View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to create a positive form of the inside of a differential housing.
My idea was to put two planes on the edges of the housing. Then using the Sculpt Tool to create a New Solid of the inside of the housing.
With the Derive Tool i could seperate the two Solid Forms from each other.BUT... When I want to create a New Solid with the Sculpt Tool I get the error ' Create Sculpt feature failed'.
I've tried to Derive the part to a Sureface model, but that didn't work.
I am trying to create a closed loop alignment for a track. Previously i have included a small gap between two alignments to get around the problem when a housing plot is created (see the attached dicument) when a closed alignment is created, Is there any way of getting rid of this?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm want to reproduce a differential housing. Therefor I need a part which is identical to the inside of the housing. In other words, I need a positive part inside of the housing.
I've tried to do this with Derived parts by placing the differential housing in a large block. But then I get a block where lining of the housing is missing. So i can't do anything with this derived part.
I have attempt to upload the file, but it is too large. Even when i try to compress it.
We're putting together a large scale (2000+) development of various housing types. These are modular units, and there is a lot of repetition (obviously). In all there are probably 6 main types, each of which has mirrored alternatives. Whilst the houses are identical, the individual plots do vary to respond to topography and the infrastrucural layout.
What is the best way of organising this in Revit ?Ideally we would like to schedule the types, walls, roofs as well as the ground works for each. I am not sure what the best approach to this will be.
Initially I had tried setting up a few house types as 'groups' then using individual building pads for each plot - this does not lend itself to scheduling overall numbers though.
I had also thought about modelling the house types as a separate file, and linking them into the masterplan, duplicating as necessary (not sure how this will work re. mirroring though). The level of detail needed in the masterplan isn't as detailed, so long as the external / internal plan is visually correct (annotations and drawings for individual houses can be kept in the relevant house type Revit file).
I'm still not sure that the linked model approach will allow scheduling though ?
We would really want to schedule the numbers of overall house types, as well as totals for materials (although that could be extrapolated from number of plots * materials for each type).I'm also concerned over file size and performance. 2000+ houses in the single model is likely to be a pretty big hit.
Any site with a comprehensive selection of electrical construction symbol libraries?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a terminal from Phoenix Contact(their p/n 3031429) it's a 2 level terminal - sttb4. When I associate two terminals (one on the top points, and one for the bottom points), it ends up putting the wrong terminal number on the top line. It does not matter what order i click as "master terminal" or not. And When I am dealing with a PLC, I use multiple 2-highs and it is a pain to constantly go in and manually force it to switch. I will always have one terminal with the wire number(based on rung number) and one based off from a PLC address. Is there a way when associating these terminals it will alway look at the PLC address as the top point?

I have heard that Autocad MEP is great for laying electrical conduits etc. I tried using it but could not get desired results because of probably wrong settings. the biggest problem is the bend radius. also i would like to know how to use custom switch boxes and junction boxes as per my country standards.

View 6 Replies View RelatedWhat type of line are you using to show electrical wiring in a house, I've used the arc line and I really don't like the flexibility of that, it want bend like I want it to. The next thing I'm trying now is to use a leader line without arrows, that works better, you can bend that little rascal all over the place.

We have an engineer who uses AutoCAD LT 2014. He needs to use an electrical symbols library in AutoCAD so he can properly create the prints & drawings for machines, schematic edits, etc.
Looking for such a library/add-on for AutoCAD has been unsuccessfully. How to obtain electrical symbols for AutoCAD LT 2014?
why some of the wires are not showing up in my idw? The segments are there but the wires are a "no show"..

Problem; I have both a 2 and 5 gang light switch plates in separate locations. I need to show in an electrical plan that there are both a 2 and 5 gang switches in these particular location without crowding the wall with switch symbols.
If there is a British standards for drawing symbols for electrical, fire, security, lighting etc. Seen so many different ones to use and is there a web site i can go on that would show me the correct symbols i should use.

I will be managing a small portion of a client's overall image workflow by updating their web prescence on a regular basis with new work and retagging/uploading old work. I believe this requires the catalog and the image library to be housed on an external hard drive that can travel between the two of us. We are both working on PC's with LR 5.3.
The workflow would look something like this:
Client downloads new images onto external hard drive and imports into LR "ClientCatalog" is created Flags Picks and Creates a Collection from those Picks.Hard drive is handed off to me where I open "ClientCatalog".Make suggested edits to images add detailed tags and metadata upload to various social media sites and websites return hard drive to client
Is there potential problem with this workflow? My assumption is that if everything is housed on the external hard drive then there are no worries about the catalog containing all the latest updates. Are there any "safety protocols" you would add in to this workflow (besides mirroring everythign on another hard drive)?
I would like to know how to go from 2d to 3d on a structural drawing, and be able to get beam sizes and lengths. The boss would like to be able to get a report on the amount of all the diffenet sizes and lengths. We using Autocad2013 with no add on.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to find a software package that would allow me to model lightweight steel structures; agricultural style barns (up to 60x100) constructed of bar trusses and columns. I can do hand analysis, but for multiple buildings per month, it would be too time consuming. I prefer something more user friendly than finite element analysis, that would produce a quality analysis report.
I have read some through the Revit summary, but it focuses more on the maximum potential of the program and doesn't describe the minimum level it will perform at; I will never be designing a multi - story steel stadium or warehouse or office park, etc.
I tried hard to find the symbols of the structural materials...but nothing.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've been working with inventor professionally for about a year now doing piping and vessels for the oil field. This also involves a lot of pipe supports and platforms.
I'm trying to streamline the process right now by coming up with a way to make some adaptive bracing that I can reuse so I don't have to model it over and over. Most of the engineer drawings I get are basically the same; 2d lines for beams with work points for the bracing and typical connection details.
I start with a skeletal model and use frame gen to drop my beams in. But bracing is where I run into difficulty. I get it done but its just tedious and time consuming
Is their a way I can make a reusable adaptive or flexible bracing for this task? Here's some pics of what I've been sinking around with to try and automate this (I haven't found a good solution yet).
1. Created my skeleton
2. Dropped beams in
3. Created bracing template
4. Dropped bracing temp in assembly
5. Constrained it into place
6. used make parts to place the gusset plates into my assembly
7. gusset plates fully parametric
I'd like to have a better process of doing this. Ideally I'd like to drop a whole brace sub-assembly (gussets, brace and bolts) in to the main assembly and constrain to the drawing specified work points and be done with it.
