AutoCad :: Personalize Favourites List By Each Individual User

Is it possible to alter the favourites list in AutoCAD so it can be personalised by each individual user.
When you CTRL + O or click open on the toolbar, the Open dialogue box will open with a favourites list on the left. Now, when I add a new folder to that list, every user on a different computer will also see that new directory. I would like to make it so everyone could have their on list without it being altered by anyone but that user!

How can i add an item to a Multi-Value-List of an existing User Parameter in Inventor2012 (Accessing API with Visual Basic) ?
My idea is for example:
uParams.Item(i).ExpressionList.AddItem(As String)
The problem is, that such a function "AddItem" doesn't exist.

Is it possible to export content centre favourites?
I have a number of parts marked as favourites from our custom CC library. I have created folders and sub folders for the various items, nuts, bolts, washer, steel sections and piping parts and would ideally like to be able to export the setup in much the same way as exporting the 'Application Options'Â out to a XML file. This can then be imported into other machines creating a list of favourites for all users.

I have a list function that asks for the user to pick points when it is run. It looks something like this (foo arg1 arg2)Â When invoked it asks the user to pick points and press enter when done It.
Instead of getting the points from the user i want to pass it a list of pre-defined points. The code cannot be changed so I must use it as is.Is this possible, if so how can it be done?

When we select File -> Open we’re presented with an Adobe designed file browser that has the files and folders on the right and a vertical bar of ‘Common Tasks’ )or Favourites) on the left. Is there a way to customize these ‘Common Tasks’? CS4 references a ‘My Documents’ folder location which is incorrect. I moved those files to a different location and I’d like to see where I can tell PS about this change. It would also be nice to add more convenient ‘Favorites’ and remove those I have no need for.

I've just installed corel draw home and student X6. But I can't manage the size of the reactive buttons in the tools menus. When I click on "tools" I don't have access to "personalization" as I should according to the notice. Therefore I can't enlarge the size of the menu.

I'm building a script that will open a dialog box allowing the user to select a font family from a drop down list (not a list of all of the fonts), and then compare that value against the fonts that are in use, highlighting everything that doesn't match. I have not yet built the dialog, but I've got everything else working as I want except the list of font families.

The following code loops through the list of fonts (only 20 for testing purposes), compares the family name to the previous on the list (error trapped for the first loop), and pushes the family name (if it doesn't match the previous) into an array which will be used in the dialog box. With the two alerts at the bottom (for troubleshooting), I expect the alerts to show the same family name. For the first three fonts they do, but after that the array value is "undefined."Â

1) Any speculation on why this behavior is happening (it isn't truetype versus opentype)?

When it reaches the ninth font in the list, the above script starts writing undefined, but when tested manually, as below, it works fine. Hmmm.

After getting Vault installed on our server and successfully setting up users and connections, I used the Library Transfer Guide to move our Content Center (including custom) to the Vault. I then changed the Inventor Application Options -> Content Center -> Access Options to Autodesk Vault Server.
This seems to have worked, as I can Place from Content Center when in an assembly, and it is pulling standard content as well as our custom files properly from the vault. Â However, in the instructions that I used for the installlation, it was suggested to stick with a standard folder structure within the Vault, namely two Library Folders named 'Content Center Files' and 'Libraries' and also a regular folder named 'Designs'.
 I created those folders prior to transferring the library, as I thought they would be populated with the standard/custom content. This was not the case and I am curious when these folders come into play? *they are empty*
Also, today I will be attempting to 'Check In' a project to the Vault that I recently completed; does this usually maintain structural relationships between files?
Would you recommend using a single project structure in vault for two people? It seems, since we won't be working on the same project at the same time, having a single project would not be relavant to our situation..

Is there a way to modify the DEFAULT SCALE LIST to show a metric scale list in an imperial template? I mean, I start a drawing using the imperial template, but i want to use the standard metric scales on paper space. on previous versions the scale list shown both imperial & metric. Now it depends of what the template is using.

I use a setup with Shader List (Volume) with two mists. One regular and one to blur out the horizon. After working on the scene for some time I notice that the shader list now contains eight copies of the last shader. I think I would remember if I did that. So, whats up with the shader list?

I have been given a set of plans by a client to design a system on. The plans have a lot of layers and information on them that I don't need/want to merge to a base layer. If I click on anything on the plans everything gets select and is layer 0. I originally thought these were just poorly made plans but if I go through the layers in the toolbar and turn them off individually it works.
Its like somehow all the layers have been linked to layer 0 but are actually individual layers .

I have a dxf file that consists of multiple rectangles (filled). I need to keep the X-Y position of each rectangle / entity the same but scale the size of the rectangle.
So for example, scale by -10%. If its a filled rectangle centered at (1,1) size (2,2) I need it to be centered at (1,1) and size (1.8, 1..
DXF is a text file and I can write a piece of VBA code to go through, decode the text, find the rectangles, scale, save the text file back to DXF.

In model space I've created a house plan with layers for Mechanical, Plumbing, Electric, furniture, etc. I've also created in numerous Layouts (paper space) created my view ports of the base plan. I want to turn on/off individual layers in each of those Layouts. How is that done?

There is a layer or I would like to cal it a design which is made up of several different lines. But when I try to select a single line, the whole design gets selected/highlighted instead of a particular line in the design. What is this issue and how to overcome it? Layers are confusing in Autocad
In the top image I tried to select a single string but the whole design is highlighted where as the lower image shows it before selection.

If I don't want to VP Freeze everything on that layer, is there a way to individually VP Freeze certain objects on one layer? (without having to make new layers?)
The sitch: Making a ceiling plan, some dims are needed in all the other plans, but some are not needed in the ceiling plan. How can I simply turn "off" in the VP the few separate Dims I don't need? And that they can still turn up like normal in all the other VPs?

I am trying to change the sizes of markers individually. When I change the marker of one, it changes for all of them. I think this has to do with the point groups. I am able to add all points to a new group but I cant specify which markers i want in that group.

I have Note label Style objects and Marker Style Objects that have layers assigned to them. When I bring a Note label or Marker Style into the drawing, it comes in on the zero layer. I know that the object layers of the drawing settings are controlling this. Is it possible to have the Note labels and/or Markers come in on the assigned layers of their Styles?Â

what switch is it that needs to be changed so that when one opens up multiple drawings, they aren't sitting in the taskbar? Normally, you go to your 'Window' in the menubar to see your populated list.

Gave a set of schematics to a client and they decided they wanted all the wire numbers rotating 90 degrees... In the interest of efficiency, any way I can rotate all the pieces of text at the same time whilst maintaining their individual position rather than selecting a base rotation point (as I have about 400 wire numbers to make my way through ).

was wondering if it's possible to bring in the value of a single Excel cell into a predefined window area in AutoCAD LT 2012? Some of our tool and die calculations are done in Excel, but we only want one cell (equation summary or description) brought into to AutoCAD 2007. If not AutoCAD LT 2007, then what about a more recent version of LT or even full blown AutoCAD?

Here's my background, im in the power transformer business, started as a winder (making the coils) but ended up making the design and drawings of them. Basically coils are cylindrical and we only make a radial cut view of it. Going from the center of the core to the outer most coil. The part list would typically have roughly 80 items for a full phase assembly, we make a drawing of the full assembly, then first winding, second winding, third winding, etc. The way i work right now is with standard drawings giving A, B, C etc dimensions, and when i make the piece for the transformer, i have to input the dimension in the excel part list by hand.
The can i do these things questions..
1-Only way to have individual items listed in the part lists would be with blocks right? The equivalent of inventor i-parts? Each block would have to be named after the item?
2-Can i add mass to the items? this could get complicated since its cylindrical, but in 2d... so i guess some math formulas would have to go in for this, as a cylinder with a diameter of 500, thickness of 5, and height of 1000 for example, would just be represented in the drawing as a rectangle of 5x1000, the diameter is the core center to the cylinder*2 (radial drawing). So the mass would need to take into account that the rectangle goes all the way around an axis.
3-I've played with autocad 2010 parametrics. With the axis as a base, i can enter the diameter of the first cylinder, then the thickness and height of everything that follows, the clearance from bottom and top also and if i change 1 value, everything adjusts to it. BUT can i change the dimensions via an excel sheet? If not, how hard would it be (i know a small bit of visual basic from excel), to make a LISP or VBA menu inside cad where we could enter the dimensions and the whole assembly automatically adjusts?
4-I make a drawing of the full assembly, then demolish it to each individual coils. The equivalent of an inventor .iam, would be xref in autocad? So i can makea coil 1, coil 2, coil 3, interwinding wraps, and then make an xref that would combine all of these into the full assembly? And also i guess if its split into 4 to 5 different drawings, the possible BOM out of there would be much easier to manage.

I would like to use the plot function to generate 3 individual PDFs from a 3-sheet idw in Vault.Requirements:
1. Each PDF needs to be named after a certain field that is already populated in iProperties
2. All PDFs need to be output to a fixed folder in Vault
I have tried some iLogic codes and indeed it is possible to do that from within Inventor. But should we need to print a large number of idws that will be a nightmare for me.
