InDesign :: Recent Items Are Missing
Mar 7, 2014A netwrok group policy has kicked in on my machine (which I have managed to evade for 2 years) and the recently opened items has stopped displaying. The recent items options in Preferences>File handling is also greyed out. The recently opened items in the Start menu>properties is greyed out too. I know its the policy that is the root cause.
The list does not generate at all, even while I am active in the program.
However, Illustrator and Photoshop are still recalling the recently opened files as they normally would. While I know they are all different programs this gives me hope that there is a slim chance I can find a work around? Maybe redirecting where the data is saved or somethign along those lines?
Running CS5.5 Master Collection, Windows 7.just to add there is nothing in the group policy that is specifically directed at Indesign as i am the only person that has it.
Premiere Pro :: Get More Than 5 Items In Recent Projects List?
Jan 7, 2014After a rather horrendous incident with trying to do a series of videos all in one project using bins and shared media and a savefile that got *WAYYY* out of hand (20 minutes to load the file)- which I believe was tied to importing media from another .proj file, I have switched to a more modular approach with anywhere from 2-5 projects in each project and now a collection of around 15-25 projects on the go. Most of these are "work on a chapter, then change to another project while waiting for footage for another project" and several of them share pieces including multicam segments and sync'd audio.
Rather than importing from another project, I am using Control-C, switch to a different project file, then paste in. This isn't the most "Adobe Professional" style way of doing things, but considering that I lost several hours to trying to recover from the last project, even when I only needed to spend 20 minutes pumping out a rough cut, I'm not going back to that method until my next computer upgrade and until I begrudgingly switch to CC in around 1-1.5 year's time.
So the issue that I'm faced with is that I'm often using the Open Recent Project flyout and having 5 projects on that list is just not enough to be remotely useful.
In MS Office, the list is quite long and even in photoshop, I can get 10. That's enough for my Photoshop, but I switch projects using the Recent Projects list in Premiere a LOT more often. I could just use my explorer windows to jump around, but given that I have 5-6 explorer windows open per project most of which are folders crammed with footage, PSD stills and peak files, plus other non-video things I'm working on right now, that's really not the simplest way to navigate at a glance.
How can I get 10, 20 or 25 items in that flyout list instead of mucking about with 5? I run Adobe Production Premium CS6.

May 29, 2009Why are my menu items greyed out until I hit a tool icon?Example .....open Photoshop, click "FILE" = everything greyed out except "recent" whose submenu (list of recent files) greyed out. Nov 25, 2013i just started using gimp on ubuntu 13.10 . almost half of the menu items are greyed out. most of the filters work or ar not greyed out, g'mic is greyed out and so is most of the stuff in the file menu (export, save, save as, etc.) . i already tried re-installing gimp from the software center with no prevail. this is how it was the first time i installed it on this new ubuntu 13.10 .
is there something that i can do to maybe refresh the entire gimp folder maybe? maybe delete it then re-install gimp. i really dont know if this would fix anything though.
this is really irritating. and no its not the "image RGB/indexed mode" problem.
im pretty sure i dont have anything installed (like some weird ubuntu restricted access fake file) that could interfere with the interface at all as this is a pretty fresh installation. the most i have installed that might even be close to interfering with the interface is "pipelight" which is for flash and silverlight, not gimp.
i even tried different color profiles and none of them work. i even downloaded the brand new color profiles from adobe. none of those work either.
the only way i got ALL of the menu options back, including g'mic, was opening gimp through raw therapee (basically adobe lightroom for ubuntu) which might be of some use in finding an answer to this?
i already have everything i need installed including the ubuntu restricted access extras and such.i just would like gimp to open normally with all the normal file menu options enabled like everyone elses and not be all greyed out ..

Lightroom :: Set Preferences To Open Most Recent Catalog?
May 19, 2012I'm running LR 4.1 with ACR 7.1 on a Windows 7 64 bit OS.
I set my preferences to open most recent catalog.
I then open another catalog and do some stuff in the catalog but when I start LR next time it keeps going back to a different catalog. How can I change the settings so it either opens the most recent catalog or I get prompted for which catalog I'd like to open (I've tried both settings) and LR still keeps opening the same catalog.

Jan 7, 2013Every time I try to select the text of an item in the open recent list the recent list will disappear before I can select it. I've discovered that I must carefully move my mouse pointer down the left column that precedes the entries in order to select any of them. Autodesk, could you fix this so that anywhere on each item is selectable and the recent list stays open until the mouse moves off of it?
It is said that a fool's voice is known by multitude of words... I'm just writing this stuff instead of saying it outloud... that's my loophole.

I can't seem to get 'open recent file' to work in any of my CS6 programes It is always greyed out and never remembers what I've last done. Does it have something to do with the files being stored on a passworded server?

Apr 1, 2012I am a long time user of CorelDRAW but have been moving more and more to Adobe CS. In part because it is the standard in the graphic design industry but also because Corel always seems to have some issue. My latest issue is when I select an imported image in a CorelDraw file and go to the top menu, I can't select edit bitmap. The option is grayed out. It's a new install on winxp-pro. I've used this tool over many years and questioned why Adobe could not launch photoshop and edit embedded images from within Illustrator. It still can't, but it can edit linked files, a danger if you only want to apply changes to the image in your current work file. Corel's ability to edit embedded images is a great feature. Why it does not work has got me stumped. jpg files are associated with Photo-Paint, I close and reopen Corel and still no capability to edit images from within CorelDraw.

May 29, 2013I'm using CD X5, (I own it, not the trial download) and the Effects/Add Perspective menu choice is greyed out. ! Not selectable. I select the photo I want to change persp but the option is not available. I did reset the interface by pressing F8 upon load and it did change to default but still no perspective option.

I should add that this is the Home - Student version. Should that be any different? Nothing else has been ... yet anyway!
CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X6 :: Aligning Text Only - Vertical Align Checkboxes Greyed Out?

This does not occur when aligning objects, nor text with an object.This only occurs (as far as I can tell) when aligning two or more sets of text alone.
When I enter the align and distribute window the vertical align checkboxes are greyed out with "Top" selected.
It is not possible to uncheck or select any other vertical align option. It is possible to "force" the window to deselect it by selecting "top" in the distribute tab, but this does not make the align options selectable again.
You can workaround this by creating a temporary object to align with your text.

Feb 14, 2012I've spent some time designing a chart using the table tool. Now I want to adjust some column widths and add some text.
However, the mouse keeps trailing a small table icon, and all it will let me do is insert another table. I can't enter text, or highlight a row or column, for example. Most of the right mouse click options are greyed out.
How do I change from this mode for the mouse, with the Table icon switched on, to other modes where I can do other things with the table I have already created?(If I create a new table below this existing table, all is well. However, I can't grab the content in the earlier table to paste it into the new one.)
CorelDRAW X6 :: Positioning Imported Items
Jul 3, 2013When I import items, I get a "tool tip" near the mouse stating that I can press enter to center on the page. Or I can press the Space Bar to use the original position. I have a lot of templates set up that I use to go off of, and like to use the space bar for a different quick key.
Is it possible to switch the import quick buttons around somewhere? for example: to have the enter button place the file I'm importing to the original position?

Apr 17, 2013I am hoping to link text items between pages and items in the drawing such as elevations?
So, ideally, I would have a front page to my drawing set, and this would have a 'Contents' type table on it, with the title name of each drawing in one column, then the drawing number in the next column. This is the tricky bit, someone must know: If i was to change the name / number of any item in this table, could it change also (linked to) the following items:
Drawing title (as a text idem on the layout sheet that that drawing relates to)
Drawing number (as a text idem on the layout sheet that that drawing relates to)
Elevation call-out (on the plan view)
And possibly:
Excel reference cell
Drawing layout tab title (this might be pushing it!!)
Perhaps this could be done by linking to an external Excel spreadsheet with these titles modified in there? I'm not sure. This would be ideal as typing into excel is a lot easier than the triple click text modify method required currently.
I waste a lot of time renaming and updating sheet names / titles / numbers. Are there standard templates for drawing sets that may have this built in available anywhere that I could try?
