First i have to mention i am using a mac.
We are supposed to make a block (window for house) and in the windows version, apparently when entering BLOCK EDITOR - a tool palette comes up where you are able to choose "Linear Parameter" and then an arrow comes up where you can pull the arrows to each side.
MY PROBLEM: is that when i enter block editor this tool palette doesn't show, and i cant find where this linear parameter is.
If there was a way to have multiple stretch boxes when selecting one linear parameter.
I am currently working on 2D isometric drawings. I have lined up my views horizontally, so one stretch block is sufficient for stretching things vertically (I just drag the box over all my views), but I cannot find a way to efficiently stretch several views horizontally.
I was hoping that a solution to this will allow me to either select one grip and move at most 4 views horizontally, or just enter ONE value in the quick properties window.
The only idea I can think of now is to just make 4 linear dimensions, 4 grips, and have 4 quick properties inputs .
I am almost sure this is not possible in AI but I will ask it anyway:
is it possible to assign value of parameter as a result of non linear equation?
for example I would need parameter x to meet the equation
cos^2x+Ax+C=0
where A and C can be other fixed parameters.
I am trying to be able to have my outreach arm stretch horizontally and on angles of 5 / 10 / 15 degrees from the pole. I have been able to make the polar stretch for this and it works fine though what i am trying to do is have the luminaire height also stretch and move when the size of the outreach changes (i can make the linear dimension work the way i want though not the luminaire parameter) as when you add the paremter into the stretch action is only moves the top and leaves the bottom at the same location which is not giving me the correct height.
The block itself is alot more complicated then this I have stripped most of the parameters out to make it less confusing but the end result would allow the user to input the outreach angle, outreach length and luminaire height. I have attached drawing for your reference.
I have recently started using FIELDS in our drawings. I must say, they are very powerful.
This is what I would like to accomplish but have not been able to do it on my own.
I want to be able to add text/description to a block, then invoke that text/description with a leader. For instance, if I have a block of a 6x6 post w/ a square, I want to be able to insert the block, do a leader and invoke the custom description "P.T. 6x6 POST W/ CONC. FOOTING"
Setup or style expression that will take a field in a shape file that is defined as an integer and display it on a map with comma's for the 1000 maker (ie. 5913240 as 5,913,240).
I am using AutoCAD Map v2012 (can use 2013 if it has anything built in)
How do I manipulate a height parameter all of the dynamic blocks in the drawing from one single field? Say a field located in the drawing properties or on the drawing itself.
For example: Multiple blocks of different walls of same height with other blocks of things on located on those walls, dependant on the wall height, all linked to and changed by a single field. Possibly a Wall Height field located in the custom tab of the drawing properties.
I can pickout each of the blocks and change them at the same time in properites menu because they all share the same parameter name. I would just like to have that height parameter of every block in the drawing, that has that specific parameter controled by a single field. Which I could enter a new height at anytime that would change every block in the drawing to that height.
I have a situation where I have a AutoCAD table linked to a Excel table to retrieve lots of general information for a standard drawing. That works just fine. In additionally I can use the fields "formula" field name and select a cell in the AutoCAD table to pull the data from the cell to the field, and this works for table cells that are numeric, but some of the cells are text based, and for these situations AutoCAD simply gives me the #### result. Is there a way to use a field to display text data from a AutoCAD table Cell?
View 3 Replies View RelatedHow I can tie a key from a custom dictionary to display in a field?
I know that I can dump the custom dictionary into global and the fields can track those values, but instead of strangling my available memory I'd rather track the dictionary key directly. How can I utilize the Entity name or the actual dictionary name & key?
I would like to have a field in the title block that reports whether the drawing was created with Autocad or Civil 3D and also whether it was 2009 or 2011. The only system variable I found close was acadver but it doesn't distinguish between products.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using a symbol that includes a several text boxes. Each text box includes "prompted text" and "drawing properties". When I insert the symbol onto a drawing, the "Edit Property Fields" menu appears. In this menu, I can input my prompted field text or see the various "drawing properties".
My question is, how do I change the order that these property fields are displayed? It seems as if it depends on the order that the text boxes were created while defining the symbol definition. Is there any other way to change the display order?
What's the difference between linear and bi-linear when using gradients? they seem to do the same thing to me (or I don't notice a difference)

I need to use the dimension created by an action-parameter as a variable in a user defined function but AutoCAD will not allow me (see attached).
How may I access the action-parameter's dimension ?
it is possible to use a user defined parameter to drive a action parameter.
I have several polar and linear stretch actions i would like to drive from one parameter.
I need to convert a model parameter to a reference parameter thru the API.
I saw this item discussed in the group before, but I cant find the thread.
I got a deadline for my project, but I got a big problem:
"I cannot set the "parameter" for the End Value in Parameter Animate dialog"
For easy understand, let's see a example:
1. I got a part which has two parameters named: "A" and "MaxA"
2. I animate Favorited parameter A.
3. The End Value is MaxA_ (Everything is ok)
4. I finish Studio environment, then I change parameter MaxA_ from 200 mm to 400 mm
5. I turn back to Studio environment, the End Value now is "200 mm" (I want this will be MaxA_, so I can animate the flexible parameter).
show me how to keep the end value will be "MaxA_" after I change parameter?
How to copy the "Title"-field and the "Caption"-field into the "Keyword"-field?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to publish to the CC a guide rail. The vendor of the rail gives me the option of entering the desired length of the rail. After that he gives me the option to choose between the length that I entered and a shorter and longer standard length witch can be delivered faster.
I want to do the same thing with my published part, but I cannot make a key parameter to change depending on the entered custom parameter. I want the user to make the next steps when inserting from the CC: 1- select the size of the rail; 2-select the type of the rail; 3- enter the desired length of the rail; 4- choose between the desired length and the 2 recommended lengths (I need these 3 lengths to be shown)
Is this possible?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem regarding linear dimensions on 3D blocks.
I create a set of 3D blocks and add linear dimensions to these in paperspace. When I want to edit a block the line origin of the linear dimension loses its original set point and I have to spend a lot of time changing the annotations in paperspace.
Am I using the wrong type of annotative dimensions or have I chosen the wrong angle to add dimensions to my blocks altogether?
Creating User Parameters, can we use trigonometric functions? and can we add these to linear (mm) parameters?
Can we add the Values irrespective of Units i.e. Inch/ Deg/ Unitless
Example: d0 (In) = d1 (In) +d3[ul] + (sin(Variable_Angle))
In value = In Value + ul Value + deg Value
I have created a simple L-shaped dynamic block with a lookup table for its height and length. In addition to the ability to pick the right value pair using lookup table (HxW) I have added the ability to stretch the height or length using a stretch grip and a list of values. Is it possible to make the length automatically adjust to a corresponding value from the lookup table if the height is changed and vice versa?
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow I can get AutoCad to store my preferred "linear dimension" properties (i.e. arrow size, line weight etc).
Currently the standard setting are not what I use and every time I open a new drawing I have to go into amend a new linear properties and also any new linear dims I create has the standard settings.
I usually create one then "match" it's properties but it's still a bind creating the first one correctly.
Polar Stretch and Linear Stretch work properly independently, but when their "grip points" are overlayed and I'm trying to stretch the right side and stretch and rotate the bottom side of the drawing - Polar Stretch is screwing up.
The idea is to NOT to use them separately, but with one stroke having "grip points" overlayed all the time.
I would like to know how I can find a dimension that's created with the command (with the internal command name) "Create3DLinearDimension".
This command is used to create a linear dimension on a view that has the default dimension type set to "True".
For linear features, expand the Advanced settings and specify Fixed to show labels at fixed locations relative to the feature. Select Repeat to repeat the label at intervals along the feature.
Using 3D Map 2012 this is a really great way to handle Labels for Linear Features..but is there a setting that allows the end user to set a Distance or Limit to control the spacing of these lables....?
I am trying to create a best fit alignment from parallel linear sets of COGO points. When I run the command, about halfway through the data set the alignment suddenly curves out of away from the COGO points. I tried doing a best fit individually on each side, one side works fine, the other sets station zero about a quarter of the way into the points and runs it back toward the start, leaving out 3/4 of the points.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm using AUTOCAD 2011 x64 (E.208.0.0)I get the dimension linear tool;I specify the first extension line origin clicking somewhere;I specify the second extension line origin clicking somewhere; (ortho mode on)
Then I pull the mouse pointer to the direction I want the dimension go and I type 1, because I want the dimension lie down at a distance of 1 unit from the draw (a wall for example).
If I check the distance from the draw to the dimension line (not to the text) using de "Inquiry > Distance" tool I do not have that 1 unit I have typed, instead it retrieve a value like 0.9822, and this value varies on a random way, every time its different.
