3ds Max :: Converting Editable Mesh To Editable Poly Creates Extra Geometry?

Feb 13, 2013

A simple editable mesh object, a piece of terrain, which has standard texture on it an no modifiers, just some UV's on channel 1.

Whenever I add "edit poly" modifier or convert it to editable poly, additional geometry will be created. Statistics show that only vertex count of the selected object goes up about 6x but no additional faces are generated. This not the case when check on a sub-object level, there are lot of additional faces created. I've never seen this happen, jumping between edit poly and edit mesh has been easy without any errors like this.

I've tried the same model with 2013 as well - same results. Also tried collapsing the object, removing uv-mapping, different materials, attaching the mesh to empty box, etc, garbage collection, exporting it to obj and importing - even then same thing happens.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Unnamed Blocks With Lots Of Associated Garble

Sep 25, 2013

Somehow, every time we copy/paste from certain drawings, it brings in 9000+ unnamed blocks. Buried in these blocks are several thousand extraneous linetypes, etc. The blocks do not appear to contain any actual drawing objects, and are virtually unselectable. But the drawing size increases exponentially. Once a drawing is “infected” any item that is copied from it “infects” any drawing that the copied item is pasted into. Needless to say, this creates very large, slow files that are practically unusable. We have relied on copy/paste for notes, details, etc. and only recently started seeing this crop up.

Purge does not get rid of the blocks. We have tried a map query, which seems to ditch the extraneous stuff. But we lose our C3D object intelligence, and that process is far too cumbersome to run on all our drawings. We have tried the following lisp code that I found related somewhat to this topic a while back:

(vlax-for n (vla-get-blocks
       (vla-get-activedocument
  (vlax-get-acad-object)))
  (vl-catch-all-apply 'vla-delete (list n)))
  (princ))

Problem is, it deletes blocks C3D seems to need, so again the drawings are rendered basically useless. how to clean the drawings up and or stop the spread of “the plague”

I tried to attach a "blank" drawing that demonstrates the issue. I literally pasted a single line into it, and it is over 9MB, so it would not attach....

AutoCad :: Rotating Lots Of Individual Bits Of Text At Once

Gave a set of schematics to a client and they decided they wanted all the wire numbers rotating 90 degrees... In the interest of efficiency, any way I can rotate all the pieces of text at the same time whilst maintaining their individual position rather than selecting a base rotation point (as I have about 400 wire numbers to make my way through ).

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Batch Plotting Lots Of DSD Files

Apr 26, 2012

Is there any way for me to choose a bunch of .dsd files, and have those be batch plotted? At the moment I have to publish one .dsd file at a time, and each .dsd file can take about 10 minutes to go through all the layouts I have.

Does Autocad have that capability built in? Or is this a problem that can be solved with scripts?

Photoshop :: How To Paintover Lots Of Video Frames

Apr 18, 2011

I want to animate using video frames as guidelines in photoshop. Is there a way I can

1) Import a video file as frames/ layers

2) Easily do paintovers of each frame on separate layers

Obviously I can just insert the video frames as single layers and create a new layer over the top of each frame and do a paintover however this is a long process.

IMPORTANT I want to beable to see the last frames paintover with the new frame underneath so I can see what I just painted while still using the current video frame as reference. Is there some way to do this easily in photoshop as the animation panel is rubbish

I want to achieve something like this [URL]

HOWEVER, this guys has literally traced the frames, I need to use the previous paintover in conjunction with the new frame as reference. I am not tracing as such

I need to use the photoshop tools, I dont know if photoshop is the best software to use.

GIMP :: Moving A Selection With Lots Of Layers

But sometimes, after I put together a part of an image using multiple layers, I'd like to move that part somewhere else to give me more room or to put it next to something else. Is there a way to do this without going through each of the layers, selecting the part, and moving the part to its destination layer by layer?

AutoCad 2D :: X That Look Like (but Do Not Act Like) Nodes All Over Drawing

Jul 15, 2012

I recently had to re-format the cpu and re-install acad. I'm working with XP Pro and acad 2006 and am now having the "fun" of trying to get acad back to the settings I am used to.

Everytime I work in a drawing, whether it be new or old, all these little x's show up on my screen. It looks like 3 nodes overlapping each other. if I zoom in or out and regen they move. a zoom extents does not include them in the drawing area. pdmode has no effect on them nor does blipmode. I can delete everything in the drawing, do a regenall and they are still there. the below link is a screen shot...

[URL] ...

They are really anoying to look at and its been so long since I have had to configure acad I can not figure out what is doing this and how to stop it.

UPDATE- maybe just a coincidence but it seems they are being created when i copy something, maybe a temporary basepoint marker or something, but then they never disappear.

AutoCAD .NET :: Can't Pick Updated Block

Sep 30, 2011

I have programmatically created a block, which resembles the protective tube schematically drawn. The block consists of two ellipses of connected the two lines. This block tries to modify (also programmable). The modification consists of changing the position of the ellipse and the length of the line. Everything (almost) goes smoothly, until the pipe extends beyond its original length. The changes are visible, but I'm not able to pick the block beyond its original contour. So I can pick out such lines, if picked point is on the original length, but beyond its original length is not already. The same applies to the ellipse. The situation returned to normal, if I tried stretch the block (base point) or command _move. Regeneration of the model does not work.

I throw a piece of

using( Transaction tr = doc.TransactionManager.StartTransaction() ){//Block?Entity ent = tr.GetObject( per.ObjectId, OpenMode.ForRead ) as Entity;(...)BlockReference blRef = ent as BlockReference;(...)Ellipse ell1 = null;Ellipse ell2 = null;Line line1 = null;Line line2 = null;BlockTableRecord btr = tr.GetObject( blRef.BlockTableRecord, OpenMode.ForRead ) as BlockTableRecord;foreach( ObjectId entId in btr )

When I go to select, it's like everything EXCEPT End Point is recognizing. And while I can go to right click, and select end point, I am now wondering, if besides the rt click, there is a way to preset the priority, or order in which the osnap elements recognize the type.Without resetting the settings each time.

Photoshop :: Shrinking Pictures Without Getting Lots Of Dirty Pixels

Jan 29, 2011

Every time I reduce the size (height & length) of a picture in Photoshop, I get a lot more pixels everywhere. And when I mean a lot, it's really so dirty that I cannot use it !

I don't understand because i've got some pictures from a Canon 40D that are really good quality, about 3800px X 2500px, it says its about 28cm large. If I reduce to 14cm, so half the size, I almost don't recognize the people on the picture if it's a group picture: a face is just composed of a few pixels. But when I send the pictures to a professional to print them on a 10cm postcard, it's perfect as the original, no "pixel-distortion".

I've tried many ways to shrink the picture: image size, free transform, I've tried tiff, jpeg... It's always the same. - Do you know a good way to shrink pictures without having the "pixelisation" problem, is there some settings to take care off ? Even maybe another software that would do the trick?

I become desperate because I'm working on a Dvd cover and the quality is so poor it would be better with my cellphone and it was shoot with a Canon 40D. I had this problem over and over with pictures from different origins and it's annoying when I have to work on small printout.
