May 11, 2011I am upgrading some macro code (actually VB.Net code in standalone .Net 3.5 Windows Forms application) from Corel Photo Paint XI to Corel PhotoPaint X5.
My previous CorelScript.BitmapEffect("Replace Colors", "ReplaceColorsEffect.V11 RepClrInColor=5:255:255:255,RepClrOutColor=5:0:0:0,RepClrIgnoreGrayscl=1,RepClrSingleClr=1,RepClrRange=0")
used to replace the white color in a bitmap to black.
This doesn't seem to work in X5. Is there some documentation available on the use of Bitmap Effect?

Feb 1, 2012I am trying to change the background of a photo. Not just change the color but change the color AND make it keep it's original shading, etc. I have some family photos we had made recently and they used a beige color draping for the background. The ones we had made before had a black draping. I was wondering how I could go about using some sort of additive coloring to transform the varying shades of beige to the same varying shades of black.
I have already used the masking tool to separate the background from the rest of the photo.

Jan 4, 2012Is there an easy way to do color tints on a photo in PhotoPAINT? And by that I don't mean just correcting the tint, I mean converting a regular photo into one that has a single color tint (e.g., yellow, red, etc.). I've tried graying it out and then adding a transparent color layer over it, but I'm not getting the result I'm looking for.
Also, while I'm at it, are there any (current) books out that cover PhotoPAINT in depth? I know that the official DRAW book has a section on it, but it's pretty basic.

Mar 3, 2012I'm guessing that this is a super simple question, but evidently I'm not sharp enough to figure it out....I've imported a bitmap file [.tif] into PP, & it's MUCH larger than the letter-size canvas I'm using. So I'm wondering what the simple method is to fit that bitmap to the canvas. The thing that's driving me nuts is, I select this big bitmap [it's roughly 3300 px by 2800 px, FWIW], go into Image > Resample, & under "Image size" it's giving me 11.0 x 8.5! And why PP is saying that the image is already the same size as the canvas--well that's why I'm writing this post. Cause I don't know why.

May 11, 2013I am trying to delete an object background to create a gif of an object (the object in this case is a broken cell phone). Everything appears to be gone BUT...there are these flowing blue items around the object. When I export the file to gif...those items are still attached to the object.
I have used photo shop and have not had any issue removing a background around an object.

Feb 22, 2013making a GIF with PP. I'm working on a really simple one, I have a background, and I have an object that I want to move into the frame, then back out of the frame. Then loop.
Do I really have to combine the moving object with the back ground EVERY single frame?
Is there a way to say take this object over this many frames and move it from here to there?
Is there a way to save the position of the object in each frame without combining it to the background each time? I'd like to set it, go to the next frame, move it, go to the next frame, move it, repeat.
Current System: i3 3.07ghz, 3gb ram, Windows 7 32 bit with all updates and X6

Dec 15, 2012When I'm working in PP on designs with many layers I have problem with uncontrolled attaching to object i'm moving.
For example I'm moving object to bottom of page using shift + page down and after trying to move it few layers up using ctrl + arrow up. Sometimes two objects moving instead one. Its random error so hard to simulate it when you want.

Jun 16, 2012When I'm saving my file as PSD I have strange error with "nice" description.The only way to avoid it is search and delete design elements - I found that its caused by one text object.
The question is what can be wrong with text object to generate this error. I can edit text and do everything with it but I cant save it as PSD. Its hard to find it in big complicated designs. I think similiar problem was in Corel Photopaint X3. Seems like it left to X6 version.Bug exists in all files with text objects.

Corel PHOTO-PAINT X5 :: How To Turn Off Anti-aliasing When Rotating Object
Jan 19, 2013I'm trying to rotate a small object in Paint. When I use the rotate toolbar to enter the angle I need, the object rotates just like I want. Then I hit the apply button and some pretty heavy handed anti-aliasing is applied and the object is essentially destroyed. I've been using Paint for quite a long time so I figured there must be an option to turn this off. I can't find one. I even added the anti-aliasing button to the rotate toolbar and turned it off but that doesn't make any difference.
Essentially, what I want when I rotate an object is the chunky, pixelated preview, not the final anti-aliased so much you can't tell what it even is anymore final product.
At this point, I'm going to have to resort to rotating the object and taking a screenshot of the preview and using that instead of the mess that the final result is.

In my case, the entire image has now been cut, not just the pasted object.The reason I do this is because I'm working with two virtually identical pictures. On one picture there has been a modification which I wish to paste onto the other. I cut and paste but need to align the pasted object with the picture. So, I paste the object and move it; then cut and then paste it to check it's in the correct position. If it's out of alignment then the image appears to move. There may be other ways to do this but I find this way easy.

I have a grayscale image (pencil sketch with pencil shading) of a glass object in a CorelDraw document. I'm tired of having to go to Photoshop Elements to edit images in CorelDraw docs, so I opened it in Corel PHOTO-PAINT X5 from within CorelDraw to edit. I want to change the image's 'white' (actually slightly gray) background to a color appearing in the CorelDraw document.
I tried using the Magic Wand to select all of the 'white' background, but the popup says the WAND only selects ADJACENT pixels! Isn't there a way to select ALL pixels of a given color like in Photoshop E. (conitguous/non-contiguous)? If there is a simple way (without the Wand) to change the background color of an image (not of a PP doc!!), I would nevertheless also like to know how to select non-contiguous pixels of a particular color with the wand. Also how to invert a selection. Also, how to select a color in CorelDraw to use as a fill color in PhotoPaint (both X5).

I recently calibrated my monitor with a Spyder 4 Express. I process my RAW images in ACDSee Pro, saving them as tiffs - ProPhoto RGB. Yet when I open the same images in PP, skin tones are quite saturated and I'm wondering why? Prior to calibrating my monitor, everything was normal across all my programs, as it is now in ACDSee Pro. But not with PP and OnOne. Something has changed between the programs and I can't see what. I've attached my current Color Management settings from PP.

May 4, 2011Running Windows 7 - 64 bit with X5. About 2 weeks ago PhotoPaint tools changed from a nice, easy to use circle, showing the size of the nib in use (paint brush, clone, mask brush, eraser, etc) to a representation of the tool with no indication of how large the nib is. I've tried working through this, being busy with work, but it's very frustrating and was so much easier with the nib circles - showing the size.
This is the same thing that used to happen in V.12, and previously the solution was to return to a checkpoint in the system, re-install and all was set back to normal. It's been almost a year since switching to X5 and have no memory on how or what the process was back for V.12.

apparently reads the EXIF data to determine relative UV.
The Screen and Multiply blend modes seem to change EV by about one. Naturally, this can't recover pixels at (0, 0, 0) or (255, 255, 255) but it comes close with most other values.
