Is there a way to preserve layer info,and pass that info back and forth between graphicEditors?
Gimp does 'select by color' best. But other Editors do something else best.
So I would like to pass the layers around between Editors.
The new cage tool is fantastic to solve the following problem.
I take a photo with the smartphone of a book page. I need two hands for this. The page does not lies flat (see [URL].... because no more hands available to keep the page flat (and no glass sheet at hand...). Using the cage tool with 3 nodes above and 3 below the text produces an acceptable result see [URL]....
Question: Is there any better method? Any GIMP plugin or even Android app to solve this problem?
I can trace the deformed rectangle that enclose the page text, but then I don't know how to pass this info to the cage tool and ask to make it a real rectangle.
Is there a way to invoke the iLogic Rule Editor and pass it an existing rule name or external rule for editing?
View 4 Replies View Relatedthe file is not optimized in any way, I probably made all sorts of bad decisions that have ended up with me having an unwieldy file that is hard to work with, but it's doing the job for me.
However, I have to make the same change to around 30-40 materials that I created which each have their own individual bitmaps assigned to them, as they all have different text on them.
I want to remove the opacity mapping from each one, but opening each one and making the change, then saving it, is ridiculously long winded with the file performing as bad as it is (running on an SSD with an i5 chip and 16gb RAM.....)
So I'd like to know if there is any way to, for instance, open all those materials in a text editor and manually remove the opacity setting. They are all in "scene materials" in my document.
Maybe I could add them to their own library, open a blank document with this library, edit them there, and move them back?
I just had 3ds max hang while I'd updated half the materials
#how can I pass a name to a selection, which has to be converted to a path? Neither plug-in-sel2path nor plug-in-sel2path-advanced give the possibility to pass an own name.
View 3 Replies View RelatedBasically I have an image that I created that has 3 layers. 1 is a bunch of brush strokes that are red, one with strokes that are green, and 1 with strokes that are blue. What I want to do is take the red layer and make all its strokes green, and vice versa, basically just switching the color of everything on the layers. I would think there is some kind of setting I could just change.

View 1 Replies View Relatedn my Image i have several layers, and two adjustment-layers for manipulating hue/saturation of parts of certain layers. Think something like having a picture of a person, and having the adjustment-layers to change the persons pants and shirt independently. So you can easily make color-variations of what the person wears, and save them, e.g. as jpg.
What I want is to add a little textarea which ends up on each jpg (not meta-data, I mean readable in a corner on the actual image), that gives me the color-values from the adjustment layers that were used to create that very image. So at a later time when I have one of my jpgs and it hits me that this exact color-combination is perfekt I can recreate it easily. Of course I could do it by hand, but is there a way to automate it, using text-variables linked to the hue/saturation-layers?
The Photoshop CS6 Info Palette is not showing before and after in Grouped Adjustment Layers. It only shows the after values on both sides of the Palette.

GIMP looks like more than enough to get me started with photo editing... however i've run into a problem -
Originally there were a few box's around the image that I uploaded, and they had tools and thing's in them (not sure what i only got it earlier) however now all i have is the image - and no toolbox / layer displays or anything.
Not sure how i've turned them off?
In some earlier Photoshop version, you could edit the contours (looking like curves) that shaped layer effects like Drop Shadow or Bevels. To do this, you opened the contours drop-down library within a style dialogue like Drop Shadow; then you double-clicked onto a contour icon and you got the "Contour Editor", a dialogue looking like a small Curves dialogue.
But in CS6 i find no way to edit the contours provided. I can create new ones, which doubles the last contour activated, and i can add more contours provided by Adobe. But double-clicking on a contour icon only applies this contour and there is no way, it seems, to get to an "Contour Editor".
I'm on Windows 7/64 bit with ample RAM, with PS CS6 Extended.
Within the layer style window under the >bevel and emboss >Contour the option displaying images or list of contours is only opening to contour editor.
It's not displaying the contours within my collection I must've tripped off setting for displaying them but I can't find where that setting is, or if it's even available anymore? I don't believe I've used it since CS 3 or4. I'm using CS6 now but contours seems to have changed.
I used text-ed for sentence. Made another and played with attributes. Selected other tools. 2nd text block still surrounded by dotted lines.how do I select NO TOOLS?

I am using maya 2012 on a MacBook pro , for instance if I create a cylinder ,when it's created I bring up the Chanel box , I have : pCylinder1 then the boxes for adjusting the xyz axis etc , then shapes / pCylinderShape1 , and that's it ! I have no inputs tab to adjust sub-divisions etc ?? Have I not got something selected

I just started web tech. course at richmond adult community college, and I would like to know if there is any option to import a gimp file, image with any most popular html editor (possibly free one ) as it can be done with dreamweaver a photoshop doc.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a GIF image that I need to add something to, but I don't want to add it to every single individual layer. Is there a way to add it over or behind the entire GIF so that it remains static while the GIF's frames cycle - like a watermark or something?
Or if not, is there maybe a script-fu that copies and merges a selected layer over every other individual layer automatically, without messing them up?
I know I'll probably have to just end up manually adding it to each layer, (so many layers...).
How do I make the edges of the top layer blend in with the bottom layer so you cannot tell that there is a line??? I want to make it look like a heart but I don't know how to smoothen the edges to make it look like it is part of the bottom layer so when I merge the layers there is no goofy lines looking like someone cropped another fire picture out...

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have two similar images where the subject has moved between the images. I have them in the same file as two separate layers and am using the subtract layer mode to identify where they differ, (roughly!).
I want to be able to use the subtract layer as a completely new layer so that I can make edits to it. The only way I have found to do this at the moment is to 'copy visible', but this still brings other elements that I don't want from where the layers overlap.
For the projects I'm working on, I use the same template beneath the different layer groups of each different project. When I move a "color" layer into the group, however, it doesn't show up like it's supposed to. It behaves as if the 'color' layer is a blank layer, and has no effect. Is there any way to get this to work or?...
ALSO: I can't open images by URL.
Why can't I align a single layer that is inside a layer group? The align tool would always select the top most layer group as the 'boundary' for alignment, thus automatically selecting the whole layers inside of it and align them as a group.
Is this a bug or just GIMP's weakness? It definitely reduces the layer group's usefulness.
Long time gimp user, but for basic tasks only. Now I would like to get my hands dirty a little more. I'm trying to setup a workflow that involves CAD, Inkscape and GIMP. Basically I did some architectural drawing in CAD, used Inkscape to clean up and convert DXG into SVG, so that I can use paths into GIMP. I did a script that for every path creates a new transparent layer with a layer mask using the path, so I can add fills and textures quickly. Now to the problem: say I want to add a texture from another image, i paste the image into the appropriate layer, then I want to transform the texture a bit (scale, rotate and perspective). the result is that the layer mask is transformed, too. I tried to disable the mask during transform, but didn't work.
Is there a way to workaround this? maybe some layer mode instead of layer mask?
I just downloaded GIMP 2.8 (on Windows 7) and was using the layer groups to organize a project I'm doing. I noticed that whenever I put the layers into the layer group, nothing I do to them actually affects the image (for example if I change the opacity of the layer, it doesn't actually change). If I drag them out of the layer group they function perfectly; sometimes if I edit them and then drag them into the group they also work fine.
As I was writing this post I tested dragging a layer set to "dodge" into the group and it didn't work. It kept the dodge setting, but it looked as if it was on normal; however, I drug another layer set on dodge into the group and it worked fine.
Is this feature just broken on Windows, or does it not work like I thought (where you can drag them in and edit them individually, or edit them all by editing the layer group itself)?
I have the latest gimp.
