View 9 RepliesWhen I create drawings, I generally have quite a few layout tabs. Also, thse tabs are numbered 1 through to N. On many occasions, a revision or addition may be necessary and it may have to be inserted in between two existing tabs. Doing so is not a problem, however, keeping the numbering sequence in order without having to rename every tab in that file is a problem.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a drawing with loads of images on it. All I want to do is print the image name so instead of a picture showing it should say "banana.jpg" or whatever the image name is.
I've tried unloading the images and plotting, but nothing happens.
We recently made the switch from R14 to 2000. In the LONG process of trying to figure out plotting in 2000, I ended up having a lot of plotter names to select from when I go to plot. We have 2 HP 450C plotters and 2 printers (HP5000N & HP 1220C) and I only have one pc3 file for each on the server. I want to nknow how to remove some of the plotter names from ACAD and have only the 2 plotters and 2 printers to choose from when you go to plot.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI get several dwg's a day with up to 40 layouts in each one. All the settings are correct ACCEPT the plotter. Is there a way to set all page setups for all layouts at the same time? Something like select all layouts and do a page setup for all. Possibly with LISP or VBA?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI want to export the layers names to Excel, as I used in VBA. I'm using AutoCAD 2011 (64b), VB Express 2010, Office 2003 (32b). I ran this routine in XP 64b and W7 64 with the same problem.
No problem in building the DLL, or loading it to AutoCAD. When running the command, Excel opens, but no workbook is created and I get this Unhandled exception error:

I need to export 3dpolylines from C3D 2013 to an ERSI SHP file.
Using the mapexport command I’m able to do this, however, the lines in the shp file don’t retain the layer name and colours that are in the C3D file.
Do I need assign ‘object data’ (or something similar) to the 3D polylines before exporting the shp file.
We have, since moving to 2012 had an issue with our standard Named Page Setups in our DWT file staying assigned to the layout tabs. When you click up to plot a dwg... the Page Setup Name indicating that the Named Page Setup assigned to the plot configuration dialog box says <None>. Even if you click in the drop down and select a setup... the name selected shows as selected after the box colapses... but then a split second later, the box defaults back to <None>.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to export multiple layout tabs to create individual CAD files at one time? I have a CAD file with 80 layout tabs. All the Drafting work was done on Paper Space of the Layout Tabs. Client wants 80 separate CAD files.
I tried right clicking on the layout tab but it will ONLY allow me to export one tab at a time.
I have a single column of copy in illustrator and at the end of each line is a page number that is tabed to that point, looks fine but when I print to PDF they come out crocked, even saved the Illustrator copy and droped it into a photoshop file, and still shows up croocked?

Occasionally, clicking the Model or other layout tab results in no action, as if I'm not clicking on it.
All other controls (within and external to C3D) function normally so it's not a mouse hardware issue.
It will usually correct itself if I "restore down" the main application window, then maximize it again.
The -layout command is a workaround too.
Is there a way to copy the names of all the fonts I have listed in X-5 so that I can print the list?
I want to be able to check some things off the list and add other fonts to the list.
I tried opening the font list and highlighting to copy it to a clipboard.
I've exported in all supported vector file formats, and it seem that only SVGsupports object name (and data)... however, I can't use SVG at the moment.
Is there a way to export all objects using a macro?I need in plain ascii: layer and object names, and maybe object data.
I'm looking for a simple format, no transform matrices (as in SVG).
Something like this:
Layername: Layer 1Object type: Rectanglename: rectoutline: 1mmpos: 100.000, 100.000size: 100.000, 100.000rotation: 0.000Object type: Ellipsename: circleoutline: 1mmpos: 100.000, 100.000size: 100.000, 100.000rotation: 0.000Layername: Layer 2Object type: Curvename: Curveoutline: 1mmstart: 100.000, 100.000lineto: 200.000, 200.000bezierto: XY1, XY2, XY3, XY4end
I have a hard drive published service configured in Publishing Manager that creates JPGs of any images that are placed into that published service. For the most part all the settings I specify on that service are adhered to when I "publish now". However one setting appears to be ignored and that is File Naming | Rename To:.
In the configuration of that option in Publishing Manager I have the rename to option set to "Filename - Sequence". When this option is set the example text it states at the bottom of file naming displays what I expect it be on output. However, when I "publish now" the file exports but with the original file name of the photo. Let me explain further. Typically when I've fully processed the photo I use the Lightroom file rename option to rename the file from the orginal import name to something more descriptive.
This seems to work fine with both the information in LR and the actual file name being correctly displayed. Even when I select the file for publishing the example file name show matches the new name after rename. However, the actual file generated always as the original imported file name. This happens for all files.
I'm using LR 5.2 on Windows 8.1.
I'm in the process of creating 3D points (as an overlay) on some laser scanned data (using RiScan, it's just 3d dimensional data, with a northing, easting and RL) and unfortunately the only export option is to export to .dxf... Which is fine but when I export, the information has the point ID as the layer name.
I am aiming at getting this data into another program to analyse and it needs the point ID or name to be my annotation, as opposed to the layer.
So what I need is a way of converting the names of each individual points layer, to the point ID.
can you export layers with the layer names to separate jpeg files?
I have a photoshop psd file with many layers that I want to export to separate files with the new name of the files being the same as their layer name. I have the following programs:
Using Photoshop CS4?
Using Photoshop Elements 7?
Using Photoshop Elements 12 (Trial)
Tell me the difference between using the print command to create a pdf and using the export to pdf command? advantages, disadvantages, etc? I'm finding that they act very differently when it comes to saving over an existing pdf file.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am plotting a layout with several viewports as a PDF, and the viewports are not plotting as displayed. Everything else on the layout plots perfectly.
I've attached two pictures:
1) asdisplayed.jpg is what I want
2) pdfoutput.jpg is what is outputed. As you can see the lines are (1) greyed + (2) do not have the lineweight I desire.
1) asdisplayed:
2) pdfoutput:
Here are my settings:
1) Plot style table: acad.ctb. I modified the Color 250 to be completely black so that text would be black. I've set the color for every object in modelspace to color 250 as well (no dither).
2) Plotter: DWG to PDF.pc3
3) Paper size: ANSI expand B
4) Plot scale: 1:1
5) Plot object lineweights: checked!
6) Plot with plot styles: checked!
7) Plot paperspace last: checked!
8 ) "Shade plot" setting for viewports: all set to "as displayed"
9) All viewports set to "Hidden" visual style
NOTE: I've noticed changing to visual style to 2D wireframe or using isolines tends to output exactly as displayed (keeps the lineweight + the black color / not greyed out. I need to use the hidden visual style for my purposes.
Also I always get the option to update shading plots for viewports and I've clicked both options - both get same results of the modified viewports.
I accidentally included a file rename when I just imported a batch of several hundred pictures. I violated a rule that I teach my own Lightroom students, and that is to look carefully at the import panel choices before proceeding.
How can I correct this so that the files are named as they originally were? I know how to easily fix the filenames in Windows (using a tool called BulkRename, for example), but then I'd have to "find" each image one-by-one and correctly point to the renamed version. I tried selecting all the images and then using F2 to rename, but none of the templates allow deleting a portion of the filename.
P.S. Here is an example of what I mean:
ON CARD:
IMG_0001.NEF
...
IMG_0300.NEF
WHAT I RENAMED TO ACCIDENTALLY:
IMG_0001 {shot by John Doe}.NEF
...
IMG_0300 {shot by John Doe}.NEF
Following instructions from Autodesk as to how to install the Raster driver for image exports I installed "plotters" for JPEG, TIFF, BMP and PNG. None of them work. When I try to one of them, the result is a blank file about 39KB in size.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've run into a small problem while trying to export a drawing from paper space as a PDF. The drawing is of an electrical panel for a product. The panel is rather large, but the drawing includes some smaller details, such as a vendor logo on a component or a few extra lines on the border of a display screen. We have a large, multi page PDF file that uses A4 paper size that I need to insert this drawing into, so the export must be at this size. When exporting, I have CAD set to use monochrome and ignore the line weights, which solved my initial problem that the parts would show up as solid black splotches.
Now that the back story is over, here's the problem. When I export the pdf, everything looks great except these small details around the components. For some reason, the lines in the components will shift to one side or the other, causing breaks between features. Most of these breaks occur between an arc endpoint and a line endpoint. The export also excludes some smaller bits of geometry.
Reading the Help document it says that transparency in a document is rendered as a bitmap when printing because PostScript can't handle it. This is also the case when exporting to certain file formats.
Isn't there a better solution to this? There are some truly magnificent tools in Xara and I'm sure this means that the technology is there to render documents in a suitable form when printing and exporting.
I've just tried to get a simple logo using some flat transparency from Xara into a Microsoft product and the transparent parts have given me big headaches as I want a true vector solution. The only way I found to work was going via Adobe Illustrator. If Illustrator can do it then why can't Xara? Isn't there some way that Xara can analyse the parts with transparency and create new vector objects where possible?
How does everyone else handle this - do you all simply ignore the transparency tool and work without it?
I have created a typographic world map in illustrator. So nearly every major city, country, and body of water have been typed out using the type tool. I usually export out of illustrator with a set dimension (say 16 x 20in) @ 500 ppi jpeg for great quality. I did this with this map to test it out before selling. It came back from the printing company looking quite pixelated. Photos are perfect for that workflow, but I didn't think about needing to read those little villages in greenland. So although you can tell what it is (a map with cities & such), 90% of the map is unreadable. exporting this thing differently so that everything would be ledgible just like maps are in textbooks? I tried making it 40in wide and set the ppi to 1500 (haha) with tiff output which would make it a monster but illustrator crashes and I'm not sure a printer can even print that.
View 1 Replies View Related I need to turn this book of files into a pdf for Createspace and the print book dialog in the book panel doesn’t show me the pdf/x-1a 2001 preset. It gives me a default or I can create one myself. The printer selected is Adobe PDF. The file menu only applies to the active, single document, not a book, and while it does list Adobe PDF Presets I cannot apply them to the whole book, only the active, single file.
I found that I can save the preset I need out of the presets dialog but I can’t load it into the print presets to use for outputting the book as a pdf.
My installation was just updated, but still doesn’t show what some videos show should be there.
I copied all the settings from the preset I need but the print dialog doesn't let me create such a preset for a book, and the Export to PDF for a book is for interactive pdf and doesn't allow such presets at all.
I have a 156 page book with graphics, composed of 8 chapter files. If I have to combine all these into one id file to do this, is there a good way to do that without enormous labor? In that other book I created for createspace I didn't have to do that, but I can't figure out how I exported it to pdf/x 1a 2001
My end goal is to have a PDF image that is 13in(h) x 19in(w).
Image / Print Size is exactly 13x19. However, when I print to a PDF printer, and set the page size within the Print Preferences to Custom 13x19, I still get a much larger page than the image is.
I see message boards say to use File / Page Setup and select a Custom Print size. I do not see this as an option.
I've tried saving to PNG and then opening in other programs, but it makes the image much larger, and it affects the set-up.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've been struggling with the color management in CorelDraw X5 for awhile. I usually just design blind and check the print out or exported images after the fact to see if they're how I initially intended. The image above is exactly how the design looks in Draw.
This next image is how it looks when I print it out or when I export it to a JPG or PSD or other bitmap.
I've been researching for awhile on the color management and have tried many many varieties. I'm still not sure what the deal is. If it was my monitor or drivers I don't think I would be getting the result I want after I export the image, although I haven't tried updating the driver yet.
Below is my current configuration.
