AutoCad :: SYM File Conversion To DXF And Settings In Radan

Aug 9, 2011

I'm using Radan 8.5 for cutting on a Kaliburn 2200 plasma. Looks like when I shut down Radan on Friday I did something wrong and lost all my settings. I did have three decimal place precision and imperial measurements but Monday everything was one point and metric. I have ACAD 2004, Radan 8.5 and Solid Works 2009 4.1 on my system under Windows XP.

1. (Radan) How do I change back to 3 digit imperial?

2. (Radan) Can I set up a profile so if it happens again I can revert back easily?

3. (Radan) When I make a drawing of a nest, I have to annotate it by hand everytime. Is there a way to automate it then modify the title? Kinda like this:

JC Fab
Program 001005XXX

where the XXX will change for each drawing.

4. (Radan) When I print the drawing nest it comes out very pale. I have black and white checked but it makes no difference. Can my pens be set wrong? How do I actually print black? The notation JC Fab mentioned above prints correctly.

5. (Solid Works or ACAD) Is there a way to import a Radan .sym file into SolidWorks or ACAD?

Is this not a major issue that Autodesk would consider important enough to address, or is the object enabler minor in comparison to other issues?

Of course, these informations aren't published by Corel that maintain the secret of the format. But my question is: does Corel sell some SDK that provides some functions, callable directly from the source code written in c++, that permits the conversion of the file?

AutoCAD 2010 :: Command And Option Settings In File

Jan 19, 2012

“Command” and “Option” settings in the AutoCAD...Is there a way to save the “Command settings” and the “Option settings” in the file but not on the “AutoCAD program”?

Examples:

The default of the “Isolate” command is “Lock and fade” For me I prefer to switch the this setting to be “Off”The default value of the command “FIELDEVAL” is 13. For me I prefer to switch the this setting to be “Off”The default setting of the “default mode” is “shortcut menu”. For me I prefer to switch this setting to be “repeat last command” ( I go to options>>user preferences”>>Windows standard behavior>>Right click customization>> default mode>>repeat last command. Is there a way to save these settings on the file such that if we open this file in another computer then we don't need to set them again?

In other words, why aren't the “Default settings” “Option settings” saved on the file the same way the “Drafting Settings: like sanps, Osanps” are?

AutoCAD 2010 :: ARG File - Auto Publish Settings And Workspaces

May 8, 2013

When I created our custom profile ".arg" file, with two custom workspaces along with the OTB workspaces. I set the Auto Publish Settings to publish to PDF on Exit. With 50+ users, each can create thier own workspace for thier liking.

I have some users that like the feature, and others that do not. The ones that do not like the feature, want to turn the feature off.

So the question is if, under each individual workspace, we uncheck the Auto Publish feature, then save that workspace, is the feature turn off for JUST that workspace? Or does it cut the feature off for all workspaces?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Restore All Original Settings For Drawing File?

Dec 27, 2012

I recently switched from Civil 3D 2012 to 2013 student version because when I initially installed the program I probably messed up some of the settings that I shouldn't have for my entire application. After reinstalling it, I noticed that the program seems to run just fine but the settings for the original file I'm trying to work with remain, such as label settings, linescales, etc.

I want my drawing to match the settings of new drawings when it comes to labels, scales, and anything else I might have changed. Is there a way to apply these settings to my original file? If not, is there a way to at least make sure the label styles can be reset? I don't want any changes to the settings I made to be present in my file.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Survey Database Settings Change On Import Of FBK File

Nov 20, 2013

Recently we have discovered a problem (bug?) with the survey database. We usually import our field data from our Trimble controllers into the survey database (SDB) through Trimble Link. We have been very careful to get all the survey database settings right, so that the data comes through correctly and have been successful up until the last few weeks. We find this a good workflow, where we are able to make edits to our field data (change target heights etc) easily in the SDB and comparisons with Trimble Business Center and direct output on-screen in the controller confirm that our data is reliable. We often have both GPS (long Network RTK vectors from the nearest network base station) and total station observations in the same file.

The issue is that, as the fbk file is imported, the survey database settings change to reflect the content of the fbk file. The "Atmospheric conditions" and "Curvature and Refraction" settings, which I have purposely left unticked (the controller applies these corrections), become ticked. This throws out our heights, especially on the long GPS lines.

We do have the option for a workaround, which involves going back into the Edit Survey Database Settings after import and updating the data in the sdb, but this is clumsy.

This seems to be similar to the issue that was discussed here.  However, we have only just encountered this issue in the past month or two, which coincides with when we rolled out C3D 2012 Service Pack 4 across the office. We are planning on implementing 2014 soon, so I have tried it out on 2014 as well, with the same result.

Is this something that others are dealing with too? Perhaps there's some sneaky setting somewhere that I haven't found which locks down the SDB settings preventing them from being changed on import? Otherwise, I think this is a bug.

I am also bracing myself for some comments regarding the dangers of using GPS in the SDB!

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Shift To Deselect - Settings Change Within Individual Drawing File

Jan 16, 2013

After reviewing many similar topics, I am still at a loss here.  We are finding that the settings for using shift to deselect items seem to be changing within individual drawing files.

I open 2 drawing files.  In one, the shift/deselect works fine, but in the other is does not deselect anything...

Further - within the non-working drawing file, the option to activate 2 hotpoints on a line and then stretch that line no longer works either.

Like everyone dealing with these shift/select/deselect issues, we are wasting an extreme amount of time trying to resolve issues that never seemed to be issues with past versions.

Photoshop :: New File Size And Settings?

May 9, 2013

I’m trying to put together a photo collage in PS for printing as a poster, size 600 X 900 mm.

1. First issue, what settings should I use for my new sheet/file, I would like to see how big the pictures in the collage gets in reality when zooming in the sheet. Problem is that if I set the height and width to the exact measurements (600X900) and then zoom to 100% the total collage size will be much more then 600mm width on my screen (same with the height). How do I solve this?

2. Settings for resolution and color mode. How do I know what resolution to chose? Do I need the highest possible? Same with color mode, is RGB 8bit enough?

3. When saving the collage, should I save it as a jpg-file? The pictures that I use in the collage are jpg’s. Or will I lose quality and should save it in another format?

Photoshop :: The File/Open Settings

May 23, 2008

The default appearance of my File/Open and File/Save window has changed, and I neither know how nor do I know how to change it back.

The problem is that when I File/Save, it would open the File/Save window and display the folders/files by in a List (vs Thumbnail, Detail, etc.) by Name, which is what I desire.

But, somehow that changed. When I open the File/Save (or File/Open) window, the display is now in a List (which is prefered) by Date with the most recent at the top. This is definitely not my preference and is a setback to certain tasks I do.

I reset my defaults by doing alt-ctrl-shift upon start-up, but that has not affected my File/Save-File/Open window.

how to get back to where I was before? I am somewhat desparate for this fix and have no idea how it changed. So, heck, if anyone knows certain keystrokes I might have inadverdently hit that affected the change in the first place, I'd love to know what they are do I don't duplicate them!

I am on Photoshop CS3.

When I split the image into two slices and choose Slices: Selected Slices in the Save Optimized As Dialog, PS does it right, and saves the slice as "[documentname]_50". But ofcourse i don't want to save slices, but the whole image.
