AutoCAD LT :: Horizontal Ribbon On Second Monitor?
Oct 12, 2011Is there a way to orientate the ribbon horizontally so that I can have it along the top of my second monitor? It seems that while undocked it only goes vertically.

Apr 23, 2013we cannot afford giant size monitors. An average AEC firm would have a 23 inch monitor or 21 inches. Now almost all the monitors are 16:9. So already the height of the monitor is reduced when compared to the 4:3 monitor.With the Ribbon Interface, the height of the drawing space becomes even less. Of course the ribbon can be minimized etc. but it is a nuisance revoking it and minimizing again. the 2008 version IMHO had a better interface with dashboards which occupied the vertical space on the right side. This way the height of the drawing space is not affected. It used to be a good interface - why change this into Ribbon mimicking MS Office for a CAD program?
I know that you could still have the Classic interface - but you lose the convenience of the ribbon. Frankly, I am a "command line only" person. But I would like to get used to the Ribbon also. Only at this point of time it started to irritate me the small height of the drawing space.
By very huge monitors? or may be you are using highly advanced models where you have a choice for a 4:3 format? I am struggling. I would like to use AutoCAD the way the rest of the world uses - though I am very fast in command line and know by heart most of the commands & shortcut keys. Sometimes i work in FullScreen mode.
3ds Max :: Unable To Switch To Horizontal Floating Ribbon?
Apr 16, 2012There used to be an option called 'Switch to horizontal ribbon' in the right click menu when having the entire ribbon as a floating window. Looks like they removed it, so now I'm stuck with a vertical floating ribbon (?).

Nov 28, 2012I am trying to customize Autocad 2012 ribbon tab. I can't seem to find how to mimic the small arrow that appears in several of the standard menus. For example, in the 3D Solids - Home Tab, the second panel from the left is "3D Solids Home - Mesh" It has a small arrow in the corner that opens up a preferences dialogue box.
How can I add that arrow to a custom panel with that little arrow so that I can add my command to it?

I saw some source that hinted you could use panel1Panel.AddSlideout() but in the search I do not see any Ribbon API that allows for any slideout functionality?Do you *have* to use the CUI API for this?

So I need to know what people think would be good graphics cards, processors, etc. for ACAD 2012 & 2013. I say 12 because most times I'm in 13 something goes wrong (Vista). So I have gone back to 12.how to use the Ribbon now and I guess I'll have to learn Windows 7 too. I like my XP and toolbars and I'll miss them.

Jun 4, 2012At a multileader when "automatically include landing" is set to "NO" or unchecked, then a small point (like that at the end of a dimension line) is inserted in the callout block, such as the circle, which then prints. This makes for less than clean drafting to say the least--is this normal? If so, (why?!), is there any way to NOT have those points print/show up?

I need the dimension to always start from a quadrant, preferably 0 degrees.I'd prefer to simply pick (1) line and have AutoCAD auto-magically dimension that line from 0 degrees, rather than my having to draw short horizontal lines at each of these lines, then pick each one inside the DIMANGULAR command.

May 24, 2013What i want to do is ; i have a corridor with both right/left sides ending with linktosurface with fixed slope.In some sections my existing surface is not wide enough to get intersection with link to surface with fixed slope. So i want to use this "conditional horizontal target " if my surface is not enough wide for intersection then just intersect or go to the edge of my existing surface. But i learned that surfaces cannot be used as an offset target with that subassembly.

May 13, 2011I have created a custom ribbon in vb.net. And it works now.
However. To make it work i had to do a workaround because IExtensionApplication.Initialize is apparently run before the Ribbon is created in AutoCAD. To make it work i created a time that runs until the ribbon is created.
But i think this is implementation is flawed since i had to do the workaround, but also because the ribbon disappearse when the ribbon is updated. Say when the user changes something in the CUI menu.

AutoCad :: MEP 2012 - Ribbon Looks Different?
Sep 13, 2012I am using ACAD MEP 2012. While i was working on a drawing my AutoCAD session locked up and terminated the program, not thinking anything of it i just restarted ACAD and started working on the same drawing. I noticed the ribbon looks different and now all the command buttons are not showing up under the tabs they are ALL in dropdown windows now. I don't know what happened to the original ribbon setup but it is definitely not what it used to be. Attached below are pics of what i am referring to. The first picture is what it used to look like, the second and third pictures are what they look like now.

Feb 8, 2012I am new to AutoCAD and am trying to self teach myself using the autocad bible as a reference. I am on chapter 3 and was following the suggestions for moving the ribbon by undocking it. Great, but now I can't get it back to the top where it started. It moves left and right just fine. I tried undo 100, no luck. I tried restarting my computer but it has now transfered to all of my practice drawings as well, all have the ribbon on the side.

May 19, 2012In 2013, just placed a view in an idw. Now I need it rotated 90°. In pre2012, there was a rotate Horizontal and Rotate vertical command where we could pick the edge and it would align to it.
Has that been taken out of 2013 or am I just overlooking it? Restarted Inventor and that didnt work. I did not restore the marking menu because I have some customizations that I dont want to lose.
For what its worth, Wiki help shows the "Rotate View" command in the video..... maybe I don't have the full version...IDK. Looks like I am missing several commands here, like Apply Design View.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Conditional Horizontal Target - Odd Results?
Dec 10, 2012In particular, I am attempting the infamous task of creating driveway openings using a horizontal target with my sub-assemblies. I referred to the AU 2010 video tutorial that gets passed around here on the boards, and for the most part, it works with ONE tiny exception.
Like in the AU video, I set my conditional target to look for a particular layer, and I first attempted the exercise by placing ONE polyline (i.e. driveway opening) on the layer, and set set conditional "found" and "not found" targets to find this pline. The target found the pline on the layer on the right side of the road where I drew it, and created the opening as hoped, but it created an opening on the LEFT side of the road as well!
What do I have to do to prevent the conditional horizontal targets from ignoring the exact opposite side of the road? In my assembly, the left conditions are set to LEFT, and the right conditions are set to RIGHT, but when the corridor gets modeled, BOTH sides of the road will show an opening even if there is only one pline drawn.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Super Elevation And Horizontal Transitions
Feb 14, 2013I need getting a roadway to transition horizontally for a turn lane. If it were straight without super, it would be easy. However, the transition happens in a curve that needs to be super elevated.
I know I can use the lane transition assembly and set it to "change offset and grade" but with that, I would have to manually calculate my EOP elevations.
Is there a sub assembly with the ability to use the centerline super elevation data as well as transition horizontally?
AutoCAD LT :: MLeader Styles - Get Text To Sit On Top Of Horizontal Line
Jun 21, 2010Using ACAD LT 2009. Update 3.
I've tried some of the settings for the mleader text placement. I'm trying to get the text to sit on top of a horizontal line. And an angled leader from the horizontal line to the object I am describing, ending in a dot.
All this is working fine, the lines, dot, etc. It's set for straight, not spline. And max. 2 leader points. All works as I want here.
What isn't working well is the text placement. I am able to have the text be horizontal, this works. But I can't get it to have the text above the horizontal line. I can set the leader connection to underline top line, or underline bottom line, or underline all text. These 3 choices seem sort of retarded. The first two put the text right on the line with no space. Doesn't look good. The third choice puts the text a bit above the line, looks perfect, except that there is now an additional line below the horizontal leader line, and that looks dumb.
Am I missing something? Has this feature matured more in later versions?

Reversed horizontal line type does not display in AutoCAD 2012.
But if i open same file in AutoCAD 2010 or 2011 it displays.
This is Problem with Only line/pline drawn horizontally. Vertically drawn line/pline displays reversed line using reverse command.
