View 2 RepliesThe Autocad 2013 x86 or x64 is not installed on Windows 8 Consumer Preview because programs can not read .NET Framework versions 2 and 4 which are integral parts of the OS.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was wondering (I know it sounds counter intuitive) if its possible to get mac fonts to appear in windows gimp. I'm trying to redo images using gimp on a windows computer that come from .psd files created with a mac. The fonts (though Tahoma in both) don't look remotely similar because mac fonts are different from windows fonts apparently. Is there some sort of workaround I can use in gimp to make them look more similar? The mac font looks so much smoother and "full-er".....I wish i could say the same about the windows one. And yes, I am using the same size, color, and font in both images.
Here they are:

As an example I have a PNG file which I right click. The menu appears and I go to properties.
Then click on "opens with" change button. I arrive at the top half of the opens with dialog window.
Here is the bottom half of that same window.
Gimp does not appear in this dialog. So I proceed to browse for the program gimp so that I can include it [ ":\Program Files\GIMP 2\bin\gimp-2.8.exe"].
I select the gimp binary and return to the first open with dialog. Gimp is still not included in the selection dialog.
Perhaps the installation is not registering the software properly?? Previously I had earlier versions of gimp 32 bit installed and it worked properly.
I'm considering a purchase of the Autodesk Creative Suite (specifically for Maya), and purchasing new hardware in conjuction. Does Maya 2013 work with Windows 8, or do I need to purchase Win7 or lower?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI've just upgraded to Windows 8.1. Well it seemed better than Windows 8 for the first few minutes. Then I discovered Autocad won't open. (Microsoft claim it's compatible - obviously I checked their Compatibility Center first).
I have Autocad LT 2013 version 19.0.55.0. I have done a full uninstall and reinstall of the application and service packs. There is no error message, the loading screen and status messages appear as normal, and then just before opening everything disappears.
Is there any way to fix the windows in place when opening a file that already exists?Example: I go to my image folder, right-click to open a .png in GIMP, and the window opens up like this with the right corners of the image window off the screen. I have to resize every time, just to see the right-most parts of my image when I zoom in.
This is what I want my default settings to look like - perfectly set within the screen, with each corner of the image window visible.I've messed around with the Preferences menu, but so far all I've been able to do is make it so my toolbox pops up in the same place.
regarding the installation of 2.6.10 usingthe unstable installer :
Is there a way on windows 7 64 bits to get rid of the following alert eachtime you are executing something :

I did a complete uninstall of GIMP 2.6. Then a complete install of GIMP 2.8. No errors during installation. When I run GIMP, Windows draws a window frame with the title "GIMP Startup" but the inside of the window remains unpainted (whatever was behind it remains visible). This window frame exists for maybe one second and then closes. I have waited a long time but nothing continues. Task Manager confirms that no application is running. I uninstalled, downloaded again, reinstalled (even just a "compact" installation), but same thing.

Accessibility or Automation within GIMP on Windows.
Does GIMP 2.8 have any Accessibility or Automation features similar to MSAA or UIA available in the Windows version?
I have tested the GIMP UI and only Win32 Windows are accessible, but nothing within these Windows, i.e. Menus, Toolbox buttons, etc.
If no features exist on the Windows platform, do the features exist in the Linux version?
Goes straight to a black box that says not responding then gets to looking for data files and then windows takes over and searches for a solution before shutting the whole works down. Takes about 30 secs.
I just installed this because 2.6 was doing the same thing.
I have a new (cheap) Lenovo Notebook that came preconfigured with Windows 8.
With some effort, I have configured it to have an administrator account and a normal user account.
Today I downloaded the latest GIMP and installed it on the administrator account. The program starts fine (albeit painfully slowly) and seems to run normally on the administrator account. However, in the normal user account, Gimp gets part way through loading and crashes as shown in this image:
what the error message: "The application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an usual way" might mean?
i just update my Gimp to the new 2.8.6 and for some reason it keeps crashing whenever i start opening up GImp(the loading screen)! I kept uninstalling it and installing it again, but, the same crash always appears! I then restart the computer and it happens again!

Where is the profile for Gimp 2.8 in Windows? I have the hazy memory that it's going to change to be available as part of the "Roaming" profile.
it isn't possible to install 2.8 alongside 2.6 in Windows (7 x64 in my case) at least using the pre-built windows installer?
The installer for GIMP 2.8.0 will uninstall older versions first, but youcan simply reinstall GIMP 2.6.12 afterwards.
Reason for asking is that there are a number of 2.6 plug-ins I need, and looking at the GIMP plug-in repository few indicate 2.8 compatibility. So I would need to test them myself but if they don't work I would go back to 2.6, at least for some tasks.
Old plugins should keep working - if you find any that don't, report thatas a bug (this includes 32bit plugins running on 64bit GIMP).
I installed Gimp 2.8 for Windows tonight on an XP SP3 system and it hangs for more than 30min when starting (never completes initializing). Gimp 2.8 takes 50% CPU and 184Mb RAM and sits "Gathering Data" with no further progress. I end up killing the process.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled into a fresh directory with no change. I gave up and tried to reinstall 2.6 and get almost the same issue except RAM usage goes up to 550Mb and it sits at the startup screen.
Im now using Autocad 2013 and when I click in the open area of the drawing the xclip windows from the many xclipped block in the darwing all highlight at once. See example attached It is very distracting. Is there a way to turn that feature off?
View 9 Replies View RelatedRunning AutoCAD 2013 on Windows 7 64-bit OS Dell desktop.Whenever I plot 1 in 4 of the times, AutoCAD freezes, usually crashing. Happens both when either typing the command or using pulldown option.Freezes before I get a chance to choose which printer/plotter but plotting with HP Designjet T1120.
I am assuming downloading the HP Universal driver wouldn't do me any good. I am not crashing after I send anything to plot, but before, immediately after the 'Plot' window comes up, it freezes.
Every time I use a command which opens a window, like _options or _open, the window appears on my second monitor. What can I do to make the windows open on the same monitor as the primary window?

We get a lot of these:The program acadlt.exe version 25.0.55.0 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.

AutoCAD LT Error Aborting

The only changes since these started was a new wireless mouse (Microsoft) and loading Adobe Acrobat Standard (latest version) on the machine. We did both of those a few weeks ago and the problems have started after that.
I took the Windows 8.1 upgrade, and now AutoCad LT 2013 crashes just as the window starts to open up. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and have applied SP1.1 and SP2.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI installed Gimp successfully last night, but right clicking in the images in Windows Explorer does not bring up Gimp as an option to open for editing, even when I browse for it, nor is it an option for editing from Picasa which I use to organise my photos.

Colours > Curves ..... nothing visible. The toolbar shows the Curves options (histogram; sample average).
This happens for all selections in the Colours menu; all the other menus are working fine.
I know finding the magic words to use in a search can be the ticket!
I uninstalled gimp removed the .gimp2 preferences and reinstalled--
Edited: well this is embarrassing The png I was trying to edit with Curves had Indexed Colour layers.
I'm having an interesting problem where Windows doesn't recognize GIMP's jpeg exports. This could be due to the fact that I stitched together a composite photo in Windows Photo Gallery (Hugin wasn't working right), and Windows didn't recognize the output, even though GIMP did. So I imported into GIMP, did my usual editing, and re-exported it.
Unfortunately, Windows still doesn't recognize the file as valid (ex. won't open in Paint), and I can't figure out why. I'd attached said file, but it's too large...
Mostly, I am trying to figure out if this is a GIMP issue (unlikely, since other, specifically non-composite, exports still work) or how to resolve the issue, especially given that Windows Photo Gallery might be causing the issue.
Windows XP, Gimp v2.6.1.1
I have created a pic in Gimp with layers. When I save it to my desktop (layers merged), it does not appear either on the desktop or in Windows Explorer. If I try to save it again, it flags it as already existing. When I try to open the file in Gimp, it does appear on the desktop and can be opened; however, the file icons are grayed out. I'm assuming the grayed out icon means something.
I know that Gimp 2.6 has single window mode, is there way to get single window mode in 2.6.11 for Windows?
I have windows 7 x86
I Can't capture web page in gimp 2.8.4 ( windows 7 x64), A blank page is inserted after capture.
View 1 Replies View Relatedis it possible for gimp to have those windows with text(small in layers) to keep same height-width..
its very annoying to make something in gimp with a lot of layers, they become small! too small, and then when i want to delete many layers, they stay small.
I want to be big windows all the time.
