my pc is windows 7 64 bit
when i open gimp, the file formats listed at the open file dialog includes .eps but when i open any .eps file an error appear that says "could not interpret postscript file".
I am using Gimp 2.8, but when I try to import a .pal file, I get a message that says "unknown type of palette file." What's going on?

View 5 Replies View RelatedBeen using gimp a while, but today gimp refused to open my file system. Apart from my most recently used folder, the entire file system was greyed out. In fact the 'open' and 'open as layers' dialogues became non-responsive.
I am running 2.8.4. on Windows 7 Ultimate 64.
I have already restarted and re-installed, and updated to most recent from 2.8.2.
Import .svg file into gimp.. Image size 1024x1024 and smaller produces aliasing.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have Inventor 2014 SP1 and Autocad 2013 SP2 running with Win 8.,1 and I am trying to import my DWG file into my model in inventor. I have followd the instructions, but the options button in the open file prompt is inactive, and when I select the file to open it, nothing happens. Dwg TrueView is installed and is working. I have also right clicked the Inventor icon on my desktop and selected the run as admin option.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am working on a project where I am attempting to design a pendant. I wanted to do this in solidworks but I am not as experience with that and I'm having issues, so I went to what I know, AutoCAD. Unfortunately I am still having problems and I think it has to do with the import file from Adobe illustrator.
What I have is a circle with different parts and block text that I would like to cut out. I saved the illustrator file to a dwg file and it imported with a hatch over all the solid areas. I deleted that to get the respective outlines, and extruded. Most loops extruded but some failed to do so for some reason. But I have an option to convert to a pline, but then I get a specify precision dialog which adds a bunch of points along what seems to be a straight line.
Anyway, when I do manage to get things extruded, and go to perform the subtract command (or intersect which would be faster) I click the main shape, and then click the items I would like to remove, but it doesnt do anything.
I did get one whole to subtract, but I really dont know the difference between that and the others that made it work.
Photos I am trying to import have the same image number as photos already in LR3 catalog. What do I do....allowing duplications isn't working already tried that.

Even though I've imported some photos from the memory card, when I do another Import, all of the photos have been checked for importing including already Imported ones even though I have the "Don't Import Suspected Duplicates" option checked. View 1 Replies View RelatedAfter I've upgraded to OSX 10.8 Mountain Lion, I begin to see the following issue while trying to import .mts files from my Panasonic GH2 SD cards:
1. LR no longer sees individual files on the SD card. I know that this is because ML has decided to treat all AVCHD-related directories as packages and LR can no longer see the indivisual .mts files from the file system. However, Premier Pro CS6 CAN.
2. Even after copying the .mts files to an unrelated directory, LR is no longer able to import the files. I get the "There is a problem with the video file"
3. The .mts files I previously imported into LR 4.1 with Lion no longer plays inside LR. I see the thumbnail but if I attempt playback I get the "there was an error working with the video" error.
There obviously major compatibility issue with LR 4 and ML in relation to video files. I relies on LR for all my video file cataloging needs - now I am unable to do so. All of this was working just fine with Lion.
I downloaded a trial of Lightroom 4 and went to import my Elements 8.0 catalog. It says that it did do it, but with errors...and now when I open Lightroom, all my pictures just show up as grey squares. If I try to import pictures individually, it says that Lightroom already has all my pictures in the Library.

In searching, the sort option in the import dialog on "media type" should work so I can easily just select new jpg files, however this does nothing for me. Is this supposed to work? I'm running OSX 10.7.2 and LR 3.6.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI am trying to make a script file to open a drawing and run a lisp routine. They both work independently just fine, the script file will open the all of the files fine... and the lisp is in the startup suite and works in all the files. But when I tell the script file to open the first drawing then run the lisp it hangs trying to open the next file after running the lisp. I have Filedia set to 0, but the message I get when it goes to open the next is "No canvas exists. click New Canvas." (And on top of that... Filedia even set back to 1 still does not display the Dialog box anymore, I have to shut down AutoCAD 2012 and start again then it works.) I Have tried several ways, Opening one at a time then run lisp, and open all files first and then try to run lisp (that closes the file after running) and try and run it again in the next... It will only run the lisp one time and then locks up from there.

ACA2013 was released and I have had it on the desk for some time and finally I got the nerve to load the upgrade. This I did in accordance with the instructions. The upgrade went well.
Additional problems with my working files involved, the file will lose data while working in the file, the program will do strange things to the file like I would lose data while in layout tab within a viewport and the data would still be present in the model tab. I have lost printer setup files only to reopen the drawing and find these have returned.I have lost layout tabs completely. I would reload another menu and they would return. I was speaking to another person comparing Autocads and his had the layout tabs and mine did not.I have zoom scaling problems within the layout viewport. I use to be able to zoom, scale, 1/20xp for 1:20 scale and it would not recognise the command.I was informed via Autodesk to load the service pack Autocad_2013_sp1.14_64, this would not work then I was informed to load the service pack Autocad Architecture _2013_sp1_64 which it did successfully. Still had problems with ACA2013. have situations where the shell command will not work ie punch a hole within the object selected.I have changed from the working model tab to layout tab and back to model tab only to have the view change for no reason ie it will go into (+)(custom view)(wire frame) without selecting it.I have lost data, (part of the actual drawing) within my working drawing simply by using the boeleon subtract command.I have situation when you use the push pull command and nothing happens and then you reopen ACA afresh and try it again and this time it will work.I have email Autodesk in the US and it got alll TO HARD for them and they have abandoned me.
I'm relatively new to AutCAD map 3d but I've used arcGIS a while back.
I have existing roads, towns etc data that are already set to UTM 17. I want to import ascii point coordinates (from a comma delimited file) into the file. I can import the ascii coordinates as points fine (easting and northing), however the points come in as the absolute coordinates rather than geometric coordinates. I already set the files for right geographic projections. Beyond manually inputing the coordinates into the coordinate tracker, is there a way to import the coordinates form the file set for the geometric coordinates?

View 2 Replies View RelatedA co-worker had a copy of a handy little guide called "Lynn Allen's Tips and Tricks for AutoCAD 2012". I think she (or another co-worker) got it at AU.
On page 33 under the heading "DGN Support", it says the following:
Complex linetypes are now maintained! To ensure that custom linetypes are displayed, copy the corresponding .rsc files to the support path...........
The way I read that, Acad will read the RSC file and display linetypes from it. Is that true? Does it only work when I'm looking at a DGN file? Or can I use the RSC file with my dwg file? I'd test it myself but I don't have access to any MicroStation files.
If Acad can read the RSC file directly, then I don't see why the linetypes can't be used in a dwg file. AND that being the case, I also don't see why an Autodesk product can't be created to WRITE these RSC files. As far as I'm concerned MicroStation's custom linestyles is so much more advanced than Acad's linetypes.
How can I import the contents of an image file into an already open file? I want to import the WHOLE image, not just a cropped version.

Is there any advantage to using "file/import media file to library" (which makes a copy in the working folder) vs just clicking on the folder icon and adding them? I've looked at the file size on both the original clip and the imported one and they are identical. It does seem as though VS extracts the original date and time shot and uses that as the imported file name,

Each layer in all documents are named correctly for automatic script exporting to PNG files.
Now I want to import all layers from all ten documents into one master file. And importantly, I want to keep the exact names of each layer.
When I upgraded to 2.8, UFRaw didn't come along for the ride.
I tried installing UFRaw into the GIMP2.8 folder, but I get an error message saying "The program can't start because libgdk-win32-2.0-0.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.
I have a Genius 8x6 tablet, and it worked fine with 2.6. 2.8 doesn't register the pressure on my tablet. I checked another thread about 2.8 not registering tablets, and it said to configure input devices and change the pen setting. I don't have a pen option on the devices list. All that shows up is is the core pointer/ mouse.

I'm trying to put a watermark on an image using the opacity bar for the text. However, the text remains 100% opaque until I get down to 50% opacity, at which point it completely disappears. I thought there may be something wrong with the text layer (not sure if that's the right term.. layers and paths, etc. are all new to me), so I tried it with other tools such as the eraser and the same problem occurs. Is there a bug in my program or am I just really new at this?
So I've finally upgraded to GIMP 2.8, finding that .abr was native. I've downloaded thousands of brushes, only a hundred work, MAYBE. I'm confused because even the brushes that are not in .abr form do not work. Also, sometimes if I try to fix the brushes by uninstalling and reinstalling there will be random ones that work and then old ones disappear?
