CorelDRAW X5 :: Print Preview Is Showing 100% Grayscale As CMYK

Aug 13, 2012

I've been searching for this for over a week & finally thought I'd better go to the experts!

I have a 2 page document that has CMYK on one side and 100% Gayscale (with 2 Grayscaled bitmaps) on the other side. My problem is that when I go to print preview it shows the Grayscale as CMYK Separations. My printer is counting it as color instead of grayscale so we are being charged much more than the grayscale would be. I haven't changed anything in my color profile and actually deleted my ColorSettings.xml and rebooted Corel Draw to reset the color profile default. Still no change.

What I am used to (& what I need) is for the print preview to show my page 1 as CMYK separations and my page 2 as black like it used to. I do a lot of ads and need to be able to determine if there is any color in my document when there shouldn't be.

Problem number 2 is that around my grayscaled bitmaps when my document is printed there are thin black lines showing up where the edge of the photo is. None of which shows up in print preview.

I am using Corel Draw X5, Windows 7 - 64 Bit

Photoshop :: Colour Profiling With Canon IP6600D

Jan 2, 2013

I am using the above printer on Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy with Canon original inks. If I let PS (CS6) manage the profile and set the printer driver color correction to NONE the driver set itself back to Driver Matching setting straight away. The result is extremely saturated colors in some areas.

If I don't allow PS to manage the profile but let the driver do it automatically the color results are much better but... surely it would be better to have PS managing the color profiles.

Photoshop :: CMYK Consistency Between Screen And Print

Nov 20, 2005

I am working in PhotoShop CS in CMYK. I am satisfied with my colors in PhotoShop, but when I import the graphics into InDesign, the colors dull considerably. I take this to mean they will print similarly.

I have had issues with getting my CMYK files to print like they look on screen. Does anyone have any tips on how I could get what I see on the screen to match more closely what will come out of the printer?

Illustrator :: CMYK White Elements Don't Print

Jun 15, 2012

I have an Illustrator CS5 logo with a tagline beneath that is converted to outlines, all in white, zero values for all four channels. There aren't any FX, graphic styles or anything applied to them, nor are there any bitmaps. They're just compound and simple paths filled with white. The logo previews in the print dialog box and prints, but the tagline below doesn't appear in either case.

I tried several things, like the deconstruction of the letters to simple paths, which showed everything as simple paths but  nothing came of that. I also tried coloring everything with "White2" swatch, resaving the .EPS as .AI and .PDF, changing the size of the artboard, reverting to legacy, copy/paste to a new file, etc. Finally...I tried converting the CMYK file and graphics to RGB and it all previewed/printed.

I am on a MacBook Air with Lion 10.7.3. There's no print driver yet for our Canon; so I'm using a generic PostScript driver for the time being (betting this is the culprit). There are a tremendous number of print options that I don't have time to test.

Photoshop :: Final CMYK Print Out Color Quality

Jul 29, 2003

I'm making an ad with alot of bright colors. It's gonna be printed to a glossy photo paper for distribution, but I'm having a hard time getting the monitor colors to match the printout colors.

I started as RGB workspace, then once finished I converted to CMYK, but the colors drastically get dull.

I know that it is normal for colors to change during RGB to CMYK transition, but is there any way I can preserve those bright colors?.. (it's mostly bright orange and green.)

Workspace specs :

RGB : ADOBE RGB 1998

CMYK : SWOP V2 20%

Conversion : ACE

Intent : Relative colormetric.

Illustrator :: How To Convert CMYK Artwork For Spot Colour Apparel Print

Sep 11, 2013

I'm pretty new to preparing artwork for spot colour printing - it's a hoodie design in this case.

I created the artwork in CMYK originally, and have got some of the way towards converting into a 5 colour print job using Recolor Artwork, so I've got it down to 5 swatches.

However, the printer is asking for colours separated by layers, which makes sense - I think means knocking everything out so there is no overprinting - is this correct?

If so, what is the best approach to take, to avoid unnecessary work, to convert from the current artowrk, with a lot of overlapping artwork, to produce 5 layers each with vector artwork coloured with its own Pantone swatch?

CorelDRAW X5 :: Printing With CMYK (Win 7 / 32)

Jun 29, 2013

Since yesterday all of a sudden my OKI color printer shows white areas in a sandy color, when I use CMYK as color modes. Other colors are shown in false colors, too. This effect is also shown in print preview, what means for me, it´s not a printer issue.

Refilling areas with colors in RGB works, but I don´t want to live with this workaround. Nearly all my Corel graphics are made using CMYK.

He has Corel Draw X5. When he opened the file and checked the CMYK values he was surprised because they were different from mine.

"I think you do not understand that the barcodes and codes in general HAVE TO BE IN BLACK/WHITE. You cannot just integrate it in the 4 colour artwork as if it is a picture."

I use X5 upgraded directly to SP3 and PDF file shows Corel PDF engine version:15.2.0.686

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X3 :: CMYK To RGB

Apr 8, 2013

COREL PAINT X3 does not do a very good job of rendering most of the CMYK images we've been getting in from our Taiwan base, and, due to language problems, we have been unable, despite decades of trying, to communicate the issues.  Typically we do the original photo here, something that I used to do, but now the company uses a professional photographer - not wanting to spend big bucks on a professional camera.

His ultra-hi-res RGB photos are sent to Taiwan, where they are cleaned up and converted to CMYK using an unknown color scheme, for use in printing our mini catalog.  Then I get the catalog back - in InDesign - with instructions to convert the linked CMYK photos back to RGB for use on the website, etc.  The color model that they are using in Taiwan, however, typically has deep black at something like 70,65,65,70, which shows on the screen in Paint as very dark and garish, and it means that if I use the default RGB conversion, it looks that way in RGB as well, and half the picture will be solid black - 0,0,0.  I.e., unusable.  Oddly enough, however, it prints just fine. Now I'm pretty good with Paint, and I know how to use the tone curve to reset the values in the CMYK to usable levels, but it takes time, usually 3 or 4 tries to get it on the money, and of course in the process I'm compressing the color space by half, so there is an inevitable loss of detail.Of course, if I could get them to send us the original RGB or their cleaned up - background dropped out - version in RGB, then the problem would be eliminated, but no luck so far on that.  My question is, is there any way to simplify what I'm having to do?

CorelDRAW X6 :: Color Change CMYK To RGB

Oct 22, 2012

A few months ago I made the switch from X3 to X6. I use Corel for lasering, and need a RGB red hairline for the vector cutting. All of my old files were done this way, but for some reason when they are opened in X6, they are opening with a CMYK red hairline, which does not cut on my laser.

Is there a way to get this to change automatically on old files, or do I just have to do it manually as I need them? I have thousands of files, and I seem to forget to change this sometimes.

I do have it set for RGB to be my default now, so anything new I create isn't a problem -- just the old files.

CorelDRAW X5 :: Converting Registration Black Into CMYK

When we get for example, a logo sent to us (also happens with PDF's that are sent to us as well), many times the black is registration black and I need it to be CMYK.

When we PDF the ad to send it for printing the black is on all 4 plates (CMYK) our printer says, drop CorelDraw spend $2000+ and get in design and CS5 and your troubles will go away. I am hoping there is a solution that lets me continue to use CorelDraw as I love this program and do not want to switch.
