We have a SAN network that is several folders deep where we put all our project files. I see that there is a short cut that saves with User or Project in the network module. But it doesn't work!! At least for me. I had this work a few versions back but it wasn't consistent, which was weird.

I just want to import some media (and do a conform) via the network. I can see everything, but it won't connect. I also don't get any error messages. I already restarted all components and they all show a green status. I don't know what else to do....

there is a Folder with MXF-Files on our Network that I am accessing trough the gateway. The folder contains 1600 Files. The Browser Display Options are set to Titles. Smoke needs approximately 20 Minutes to show the content of this folder. Every other software on the machine does this within one second. why that is and is there something I can do to speed it up?

I'm trying to get a gateway setup so I can get ProRes into my Smoke. Everything is running, I can see my "Helper Monkey" from the MediaHub in the network, and browse to it.. but all I see is the System volume, although I have 2 Windows shares mounted from a server. I'd like to avoid having to copy all the media locally to the Mac HD first, and just let it read from over the network off another workstation. I realize the performance implications, but I'd like to use this to create cache media on the Smoke so I don't care much.
I have not licensed the gateway yet since I was just seeing if I can get it to work at all first (I'm actually trying running the Mac in a VM because my actual Mac Pro is old and won't run 64-bit.
Smoke 2013 looks amazing, but I can't manage to make it work both at my place and at my office. There is a problem with the stone + wire. I'm sure it has to do with the network settings or the host files, but I'm not familiar with these notions.
View 6 Replies View Relateddoes smoke have a feature to do 'time offsetting' ? in connect fx (not in action), i have a clip and applied some fx node like blur , CC etc. Now i want to offset or slip the network (media and fx nodes), so not only the media but also all the keyframes from all the fx node. Can i do this ? i use foundry Nuke where this can be done easily. How about in smoke ? So maybe like attaching a 'timeoffset' node to the network.

Pretty much every caption generator I've ever used has something like alt arrow to adjust between characters - even Avid title tool! I know I can use the kerning slider but that's a bit slow on larger amounts of text.

This makes scanning through clips and the timeline so much faster and I consider it a basic essential.
Smoke classic shortcut is not working for Schematic vuew in CF, tried on three machines. Also why there is short cat for all "delete" "add" but not just plain move anymore. space M is not working. What's the logic?
View 2 Replies View Relatedi'm trying to link my edl with the correct clips. So when i got a green check icon , indicating that smoke have found the matched clip. But before i link it i just want to make sure that it's the correct clip. So in the bin, the clip is highligted and i double click it to open it up in the viewer. The problem the viewer split control is disabled so i can't do split screen to match that clip with the guide/offline (in the edl sequence i've inserted the guide movie). all i can see i have to link it first then go back to timeline and now i can view in split screen.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I use Paint module with Graphics menu, I get bad edges randomly on the image in action. The default setting of Anti-aliasing in paint module is 4 now, and I have tried to change the value from 4 to 1, 1 to 4. the only differences are the amount of, position of bad edges.
I also tried to check the "Divide" function in the media-list, but it gets from specific colour to white. I only want to take the bad edges away from the image.
I have been attempting expressions to link to letters and/or words within the Text module but it doesn't seem to work. I just watched both of Grant's tutorials on expressions and I can make expressions within Action but not in the Text module.
I will copy a value and try to use the "Link" button to "attach" it to another value and no luck. No "e" shows up in the channels. I can copy and paste the values to other channels but using the Link button does not do anything.
Is it possible to nudge a video segment or audio clip in timeline with a short cut key?In FCP7 I used this all the time.

I have run into a problem with my Pipe Network data shortcut. When I am in a drawing that is referencing my Pipe Network not all of my structures are showing up. I confirmed this by going to the prospector tab/pipe networks/storm/structures. According to the list It is obvious that not all of my network structures are making it to the new drawing. I've double and triple checked the source drawing to make sure that all the structures actually exist and they do.
I've deleted the data shortcut and recreated it and still nothing.
how to make a data shortcut to a pressure network? Is this feature even available? It seems odd that this feature would be left out of C3D 2013 when it is critical to plan production.

(I.e. I've got gate valves, fh's, and plugs in my design file, but when I data shortcut them into my sheet they are all come in as null structures) Not Cool!

I know that the AJA Kona 3 card has 2 outputs. Can Smoke send one eye to one channel and the other eye to the other of the Kona 3 card? Dual Stream output is what I am really getting at.

1. If I have a layered Photoshop file or png with an alpha channel (a still frame lower third), I see that I can import it as a multi layered clip, but what is the best way to have it in the sequence to show up properly?
2. If I have a QuickTime in animation format or Pro Res4444 format with an embedded alpha, how can I import that file to show and cut it on a top layer to animate above my video?

In Combustion, you would draw a selection and then apply an operator above the selection to achieve this. I don't see a similar selection tool function in Smoke, but I imagine you could achieve the same effect by duplicating a layer and using a Gmask via the Wipe timeline FX.does Smoke not have a selection tool similar to Combustion?
