CorelDRAW X5 :: Print Output Not Correct?

Mar 7, 2011

I was using CarelDraw 12 and had an output problen when I purchased a new printer (HP Laserjet 1525)  The page is set for portrait, 8 1/2 x 11, as it always has been, the printer prints the top half OK, but shoves the bottom half of the document up so that the final copy printed is 8 1/2 x 8 1/2?  I have downloaded a trial version of X5 and it does the same thing so I am assuming it is a printer/driver issue?

Premiere Pro :: Getting The Correct Output Resolution?

Dec 20, 2013

I am on a mac using CS5.5

I am making a short 10 second sequence to be displayed as a new years promo on two digital billboards. The requirements are that it is in .wmv format which doesnt pose much of an issue but is still relevent, and I need a copy in 880x256 and one in 448x160.

I have tried so many different avenues to get this to work over the course of a few hours and cannot seem to find a way for this to work out in my favor.

I started two seperate sequences each of custom settings with the specified resolution (880x256 and 448x160). I create the sequence for each and fit the frames accordingly.

Photoshop :: How To Get Correct Print Size

Oct 29, 2013

I am editing and saving pictures from a original size from the camera width 2623 pixel( 8.73in) X 4166 pixel(13.887in). I need to make prints as 5x7in and 4x6in. It seems that no matter how I size them in adobe CS6 they will not print in correct size at either URL.... which I use for prints. I also have pictures from my new camera, canon 7d and it's picture size is 3456 poixel(48in) X 5184 pixel(72in) , also can't get these sized correctly.

Paint.NET :: Getting Correct Print Size?

Mar 26, 2011

[URL]

The 8x12 pixel size is 768x1152 and the 8x6 pixel size is 768x576. As to the need of being 11.5 I knew that, but I had this plan to work larger in order to downsize it and not lose any detail of clarity. If I'm understanding some of the other things I read you get a 100 pix per inch, but paint.nets is 96 per inch?

But let me throw a couple more things at you as well. I've made some scrapbook pages in what I had hoped were 10x13's to be printed out for framing...however, when taken to the Walmart printer it cuts off half of one side like the pic is too big..this is even when going for a 11x14 and larger size. I resized them, still cuts them off. Yet I make a 6x4 canvas and try to use it for my desktop background and it's too big for it in the "fill screen" mode, not mention the distortion.

Is there just a simple, cut and dried formula for image, canvas size that will come out the print dimensions I need? I'm sure I'm missing something basic, but my mind only works in basic mode!!

Illustrator :: CS3 - Print - Output - Won't Allow To Select Separations

Aug 26, 2012

The prepping process should be really simple right?  Separate colour layers, using Illustrator, then print each layer onto transparency sheets.  Well I'm about to loose my mind.

The image is CMYK, its a single spot colour (I think) which is red and the outlines are black.  Printer is a Canon ix6500.

I can't seem to separate the colours in Illustrator CS3?!  Why?!  When selecting Print > Output > Mode > it won't allow me to select Colour Separations.

I've tried to overcome this by selecting Printer > Adobe Postscript and PPD > Canon ix6500 series.  This allows me to select Colour Separations, but then it won't print, it only saves it as a PDF, and prints it as is.

GIMP :: Can't Get Image To Print At Correct Size

Mar 8, 2012

I'm a very new user to GIMP but have been using paint shop pro for quite some time - I still use version 7

Here's the situation: I received a pdf that I want to print so I imported it into gimp. It's 8.5x11 at 100dpi & two pages. So I imported it as two images (not layers) at same resolution settings. White out the unnecessary images go to print and then to printer preferences. 300 dpi is the smallest resolution on my printer so I also select 8.5x11 paper & 'sale to fit.' The resulting image is so large that approx only the top-left quarter of the doc prints.

OK, so in GIMP I go to 'Print Size' change the image resolution to 300 pixels: same result, exactly
Print size isn't it, lets try 'Scale Image' at 300 pixels. Same result again...

I tried both settings above with 'scale to fit' (printer) on & off with absolutely no changes to the printed image... very strange. Is gimp overriding my printer settings? If so how do I correct this?

Interestingly, when I re-sized the images in gimp (or thats what I thought I was doing with 'print size' & 'scale image') the size of the view-able image on the desktop in the application window did not change... the size of the window stayed the same, the zoom percentage did not change & most importantly the image did not change.

Finally, I checked if the original image prints correctly in Adobe Reader: No problem and it prints fine. Unfortunately, while I have what I need, I'm not one to give up that easily and want to know if the issue is the printer, gimp.

Why I can't get the image to print in GIMP at the correct size?

AutoCAD Print / Plot :: Different Output With Same Page Setup

Jul 11, 2013

I have created a bunch of Page Setups (for both Paper and PDF) that work great when plotting from the plot menu. Lately, I've convinced my people to start using the sheet set manager and the publish command. However, on some computers, (not mine) plotting (to PDF) from the Publish dialog box outputs a file that seems to ignore the page setup. Using the very same Page Setup, the file comes out perfectly when plotting from the regular Plot menu. I don't understand how:

1- I get the same result with both methods on my computer (the one used to create all those page setups);
2- I get page setup to apply perfectly on my computer;
3- I get the expected result on the problematic computers when using Plot;
4- But I get different results on the problematic computer when using Publish.

*Note: In the publish dialog box, I use "Publish to: Plotter named in page setup" and then I select the wanted page setup for all my selected layouts in the list. My page setups are using "DWG to PDF.pc3", so the "plotter named in page setup" in all cases should be "DWG to PDF".

I've been doing tests with PDF files set on A1 format (841mmX594mm) and the output is perfect on my computer. Then on another computer, strangely, I get a PDF with these dimensions: 863.6mmX558.8mm (34"x22"). On the second computer, doing the very same steps, I get 431.8mmX279.4mm (17"x11"). Three computers, three different outputs with three different values. One works, two miss. I'm stoked.

Keep in mind that all three computers output perfect files when using the standard plotting menu (using the same page setups) so I doubt the page setups are incorrect. Does the Publish command deal differently with page setups than the plot command ? I would have assumed that both commands would react the same. I 'd like my team to be able to batch plot like I can on my computer.

AutoCAD Print / Plot :: How To Make TIFF Output Higher Than 100 Dpi

Oct 22, 2012

Our local agency has come up with a requirement that CAD-generated drawings be submitted to them as 200 dpi TIF files, of between 300kb and 900kb. They do not accept dwg, dwf, or even pdf.

When we create a new plotter in AutoCAD, using any of the raster file formats, setup for the format only allows 100dpi. You can create larger numbers of pixels, 1024x768 vs 1600x1200, for example, but that is not translating into higher resolution.

We have tried the route of printing to pdf, then converting to TIF, but the file sizes are coming out far too large.

If we are unable to find a solution, I guess we can always print to hardcopy and then scan to tif. In 1996 I would have been happy to do that, but not now.

Our specific version of AutoCAD is AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013, but I am sure this is more a generic AutoCAD issue.

AutoCAD Print / Plot :: Changing Printable Area Changes Paper Output Size?

Sep 28, 2010

Using an HP 1050c Plus with the latest HP drivers for Windows XP on AutoCAD MEP 2009.  If I use the standard printer margins it all works fine, except that the margins are way too big and no border we have will print without cutting off at least .25" all around.  If I go to properties and change the margins to .1" all around, my 42x30 sheets will print out with 43" of paper.  If I make them .25", I will get 42.5" of paper.  I just started at this company and have never had this problem before with an HP 1050 plotter.  I have tried different combinations of the Extend margins, Inked area and autorotate checkboxes but haven't been able to figure it out yet.

Photoshop :: Scanning Dpi Size For Vintage (3x4pic) To Produce Larger 11x14 (print Output)

Dec 11, 2012

I am creating colage images in Photoshop CS4. I sometimes use scanned vintage daguerreotypes or other small snapshots. They are often small sized at 3.5" x 4.5" or 4.25" x 5.5". My Epson 835 scanner can scan in at 300, 400, up to 800 dpi. If I intend to print these scans at 8x10, 11x14 or a larger size within the overall collage, should I scan in at the highest dpi allowed by my scanner? Does this make a real difference after 300 in resolution/clarity?

Also, Does Photoshop CS4, in the enlarging process, as I bring the smaller image into my composite and stretch size it up with (T) tool, end up just making "junk pixels" using "Bicubic" or "Bicubic smoother" in the printing from flattened PS  file, even tho I scanned in at a high dpi? scan in at best dpi so that the image won't be pixelated, lose resolution as it is used larger inside the final composite collage.

Now, on a new project, it has to have the crop marks. Problem is, When I add those, I get marks like the black lines shown in each corner here. Obviously, this is NOT the cut line. The cutline should be more like the ones I have added after the fact in green.

How do I make the marks show up further in to the document (like th green lines) versus showing up at the full bleed's edge?

CorelDRAW X6 :: Spot Colour Naming Broken In X6.3 Output?

Jun 13, 2013

It looks as if custom spot colours created in X6.3 are not being correctly named in exported EPS or when pubishing to PDF.

Example:

I create a new, blank palette in My Palettes. I add a colour named with a screen colour of C=10 M=20 Y=30 K=40 and save it. I cannot name it at this stage (typing anything in the name box changes the CMYK value) so I leave it blank for the moment I mark it to be treated as a spot colour and change the name to NondescriptBrown

Next I create a document with one object, and I assign 100% NondescriptBrown outline to it. Good so far -- it shows correctly as 100% NondescriptBrown on the status line.

Export to EPS without a preview image -- making sure convert spot colours is off.

Open the EPS file in a text editor and look at the line: %%DocumentCustomColors: (C10 M20 Y30 K40)

That's right, the export has named the colour C10 M20 Y30 Y40 and searching confirms that the correct name NondescriptBrown does not appear anywhere in the EPS.

Looking at the palette's XML file I see:

So, it seems that X6.3 should be looking up the proper name in colors>page>color.name and using that for the export, but is instead exporting with the internal colorspaces>cs.name which is a purely arbitrary name that is not for external use.

I can fix the problem by manually editing the XML file by changing colorspaces>cs.name and colors.page.cs both to NondescriptBrown, so that the internal name is already the same as the correct export name, but clearly that should not be necessary -- and if CorelDraw can display the correct name on screen in the status line, it ought to be able to export it correctly too.

Exactly the same applies when publishing to PDF, but is harder to prove, because its compression renders the file unreadable in a text editor.
