 position. That way, when we insert them into a new drawing, everything is centered appropriately and not way off the screen.
Instead of:
Open File > Select Objects > "MOVE" > Specify Basepoint > " * 0 , 0 " > Center View on Newly position Objects > Save File > Close File
... Repeat ...
By way of a LISP routine, or a script that could automatically do the above steps on it's own. Even something that doesn't require me to hit *, then tab, then 0, then tab, then 0 again.

Is there a way to change the selection position and size by entering the numbers exactly? I find it difficult to make pixel perfect movements and it is tiresome to use the keyboard arrows to do this.
When something is selected, the position and size appear in the bottom left corner. Perhaps clicking on this could bring up a window that would let the user enter exact values.

I'm using the trial version of Elements 11 to see if I should downgrade from an old version of Photoshop. I'm running into two problems:
1) when I re-size an image, it doesn't show pixels in the drop-down box under Document Size, and
2) if I manually re-size an image, I can't get the move tool to nudge it into position.

With an object selected and the Selection tool active, I press Return to get the Move dialog box.
For some reason, there seem to be random values entered in the Horizontal and Vertical fields. Instead, I just want the boxes to always start at 0 so that I can decide where it moves, instead of having to clear these fields manually.
how to get this box to behave as I want it to?
