GIMP :: Export To BMP / Default To 24bits?
Dec 24, 2012Export to BMP seems to default to 32 bits, but my 3d texture maps must all be in 24 bits. I would like to know how to make it default to 24 permanently.
Is there a setting for that?

View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to make .jpg the default export file type, or must it be .png?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded my laptops to Fedora 17 and Linux Mint 13, which now come with Gimp 2.8. After discovering that Save and Save as are moved to Export to and Export, I tried saving the default export settings for JPG. I usually set the Quality to 80 and make some other adjustments. However, the defaults always revert back no matter how many times I press the Save Defaults button.
Also, is there any way to make Gimp always use the previously selected settings? It seems that even though I set the defaults, with some images I open, edit and attempt to export, it tries to adjust the quality settings again. I just want to always have the defaults I have set for exporting jpg files without having to click an extra button or keyboard shortcut every time I save a file.
I haven't been able to find a way to alter the default export location in 2.8 on Windows. How to change the workingdirectory on the shortcut, but that didn't work. how to change this? If not can I submit a request? Ideally I thinkthat Gimp should remember the last used location, and/or have a config settings.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI adjust lots and lots of pix for our ebay auctions. Many items have at least 5 pix so they have the same file name but with a 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. at the end of the file name to distinguish them from each other. Example: eapgcompote1.jpg , eapgcompote2.jpg etc..
The problem that I have with Gimp is every time I save/ export a pic Gimp does not save the last export location and last modified date nor does Gimp offer the ability to select from previously saved items like in PhotoShop. I have to go thru about 5 steps in order to save each pic.
99.5% of the work I do for my employer is grayscale and I'd love to set grayscale as the default setting for export of .tif files from Illustrator, rather than cmyk which we very rarely use. Is there any way of doing this? My co-artists and I generate dozens and dozens of tifs every day, and this would not only be a time-saver but would prevent the occasional cmyk tif from sneaking through (they don't work in the system we use and always must be sent back - wasting more time).
View 2 Replies View RelatedAt my old job, when I exported sketches, it would automatically go to jpeg as jpeg was on top of the list. Now, I have to scroll through a lot of different formats looking for the jpeg format and of course, this takes up valuable time.
I make tech sheets in Illy at my job and need to export just about everything I do in jpeg format, for the benefit of others. I tried looking through the menus, but haven't found the answer yet.
Basically when I export a PDF and open it in acrobat it opens 'page width' I'd like it to be 'fit page' so the customer sees the whole proof, not just the top of the page.
I don't see any settings, but I only have 1 fully functional eye so I thought I'd ask you all.
IF there isn't a setting for it, can the fine people at Corel add this setting in the export dialog in the future some time? That'd be awesome.
Current System: i3 3.07ghz, 3gb ram, Windows 7 32 bit with all updates and X6
How to set a default under options for export to PDF? I need to set the Vector resolution so it defaults to 720 DPI instead of 400 DPI.
Inventor Suite 2013 Ultimate
In Inventor, when I export my idw to PDF, then open the pdf, the PDF opens with the "layers" browser open. Its easy enough to click the little arrow and close it, but I had rather not do that everytime.
I can change the defualt for this one file (via acrobat>File > properties, initial view tab). But that does not work when I create another new pdf.
Nothing in the Inventor options when I export it makes a difference.
I am exporting graphics to TIF format and it needs to be exact same as in document, RGB code. I found out that if I uncheck the "Embed Color profile" it exports correctly with exact color codes as in Corel. However, sometimes I have found out that I have forgotten to uncheck that little box..
So I would prefer to have it unchecked by default. How would I do it?
I opened filters.ini and found the TIFF section, but I don't really understand anything there.
Our office is currently running Inventor 2012, with SP2 installed (Build 219) and the program still seems unable to fully save and utilize a defualt configuration setting for exporting DXF flat patterns of sheet metal parts. Our laser machine requires AutoCAD 2000 DXF, and while I'm able to save a configuration file (.ini) with this setting, I still have to click on the "Options" button and then click "Finish" or it will save to the standard default AutoCAD 2010 DXF file version and our laser will be unable to read the file.
View 1 Replies View RelatedOkay I am trying to make a homemade flip book in Photoshop CS5 and am trying to save the frames. I imported a video and converted it into individual layers for every frame.
Now I'm trying to save it by going to 'File > Scripts > Export Layer to Files' and there is no options in my Scripts tab at all.
When I go to 'File > Scripts' all that's in there is just 'Browse'.
Then when I click on 'Browse' it just takes me to the folder where I opened the PS file. How I can get the default scripts back? I don't even have any scripts to export layer comps, which is something I do frequently.
When the Export To... dialogue box comes up, the image default is Zoom to Fit. Can I change the default to Zoom 1:1 pixel?

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy printer company is insisting that I convert my image to a CMYK profile.
After a bit of googeling it seems that a good generic CMYK profile might be ISOcoated_v2_300_eci.icc
And I found a utility to to do the conversion (URL]. However this utility wants to know what the source colour profile is. So, what does the GIMP use? I.e. if I create a new .XCF and paste in some images and do a bit of painting etc, and then save it as a .JPG, what profile will it be in?
Is the answer none? But I still need something for this utility. Or is it sRGB? There seems to be several variations.
way to simplify the "save as" procedure. I found annoying to have to select say, PNG, from a long list... Gimp remembers the last filter (... reuse sharpen?) but not the last file format and folder?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that every time I save an image in GIMP as JPG the qualityslider bar defaults to 85. Even though I keep changing it to 75. If thisnumeric value is a Photoshop equivalent like other GIMP features, then 85is probably a wasted effort. The research* I'm aware of* (note emphasis)says that the quality in JPG images saved at a level above 75 is"theoretical." In other words, the increased quality is there in technicalterms, but imperceptible to the human eye.
View 16 Replies View RelatedI have just loaded 2.8 with much anticipation and found that the default toolbox is fixed on the right-hand side of the screen adjacent to the dock able toolbars.
Is this normal for 2.8? It seems weird that it would now be positioned on the right.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI can't change the default colors anymore. I mean the default foreground and background colors. I can change them to whatever color I need, but whenever I open GIMP they always start in some combination I had once a few weeks back.
I thought before that I was able to change it simply by going into the preferences and telling it to save the tool options are they are right now. But at some point my default colors got changed, and I can't change it back. Every time I open up gimp the colors are wrong. I can't find the correct option to change the default.

I've been in the windows tab trying to locate the dock and can't. Hitting "tab" on the keyboard opens another singular dock. I would like the original multifunction one that comes on install.
I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but it remembered my dock settings.
I mainly use GIMP to create or alter memes for Facebook. The default fontfor text in 2.8 is Sans, just as in previous versions. However the type isnot Sans, but something similar to Courier (old typewriter type). Is theresome way to correct this fault and restore Sans as the actual font?

How to change the default tool settings in Gimp?
When I open Gimp, I want all selection tools to have antialiasing turned off, all thresholds set to 0, default brush set to 1 pixel, and erase tool set to hard erase.
How can I achieve this? (I use gimp for pixel drawings.)
