View 2 RepliesWhenever I have a selection in an image, I can move it around all I want and wherever I want until I anchor it, but when I open that same image again after saving it and then select a part of the image, I can't get my selection to move. Rather the entire image moves and leaves transparent pixels. How do I move selections and not whole images without leaving transparent pixels?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have successfully assembled three images into a workable form. Now I want to add a text line to the image. GIMP's text system seems to be very cryptic, what with pathing and other terms that don't seem to have a definition as far as I have found. All I want is a single line of common text characters. Nothing fancy, no text jumping out of a cornucopia or being carried by a dirigible, no clowns or frogs. Just plain text.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a question for tools in GIMP. Now I see that the tool moves in a certain grid. Now, I want the other tools to move like that too. What I'm saying is that the pencil tool moves by pixels in my document. Since I like to do pixel art, it'd be nice if the other tools also moved like that, by pixel not free form. I'm working on a 32x32 grid and it's good that the pencil moves like that. I just want other tools to move like the pencil, pixel by pixel, now it might be different pixel movement for me since I have my grid set up at 4x4 spacing, I'm a newbie at GIMP and would like if you can answer this question.
How do I make other tools move like the tool. My grid's set up at 4x4 and the pencil moves pixel by pixel. I like that how can I get other tools to move like that?? I just noticed grid doesn't matter, but I want to make other tools move like the tool.
So, I'm trying to make moods for forums like this: and I don't know how to make my text move vertically or horizontally. The person who made this uses Gimp as well, so I know there is a way.

View 3 Replies View RelatedCurrently working on a PowerPoint styled animation.I've parented the source text of 5 text layers to 1 text layer so I can easily alter the text. It is essential that I have 5 identically texted layers.
My requirement isn't much: To assign colors to individual words without having to separate those words into different layers.
I opened an image, scaled it, changed the canvas size and pasted another image into it. When I move new image below the original image (where the gray checker board is located) the new image disappears.
I finally closed everything and started over. Same results.
Now what?
I've created a New image and selected Open Layer to bring another image in, however the 'other' Open layer image' appears in the center of the newly opened image space. How can I move the Open layered image around?

For example my sprite is 120x120, so I need to place the 5th animated frame at EXACTLY 120x5=600 pixels from zero or at 600, 0. I can't seem to find a way of doing this in GIMP, it shows me a mouse delta position from where I first clicked?

Then, I cant get this image out of the gimp, even if I want to put it in the other window onto the template. Also, I cant get the image out of gimp program, and onto the desktop.

I thought it must be something to do with GIMP accepting input but its not going as of yet.
I used some white rectangles to change the shape of black letters on a white background. Now I want this combination of letters & rectangles to be just letters when I select them etc. (make the white rectangles blend with the background and still have the shape they left on the letters) How can I do that?
View 29 Replies View RelatedJust wants to get some simple "animated words" traced with a white background (instead of the background being "dimmed" looseleaf paper)
To explain, here's a comparison example of what I'm trying to achieve:
Imagine the phrase:
EGG-CELERATING THE PACE OF FERTILITY
Where the letter E is:
The vertical part of the E is a stalk of Celery
The horizontals of the E are cartons of Eggs.
Where the "P" of Pace looks like a basic line drawing of a "pacing shoe"
...with perhaps "anxious" looking eyes drawn inside the shoe
...yet still look like a P
...and the remainder is [roughly] like my attached letters on Dim looseleaf background. (see attached)
How would you achieve the EGG-CELERATING phrase? I bet an expert could achieve this within 1/2 hour or less, can't they? So I'm trying to achieve the same as the above:
...albeit it's a different phrase, and different BASIC pics.
...in other words, it's mostly outlined-alphabet, but including 4 basic pictorial-letters, and some more letters containing "eyes"
P.S. Regarding the attachment, note that I placed that in a Layer which I called Layer1
Then tried selecting it & changing background to White But was unsucessful.
there's nothing in that dropdown menu for you to select your source image/layer in the Move Path plugin.I am using an XCF (Gimp) file, with many layers. I selected a particular layer, then I opened the Move Path plugin.

How can I make 1 image out of 2 images?
I have made- 1 image with a black line on white background saved as xcf- 1 image with a black letter "A" on white background saved as xcfBoth images are rectangulars. I scaled the height of both images to the same value.
Output should be 1 image - with white background:
- one rectangular consisting of the old 2 rectangulars- area is the sum of the area of the 2 old rectangulars- on left side the "line" image
- on right side the "A" image
- new image can be saved as xcf
Looking for answer in simply consecutive row of commands like:
GIMP > file > open file: image with line > right click on image > image > scale image > ...GIMP > file > open file: image with letter > ...
I have two maps of same area (different years) and I want to match them up as one map. I can load them both as layers and make the older map transparent so that I can see through to newer map, but older map is larger than the newer map (in the background). I can move the transparent map but I cannot make just the transparent map smaller to fit over the other map. I will also need to rotate the map slightly. When I try to resize it changes both maps. I have tried the transform and the move tool. So how can I make one layer smaller and rotate it it leaving the other layer intact?
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn gimp I have imported an image. I then duplicate the image four times (I am trying to make four different crops of the same image). But every time I crop one corner of the image, it automatically crops ALL OF THE OTHER DUPLICATES TOO!!!! I have tried just importing the same image four times as individual layers, but that doesn't work either! Why does one layer affect all of them?!

Right before putting the image in a normal cloud picture, what's the easiest way to select the part of the image I want in the cloud and have it fade out all around the image like it does in this example? Is there a much better way than the Fuzzy Select Tool option?
make a new image with the same scale "dimension" of the copied object "images".
