AutoCad :: SAVEAS Looses File Name When Saving Through Shortcut Key

I have a folder on a my desktop with shortcuts to my active projects in my company's network. When I run SAVEAS in AutoCAD, I browse for the respective file using the shortcuts folder. However, the file name is now changing to the name of the shortcut folder. For example, a file is named PreliminaryPlat.dwg. I want to SAVEAS PreliminaryPlat.dwg in P:/111-05-02/Plats. Rather than go through hundreds of folders in the P:/ drive, I click on a shortcut in a FOLDER on my desktop for P:/111-05-02/Plats. When I run the SAVEAS in AutoCAD, the window is prompting me to save the drawing as P:/111-05-02/Plats. I found this error happens when I SAVEAS using a folder shortcut.

I have a map of town area, because i need to color some area (and use see through color) i needed to make this in autocad 2011, because in 2004 i cant do this. Ok, but when i want to make an image (dwg to jpg) it looses transparency??
How can i just paint one area of map, make it transparency (see through) and than save it as an image file (jpg, png or whatever).

When i use standard Acad-functions or even simply select an object like a polyline from land-survey,the "ribbon" changes to the corresponding Topic of the object,and the Map3D window looses its focus. (normal windows-mouse-cursor is displayed, not the AutoCAD crosshair). After clicking in Map 3D window again, crosshair reappears,and work can continue.
It doesn't matter if Map3d-windows is in windowed mode or fullscreen,it also doesn't matter if the windows is only on one of my 2 monitors or on both.
didn't have this problems using Topobase Client 2009,2010,2011...but since 2012 few problems evolved... (drawing-order-bug, memory-leak problem etc. etc.)

Inventor Pro 2010, XP Pro SP3, Compaq nw9440 laptop with NVIDIA FX 1500 VIDEO. why tools added to Quick Access Toolbar will disappear. they were here yesterday, gone today. I've reset them to see if I can duplicate the problem.

I had my automatic save set up for every 10 minutes but files were not being saved regularly. I deleted files from the Temp folder thinking it was full and now there are no .sv$ saving at all. How can I make drawings save automatically every 10 minutes?

Does Saveas really need to be case sensitive. I just spent a lot of time trying to figure out why my addin wasn't working and all that was wrong is I had a capital P on png.

I have a student that downloaded and installed the 2013 student version of AutoCAD. She then opened a drawing we were working on in class (2012 standard version) and continued to work at home. She is able to save that drawing by clicking the save button on the Quick Access toolbar, however she is unable to "Saveas" that drawing to a different name or different release. The dialog box resets the file name to a file path on her C drive as soon as you move the mouse.
The same thing happens when she goes to make a block - she can type a block name in the window, but as soon as the mouse moves, the name changes to a block name already in the list.

I want to force a saveas from an external app using code as below:-

However, Inventor invariably crashes at this point - especially if panning a model. Is there a way I can either lock Inventor from the user whilst the save is happening or check that no mouse or keyboard activity is in use?
I have tried monitoring the status bar text for "Ready" but tihs is unreliable.

I have a bit of code that batch processes from a template drawing. It all works fine until I get to the SaveAs() function. I have narrowed down the problem to have something to do with the drawing starting and saving in a paperspace layout. When I run the code with the template saved in model space it works fine but whe the current tab is a paperspace layout I get an error during the saveas() function "eInvalidInput"
I am using VS2008 and Autocad 2011. Is there a difference in saving with a paperspace layout current?

Is there a way to retrieve the fileversion in the Database.BeginSave event when the user has choosen like version 2004 in the default SAVEAS command?
I only found the OriginalFileVersion and LastSaveAsVersion property, however I have to add something in the database for version 2004 before it is saved. Or is there another approach?

I am facing problem with SaveAs API which is when called to save the top drawing of one or above level structure we don’t receive call back for “SaveComplete” event. When we call SaveAs API, it is expected to receive first call back for BeginSave event and then SaveComplete event. But we don’t receive the call back for SaveComplete event.Below is the scenario:
Create a drawing say, “TopDrawing” and attach another drawing (as xRef) say “ChildDrawing” to the “TopDrawing”.
Save the drawings.Now modify the “ChildDrawing”.After this we are using following SaveAs API for the “TopDrawing”.

Observations: After using this API we receive call back for “BeginSave” event. But we are not receiving call back for “SaveComplete” event.Due to this we are not able to save the TopDrawing after the modification of its reference. Expected Results:
We should receive call back to SaveComplete following to the call back for BeginSave event in order to save the structure correctly. What needs to be done if I want to get result as I am expecting after using SaveAS API.Also provide me the information about the libraries which are used for SaveAs function.

I am having trouble with my PScs6 wherein the layered doc I am working on looses it's link to the source file within the smart object "container" layers refering to it. I opened up a saved version from timemachine and the same thing happened. At the same time ALL the masks all went nuts and presented with lined artifacts instead of white (in the case of adjustment clipped layers to the smart object. The original file was not moved to a new location or deleted. I closed PS6 and reopened to find the problem did not go away. It started when I used the rotate tool to do some fine work on the smart object's mask with brush and wand. I was using the fill command to fill the wanded areas in the mask. I believe it was a problem with the rotate tool because it became more and more jerky and resizing over 100% caused the image within the smart object to dissappear on all layers using that source image in the doc. PS6 has been buggy and crashing more frequently recently in general, especially after using plugins that have worked flawlessly for years. I run a macbook pro with snow leopard. 10.6.8
this one show the smart object now emptied of it's source image after using the rotate (R) tool for a while and zooming in over 100%..this one shows the mask artifacts (on the topmost "wash" layer mask) that also developed after using the rotate (R) tool for a while and zooming in over 100%.

I created an image using live trace and saved it as a ".ai" file. I thought that saving it like this would allow to have the same quality in After Effects. However the After Effects image looks pixilated. I am still new to both programs. Attached are two images, one from After Effects and the other from Illustrator.

I'm putting together a simple lisp routine to issue bound, purged drawings.
I have code that will do the binding & purging but need handling the saving.
This is my approach :
(1) ask the user to save the drawing using this line (command "_saveas" "" "~")
(2) run a subroutine that binds xrefs etc (this works ok)
(3) run the QSAVE command
Trouble is, if the user cancels or hits escape during the SAVEAS command the subroutine & QSAVE will still run, overwriting the current drawing. How do I handle this scenario? Or should my appoach be different?

Is there a way to add a keyboard shortcut or marking menu shortcut for visibility? It would be really convenient to be able to shift-click several objects and toggle the visibility of them. I have a mouse with numerous buttons that are mapped to commonly used IV features, but I cannot find a way to map a visibility toggle.

I'm linking an excel file to an .ipt file with iLogic code determining if the Material type is a certian value it will find the correct material thickness. These file work great when working on them thru Vault but when I "Save As Template" and create this file where our other template files are located (not Vault) this fuction does not work. I have realized that I had to place the a copy of the excel file in the same file folder as the template ipt, but even this does not fix the issue.
I recieve this error:
Error in rule: Material, in document: Part6
'MWW Materials (Inventor).xlsx' could not be found. Check the spelling of the file name, and verify that the file location is correct.
If you are trying to open the file from your list of most recently used files, make sure that the file has not been renamed, moved, or deleted.
It seems completly countintutive that just saving the file as a template file would cause this not to work when all files that are required are located in the same file folder. Maybe I need a reference to the excel document within the iLogic code.

I have a data shortcut file where i keep my EG surface that now has File Name.dwg [DS] [DS] [DS] [DS]. What's the deal? Has this managed to morph itself into something it's not. It used to have only one, had two for awhile, and now 4 references to the DS (Datashort cut project folder).
Have I done something wrong here to get these wonky file names, would be nice to see just 1 reference being made to my DS Project folder.

So I'm using a script that I wrote to bring in files that were converted from CorelDraw to EPS (this is the best conversion process to preserve text and drawing assets). Basically the script takes the art in the EPS, groups it, places a rectangular border around the art and centers them. We do this so that they come into InDesign correctly sized. The problem is, it used to be 100% automated, just about, however now the saveas action command will not remember that "Save as PDF Compatible" needs to be set to true. When I do a saveas command, it's check by default, but when the saveas command is batched, it does NOT do it that way. When I try to bring batched AIs into InDesign, it's text that says it was not saved as PDF Compatible. Am I going to have to script a save function to get control of the saveas settings? I don't understand why PDF compatible is checked by default, yet batching saveas saves as if it unchecked it.

I am trying to put together a lisp routine for exporting a Civil3D drawing to basic autocad entities and convert it to a clients layer standards.
I don't want any user input, so I see two problems with the routine at the moment.
Step 2. SAVEAS - I want the drawing to be saved in the same directory as the current drawing, either called "CLIENT_export.dwg" or preferably "Export_{current drawing name}.dwg". If the dwg exists I want it either to overwrite or increment a suffix number.
Step 4. At the moment it askes the user for a selection, I want it to select "ALL"

Do you want to save changes in shortcut file before resetting shortcuts? I get this whenever I go, window, workspace, and bring back my workspace.
I have NO IDEA what is means or what to choose. I always choose dont save, because if I choose save, then a save dialogue box comes up, and I'm wondering, why such a big ordeal going on here. I just want my workspace back, why should I be saving something everytime I just want my old workspace corrected?

am having an Issue with CS6 when saving files. When saving a file using the 'Save' option (not 'Save As') the file is not staying at the size of the artboard as it should, it is however being aurtomatically cropped down to the actual artwork size. This is causing issues with the Process we work with as we need the file to stay at the artboard size.If I click 'Save As' and change the Adobe PDF Preset to 'Press Quality' then this works, however this means that every file we save(which is quite alot in a day) means we have to go through the 'Save As' option and manually change each save.why this has suddenly started to happen with our Illustrators and do you know how to fix this so that it stays at the Artboard size when 'Save' is used?

Background info:
We got several image files every 2 weeks which should be edited and mainly reduced in size for web purpose. This work needs 1 work day for one man/woman to do, because he/she has to open the file save for web and then set the quality to a value were the file is nearly about 150-200 KB in size.
The images are different, some have few colors, some have a lot of colors and there are also different in resolution. But they should not be reduced in resolution, only in quality. All other specs of the image should be kept
Is there any possible script, plug-in or similar which can do the same (Saving with a specific max. file size) in some automatic and faster way?

Open an .AI file saved on a netapp or windows shared directory with full permissions (prior to saving I noted that all security groups are intact in file properties as we have 2 for read and write access)Make any changesTry to save and get the prompt: Can’t save preview, but all other information was saved successfully. The file couldn’t be found. ID = -43 (file is now corrupted and looking in security group file properties the 2 security groups designated for read and write access for the directory is now gone and shows an unknown security group????)

I was able to open the file fine on Windows Illustrator CS5.5 make a slight change and resaved (which fixed the file and opens again in OS X and read/write security groups show up again?)Optionally, I was also able to fix the file to where I could open it in OS X by simply giving myself Read/Write access to the file from Get Info
Notes:No issues with the same file in 10.7.x.
I've tested on all available Mac Pro / MacBook Pro machines and issue doesn't seem to happen on MacBook Pro retina?Photoshop and InDesign not affected

When I bring up n image file from a folder and after I work on it I would like to save in another folder other than from the original download file which is the only choice I seem to get.
Is there way to designate a "default" folder for saving other than having to continually search for the folder I wish to save to?
