My cursor appears and disappears while in GIMP as I move the cursor over the canvas. I can make the cursor appear but only if there is no movement of the cursor. It makes no difference which tool I select, the size of the canvas, or the level of zoom.
Please note that this only occurs in Gimp, and none of my other applications. It started when I upgraded from openSUSE 12.1 to 12.2. I'm assuming that it has something to do with my input device configuration, but I could be totally wrong.
I have a total of 3 input devices - Core Pointer, Logitech USB-PS/2 Optical Mouse, and Virtual Core XTEST Pointer. Both the Optical Mouse and XTEST Pointer are DISABLED. Core Pointer is the only one enabled. Enabling Optical Mouse and XTEST Pointer give me other problems in Gimp and need to remain disabled.
For the Core Pointer, Mode is set to SCREEN, a message says that 'The axis X has no curve', and the following Axis Settings:
X 1
Y 2
Pressure none
xtilt none
ytilt none
wheel none
In Gimp Preferences->Input Controllers, there are three active controllers - Mouse Buttons, Main Mouse Wheel, and Main Keyboard.
I have just got CS6 and I am having problems with the brushes tool when drawing, moving a cursor values, moving images and so on. Although I am moving the brush, on screen it appears as if it wasn't moving at all, and the circle around the brush appear, as if the brush was stationary, and a line starts to appear around the brush cursor creating a circle, when this circle is complete, it bring the left-click menu (when using brush tool).
It's frustrating, becase a 5 min job ends up taking 20mins instead. I'm having to do really exaggerated cursor movements for the circle to not appear around the cursor and actually register movement, but by that point, the movement is so exaggerated that it messes up the drawing or piece I am working with..This didn't happen with CS3 when I was using it yesterday, but has been happening since the beginning with CS6.
I just decided to try out Vista and installed the 32bit version. Following that I installed Photoshop CS3, but when using it some weird problem occurs.
When I use certain cursor types (for example the marquee tool or brush) the movement of the mouse feels a bit "laggy" or wobbly - it's difficult to describe. It's not as precise tracking as if I use move tool or the color picking tool (eyedropper tool it's called) - when I use these tools there are no problems at all and the cursor movement feels good.
This issue seems really odd to me - does anyone got some possible explanation to this?
For your information my hardware setup is like this:
Intel Q9450 2,66 Ghz cpu 4GB DDR2 memory Asus P5K/EPU motherboard Club3D 8800GTS 512MB graphics card Razer Deathadder mouse
I recently had to reinstall my OS (Win 7 64 bit) and after doing the same to my photoshop program, I now get a flashing cursor that changes to a waiting circle. Other post talked about DPI and Java, which I have checked and still have the same problem. I've had the program installed on the same computer without this problem, and the setup is the same with the usual update in drivers.
One of my co-worker has this problem with his cursor's crosshairs. When he moves his cursor the crosshairs are like blinking or sort of flashing. It's not that big of a problem but it's just getting anoying in a short while.
Apparently the issue has been happening since as far back as CS2. The flashing text cursor is only visible in the upper left hand portion of the screen. If the text your are attempting to edit is on the far right or bottom of the screen, the cursor vanishes. Some people have suggested zooming in and out, but this only appears to solve the problem because the art board may get nudged into the "good" portion of the screen. I did a screen shot and found that the cursor is only visible in about a 930p x 600p area of the window (not including toolbars). Incindentally, the is the same size that the window defaults to when initially opened. On a HD monitor, this amounts to a very small space.
Since a few versions (I have Illustrator CC), my cursor in Illustrator input fields flashes extremely fast when i drag the cursor over such field. This could be a regular text input field or anything similar where you can type in something or adjust a value by clicking and dragging. Â What happens is that the cursor changes to the Illustrator cursor and then back to the Windows arrow cursor in an extremely fast manner. It happens so fast, that it completely slows down the mouse interaction and the cursor movement lags behind my interaction. Â I have Win 7 x64 with the newest display drivers. This problem occurs only in Illustrator and Flash.
Using an old version of autocad 2012 in my laptop as backup loaded on Window 7. Everytime I used the snap mode it slow the movement of my cursor to move to specific location, but no problem using the Window XP.
Somehow, the little triangle that opens and closes the Quick Develop Module in my Library has become solid, so it no longer pops the menu open when I glide my cursor over to the right side of a full screen image. How do I get the Quick develop module triangle to have that shadow look again so that when I glide the cursor to it the module opens. Â I must have changed this with a keystroke or something but for the life of me I cannot get it back and it's driving me crazy. I do not like the module open all the time and it's a pain to use the keystroke or click the triangle each time I need to make a quick adjustment. I hope this is not an upgrade change. I notice it is the same in my develop module.
In Xcode, we have to define cursor as: Â resource 'CURS' (16001) { Â Â Â $"00 00 00 00" Â Â Â $"18 00 3C 00" Â Â Â $"1E 00 0F 00" Â Â Â $"07 80 03 C8" Â Â Â $"01 E8 00 FC"
[Code]... Â In Windows we use .cur file, simpler. Â I want to convert .cur file to the mac format above, how?
It used to be in Gimp 2.8.8 for Mac I would see the preview of the brush as the cursor so I could judge what the size was going to be now in 2.8.10 Mac (running Mavericks).
I have no preview. Just an cross hair and the brush icon. So I have to blindly guess the size of the brush. Is there a way to get this back?
I've just started to use GIMP and there's a path filled with green circles associated with my cursor wherever I move or place my cursor. How I can get rid of the path.
I'm having the problem with pen cursor when i use dual-monitor.
Before I run GIMP everything work fine, The pen cursor can move in both monitors. But when I run GIMP, It lock my pen area into only the main monitor, even if I close GIMP. So I need to restart my PC to use both monitor with my pen.
It seems to be fine locking pen cursor area in a single monitor, But GIMP cursor IS NOT CORRECT with pen cursor. They both should be the same, But they are not. As you can see in the photo.
I've tried changing the input mode for tablet to Screen and Window. But it still doesn't work.
PS.I'm running GIMP in Window 7 (32Bit), My tablet pen is Kanvus Life H85
I recently bought a Bamboo Pen tablet to use with GIMP and have been installing under Windows (XP).
The tablet installs fine, is recognised by GIMP and I can draw with the stylus. Excellent. The only problem is that the cursor/arrow is missing which means that I can draw things but I only know where the stylus is when I start to write/draw.
I am hoping that this is a simple settings issue but how to make the cursor/arrow visible?
For a new feature in the next release of GIMP, I suggest creating a focus cursor which operates as in Blender, able to be moved around the image with X,Y coordinates. This will allow changes in zoom to center around the cursor / indicated area.
Is there a way to have a custom tool that executes commands where I point?
I'd like to have a tool that where I click takes the foreground color via pipette and in the same spot immediately applies "fill" with the settings the fill tool is set at.
Script pseudo code would be:
get cursor position use pipette at cursor pos to FG color apply "fill" at cursor position
I use GIMP 2.6.8 - when I switch to "path" tool or to "free select tool" mouse pointer is allowed to set vertices of the path or selection on non-integer coordinates (i.e. at x=13.5 and y=26.8 pixels)
How can I disable this feature and make mouse pointer (or vertex) snap to pixel boundary (or even to grid). I want it to be able to create paths / selections more accurately sometimes.
(or could I at least enter coordinates for each next vertex manually)
I want to add a cursor that I have made to my GIMP program. I have made one in the form of a circle. I have changed the extension to .cur, but what folder it needs to go in when I use the "Associate File Extension" facility in Windows 7.
After I open a create new image, the cursor disappears and the last tool I choose (rectangle...) appears and the cursor (arrow) disappears. Is this standard or is there a way to exit from the tool box and use just the arrow cursor?
Recently upgraded to Gimp 2.8 for the single window mode (which worksbrilliantly in Ubuntu, especially with the HUD).
But the Rectangle Select Tool has a new - but odd - behaviour. When I drawa selection, and then add to that selection, a new "square" is position atmy cursor. (See attached screenshot.) This didn't happen in 2.6 and is abit irritating because it disorientates me slightly, especially if I'mworking quickly.
Is there a way to turn that off (or revert it to the 2.6 way)?
When I move my mouse over my image the brush cursor is not moving and it will not let me click on my image (with the mouse) the crosshair/cursor will follow it, however the brush will not, nor will any other tools, my wacom tablet however works fine.
I thought it must be something to do with GIMP accepting input but its not going as of yet.
Photoshop CS3 and have stumbled across a bit of a problem. It seems that I have managed to lock my Photoshop file from all editing as I am unable to use any tool apart from the Hand Tool.
i downloaded the trial version of Photoshop CS4, and as soon as i installed it i had this problem. when i use the tablet, it would be fine and prefectly responsive however, if i walk away from the laptop for about 20secs or more, i just cant seem to get any response on photoshop when i use the tableti am not sure what is the real cause of the problem but its a constant annoyance, and the only way i can solve it, is to exit photoshop, and start it up again.only to have the same thing occur if i pause to do something else or alt+tab to check my email or whatever... i can confirm that theres nothing wrong with my tablet as it works for my other programs like Manga Studio EX or MS paint(lol)so i have NO idea why it is so buggy on Photoshop CS4. photoshop and vista just doesnt seem to get along... last year i bought photoshop CS3, installed it on my laptop(vista)
I've been trying the trial of CS3, and I'm encountering major performance issues which I can't fathom.
At first I tried it on my old machine, which was good for its time, but perhaps getting a little dated.
I built a new computer just last week, which is very powerful (Intel Core 2 Duo E8400; GeIL 4GB 1066MHz memory; Nvidia GTX 260) and CS3 performance is even worse than it was on my old machine.
Simply moving the mouse around on screen results in horrendous lag (the screen flashes each time this happens) to the point where it's so frustrating to use that I close the program. It generally runs fine; it opens and loads files and does its thing without any problems, and I've certainly noticed a big increase in performance when opening massive files, but moving the actual curser around the screen is an absolute nightmare, which results in general use being a nightmare. Zooming in and out with the scroll-wheel makes the whole screen flash too.
I haven't got a clue what's causing this, as people I know who use CS3 haven't encountered the problem. CS2 runs like a dream.
The OS I was using on my old machine was XP (32 bit), while I'm now using Vista 64.
I am having trouble with my tool cursors. Sometimes the crop tool changes to a crosshair and every brush size will only produce a small crosshhair cursor. This makes it impossible to see the area being worked on.
Rebooting fixes things for a very short time. Deleting preferences didn't work. And even a reinstall went bad after a few hours work. I have a P4 2.8GH processor and 1 gig RAM on XP Pro. Shouldn't those resources be sufficient to handle things?
creating some effects with an image, I've done something inadvertantly that has made my erase and brush cursor into a crosshair looking thing.,.. the sizing keys ([) (]) have no effect on it... no circle that grows and shinks when pressing left and right bracket. Checking at Edit/preferences/cursors... I see default setting I think:Painting Cursors=Normal Brush tipOther=standard
