AutoCAD LT :: Make A Change Ribbon Contents It Goes Back To Default Top Position
Mar 12, 2012just upgraded from 2004 to 2012. Wow, sure looks different.I'm playing around with the ribbon & don't know how to stop an annoying behavior. I position the ribbon locked to the side of my display because I have a wide screen & if docked to the top I end up with a very wide, skinny drawing area. when ever I make a change tp the ribbon contents it goes back to the default top position, after which I have to relocate it again. Is there a way to get it to remember the previous position of the ribbon?

Jul 10, 2012I made a simple block for a utility pole in plan view. It consisted of a donut with one string of mtext beside it. I had created it so that the text would orientate itself to be horizontal in each viewport regardless of the ucs angle. I later added a line for a guy wire and made the block dynamic with visibility states. Now I am unable to have the text orientate to a horizontal position in the viewports.

Aug 27, 2009I've been trying to incorporate my menus and toolbars into the ribbon environment. I skipped acad 09 so this hasn't been fun. I used the transfer feature in the cui environment to get everything I wanted. I go to 2d environment to check that everything is there and it appears to be there. I load my cui and I get my icons and menus but no ribbon. I have a big message that says, "The Ribbon does not have any tabs or panels currently loaded." I type ribbon to load, but nothing.
I've now messed with this enough that even with the base acad.cuix file I still don't have the ribbons.

Can I change the tab position on the ribbon so the application tab is always far right?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Maximize Screenspace / Get Menu Bar Back And Loose Ribbon
Sep 17, 2013I've never cared for the Ribbon. IMO it takes up a lot of valuable screen real estate and spreads out commands I find to useful to be grouped together across multiple menus. I did like how the Menu Bar was laid out in LDD because all the commands for anything I could do with alignments, for example, were all in one place.
Here's how I set up C3D to have an UI more like LDD:
1. Show the Menu Bar: click on the dropdown menu button on far right of the Quick Access Toolbar (at the upper left of the C3D screen) and select Show Menu Bar. Old familiars like File, Edit, Points, Alignments, etc should be visible.
2. Get rid of the Ribbon: type RIBBONCLOSE into the command line and ta-da!

Mar 6, 2013change the default position the Text Format box opens in when double clicking on text to open the editor?
I have downloaded a list of system variables but have been unable to identify a system variable to control the location of the Text Format box.
Every time I double click on text to open the text editor the Text Format box opens directly on top of the text forcing me to drag the Text Format box out of the way to be able to see what I'm typing as I edit the text.
Some one in our office pointed out that the Text Format box is defaulting to open in the center of the screen and that if I want to avoid the conflict I should zoom or pan to a point where the text I wat to edit is not in the center of the screen. This is a major PITA that requires significant retraining as I ALWAYS zooom and pan to place what I am editing in the center of the screen. Twenty two years of AutoCAD use creates habits that are difficult to alter. I would think most people would do this by default and having the Text Format box default to opening in the center of the screen was a rather shortsighted choice by the programmer.
Shouldn't the placement of the Text Format box be relative to the location of the text chosen for editing, say above or below on the screen rather than defaulting to a set location?
AutoDesk Smoke :: Loading Media Back In Same Position It Was Saved
Apr 12, 2013In old versions of smoke when I load a source area back to my desktop I am able to select whether I want my clips 'tiled' 'stacked' or loaded back to 'saved position'. Where has this option gone in 2013. I have made a project put all my artwork into a source area in a nice logical way then wired this source area to another project and it just tiles my clips.
I am just missing the dropdown menu somewhere that allows me to leave it as it was originally saved!

AutoCad :: Settings Changed And Cannot Go Back To Default
Mar 20, 2012I have been using autocad for many years but have never experienced this situation before. I have received a simple Electrical layout file from a consultant, after opening this file my settings in AutoCAD changed, for examples the snap angle to the cursor changed to 337.18 degree, the selection box (pick box) went to maximum and a few other settings also changed. I had to manually go back to the options and change some of the settings back to what I normally have which is very much similar to default settings. But I could not change everything back to normal. I had AutoCAD 2010 and later installed 2012 to see if it would fix the problems. What surprised me is that when install fresh AutoCAD 2012, the default settings is now changed to the settings that has changed in my previous AutoCAD.I would like to change the settings back to normal.

May 10, 2012Here in my office we have several pc's running Inventor 2012 and we found out that when a network license is unavailable (the number of licenses is exceeded) then Inventor loses some of its configurations on OPTION window. The fields that are erased and put back to default:
- "General" Tab >> "Load VBA on start-up" is set to false;
- "General" Tab >> "Update physical properties on save" is set to false and "Parts and Assemblies" is unchecked;
- "File" Tab >> "Default VBA project" is set back to default;
- "Contet Center" Tab >> "Location of Libraries" is set to default
- Customized buttons on Ribbonbar loses its icons and we have to recreate them everytime it happens.
have a fix and a new implementation for the new versions to come?
CorelDRAW X4 :: How To Get Default Color Palette Back
Nov 9, 2011After a little while the color palette suddenly became glaringly fluorescent and no amount of rebooting could get my original color palette back. After that I opened the Palette Editor under Tools and fiddled around the Sort button settings there. This changed the order I was seeing the colors in my palette which stayed as fluorescent as ever and the original sequence would not come back no matter what I did. I read up a bit and played around with the Color Management settings-in vain. As a last resort I have uninstalled and installed the program again-to no avail! What should I do? I tried the F8 start as well-that didn't work either.
