Aug 12, 2013Is it possible to clear the clipboard without shutting down entirely? How?
I tend to multi-task to excess and this is causing me to mess up more than usual.

I somehow lost the toolbar with the "copy to the clipboard" and "paste from the clipboard" icons.. which tool bar i need to turn back on?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm a relative noob to GIMP. Long time Paint Shop Pro user who has gone over to a Mac Book. I'm very frustrated by my inability to paste more than one layer at a time. Meaning, that I paste a layer from the clipboard into an image I am building, but I cant copy a new image to paste in without shutting down the program & reopening....Otherwise the same image keeps trying to repaste.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI know from previous versions of GIMP it was possible to use the dimensions of the clipbaord data for a new image. I dont know which version this was, but I miss this behaviour. I couldnt figure out where to set it (if still possible).
So if i had made a selection of 123x456 pixels, copy selection, file -> new, then image dimensions were already set to 123x456 in the "new image" properties dialog,.
I just got Gimp 2.8 for Mac. I can open a picture, do a blur and export. The copy paste is giving me problems. It worked once. I make a selection with the rectangle and do a control c. I also tried the menu. The selection doesn't go to the clipboard. After 6 tries, the same original copy was the only one in there.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm thinking about some new feature which I'd love to see in GIMP but can'tadd it myself. Maybe there's a way to achieve it.
To the point. I'd love to be able to create new image from clipboard from acommand line. There is such function so I guess it wouldn't be a problem toadd it. Having this one could make a shortcut (e.g. in Unity's launcher RMBmenu). It's useful when some app (e.g. screenshot taking) puts image inclipboard and you want to quickly edit it.
Is it possible to open an image in the clipboard with batch mode?
i.e. File > Create > From Clipboard
GIMP 2.8
When I use the Cut or Clear function with a graphic design I can punch a hole right through a layer or layers. But with a jpeg photo and duplicate layers all I get is that the selected area turns opaque white. There are work arounds, but it would be simpler to be able to turn a selected area transparent. So what gives? Running Windows 7.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHowever I thought I will learn by experimenting and loaded a JPEG image. The image has a white border. I wanted to remove the border so selected it with magic wand and tried the delete command. Nothing happened! I tried to google around and came across floating layer. Checked this too. Saved the image as GIMP image opened but the border refuses to leave the image. How can I remove this border and make it transparent?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've made an abstract background using a gradient fill on the background and some ellipse selections also filled with overlay gradients. This image has been saved as .xcf before closing down Gimp. When I reopen the image, I don't see any way to remove the gradient fill so that I'm just left with the selection.
Ultimately, I want to change the gradient colors .
how would I make a clear glass effect, like when you look at a framed picture

In the attached photo you will see a fireplace, what I would like to do is to either lift the fireplace off the background. OR clear the background and just have the fireplace, then save it out as a PNG file.
I am trying to create an image of "Frosted Glass" I want to be able to save this and later import it to put on top of other backgrounds and layers so that you would see the back layer as looking through frosted glass.
I am new to gimp but have been looking around at different walkthroughs. I must be missing somthing though because I am not getting what I would expect.
How I am trying to do this is I created 3 layers a light blue, white and alpha channel(transparency layer).
I adjusted the opacity down of the white and blue layers and then merged all 3 and again tried to adjust the opacity to acheive the effect. However I am a million miles off the mark.
I have made an A4 Flyer (but, will cut to 5 A6 flyer). The background is yellow, but, I just want this to be clear. I'm stuck and can't seem to make it clear.

C3D 2013 crashed on me earlier today with the above error. I've submitted several Reports after the crashes. I've tried rebooting, repairing, re-installing, uninstalling and reinstalling with reboots in between. I have a presentation tomorrow and I need to fix my C3D drawings.
