GIMP :: Allow Users To Import Images From Network Scanner
Aug 4, 2008
I just installed Gimp on a few of our machines at work, the main reason being to allow users to import images from our network scanner and manipulate them etc...
If we scan several pages at once and import them in Gimp, only 1 page is imported. Once this is saved and closed, we then have to go through the whole process of File > Acquire etc. again, for each page scanned. (We use Fuji-Xerox mailbox scanner utility).
With Photoshop, when importing multiple pages from the scanner, all pages are imported to the main program at once.Is there any way to acheive this in Gimp? It's the only real problem we have with it.
I am trying to scan images from HP8600 printer/scanner attached via network. I get this error message "Not enough memoy to complete this action. Please close one or more documents or applications and try again. If this does not correct problem, you can try adjusting the memeory setting in Windows or you can work on a smaller version of the document."
I have already: - rebooted to have a "fresh" copy of Windows 7 - increased the virtual memory from 6GB to 9GB - decreased the scan to 100dpi (from the standard 200 dpi) - tried a different HP8600 - had the HP8600 scan and push the image to the computer (works, but just an average image) - searched the forum - read the PSPX5 bug thread
Using PS Elements 10 on my Mac OS 10.6 I cannot import images from my Epson CX 7450 scanner. Have had no such problem with PS Elements 8. When I select file, import, the options are limited and the scanner is not listed.
Map 3d 2011.User A connects to SDE using FDO and creates a dwg containing Mastermap data and other shape files held in SDE.User A saves Map 3D dwg on network drive that all users can access where all acad dwgs, docs etc. for that project are stored.
User B who is working on the same project at another PC tries to open the Map 3D dwg created by user A from the shared network drive but gets a "Failed to open FDO connection" error and cannot open the dwg.
Is this because Map 3D caches all data from SDE on the local drive of the PC on which the dwg was created? Is there a way around this to allow both users to access the same drawings?
I'm on a mac and I'm trying to run the photoshop script "Layer Comps to Files" - which works fine .... UNLESS I'm connected to an SMB network drive with "users" in the path.
NOTE: I am not trying to save to the network drive! NOTE: Each test I'm doing is exactly the same (other than which network drive is connected) NOTE: Just having the network drive connected with "Users" in the path messes things up!
eg. Script does NOT run if I have an SMB drive connected with "Users" in the path, e.g.: [URL]...As soon as I disconnect the SMB drive (I don't even have to close photoshop) the script runs perfectly fine. The script also runs FINE with other SMB network drives withOUT "users" in the path, e.g.:[URL]...
I found this thread from 2010 (which has never been resolved but is inconveniently read-only now) has the same issue with CS4 and it still isn't fixed in CS6:[URL]...
I have 20 images for a animation I would like to make. I don't want to make a Gif animation, but a PNG animation with Jquery. I need a file like this one: [URL]
How can I import all the 20 images and place them among each other?
I heard many good things about Gimp so I downloaded it, eager to begin editing my photos. But for the last 30 minutes, I have been unable to even upload an image to begin editing. I've tried everything, but no matter what, my images will not "drag and drop" like they're supposed to. I am getting more and more frustrated by the second. I read it might be the fact that it's a "jpg" file,so I tried renaming it, as suggested, still, no luck! I'm using a Mac Os X 10.6.8
After editing 100+ images in bridge I save the files as DNG for the magazines I work for, it's only just come to my attention that for them to alter the exposure/contrast they must convert the image to 5.5 which means losing the adjustments I've already made. It's time wasting for both of us.
I tried using the different options under 'compatibility' of saving for camera raw 2.4 and later (4.1, 4.6, 5.4, 6.6) not sure how to use the custom area. I'd consider using the previous version just on these jobs but I'm not even sure how to do that.
When I import JPG images from my digital camera Gimp assumes that they are 72 x 72 DPI. Is there a way to set this default to be 600 x 600 without manually adjusting it each time using "scale image"?
What is the prosedure to import img from scanner to photoshop elements? I'm used to PH CS, and there i have a choise to import scanner, but that is not present in PH elements?
I find only limited image import options under Photoshop CS5 and CS6. Under CS3, I have a number of options which I have used frequently, regarding preview, zoom, descreening, filtering, stretch, noise removal, fading, grain, etc.
None of these seem to be available under either CS5 OR CS6. In fact, under CS5, under "FILE>IMPORT", I I don't even GET the Canoscan 8400F opton. This is pretty basic stuff, getting good quality off a scanner. Do I need to go back to CS3 for everything? It actually worked.
Why can't I open my images in iPhoto to import photos to work with? I tried dragging them in, and I tried opening my iPhoto from the Gimp importer window, nothing seems to work.
I moved the TWAIN plug in... and still the scanner doesn't show up in the import menu... in fact the import menu option is greyed out and unavailable.
I'm on an iMac running OS/X 10.8.5..I have been struggling with this for 2 weeks now, I even bought a new scanner yesterday and still nothing shows up. if this is a function that Photoshop Elements 12 is no longer capible of doing... if so any photo editing software that CAN do this?
I have bought a new iMac (OS Lion) and am manually migrating all my stuff from an older Mac G5 tower (OS Tiger). I have installed the Canon 5600F scanner software and did an upgrade from the Canon site and all seems to be working well. I also downloaded a new (old one was not recognised) TWAIN plugin from Adobe and put it in the Photoshop C4 plugins folder marked Import-Export. My problem is that in Photoshop it is showing the 5600F scanner in the Import menu but does nothing when I click on it. I have rebooted everything but it does nothing.
I am trying to scan from a Kodak ESP 3250 All in One, into X4 on a Toshiba Satellite with 4GB memory and a 120GB SSD with 80GB free.
No matter how small an image area I try to scan, colour, grey-scale or BW, or how low I set the resolution, I get the message that there is not enough memory, and to close some documents, even when there are none open.
I can scan from the ESP 3250 into other installed programs OK.
I have Windows 7 Home Premium with all updates installed.
I cannot import files from an epson scanner V750 pro. The screen reads unable to read preview. I am scanning B/W negatives using 16 bit Grayscale and tiff image format?
I've just loaded debian 7 wheezy with gnome 3.8. When opening the gimp I go to CREATE but only find sane showing the cam ... I think the thing I need is called something like quiteinsane in order for gimp to see the epson stylus XS230 ...
Trying to scan images from a scanner into the organizer, but the scanner's automatic naming system resets after every session, so the next time I try to import images I get a "filename already exists" error and the scanned images are lost.
How do I get Gimp 2.6.11 to work w/my SCSI scanner? I ampresently running Xubuntu 11.10 Live CD. CentOS 5 sinstalled on my HDD. It's version of Gimp runs my SCSIscanner.
I just upgraded from Photoshop Elements 6 to Elements 11 on a brand new iMac running OS X 10.8.2, but Elements 11 will not recognize my Epson Perfection 4990 PHOTO Scanner as an option to import from when I click on "File" then "Import." Is there a Plug-In that may be missing for this to operate as it used to in Elements 6 running on an older G5 Non-Intel processor? I don't have the new Elements 11 Disk to copy anything from, since I downloaded the program directly from Adobe.
