Someone here at the office started up autocad and the only things that showed up were "File", "Window" and "help" in top menu bar are the only things that show up. Where did the rest of the tools and camands go, and how can I get them back.
I have been working on some pull-down menus. Occasionally when I have the bugs worked out, I will go to the Transfer Tab in the CUI interface and save the pull-down I am working on.
Now all the menus are not showing up in the Transfer pull-down. If you look at the cui-customize-tab.jpg, you will see which menus are shown in the Customize pull-down.
Compare that to the menus shown in the pull-downs in the other 2 attachments. Have I clicked something that I didn't want to click? Is it me? Do these pants make my butt look big?
I am sure i saw that somewhere but how do i get the icons to show back instead of the bare text list of the drop down menus? In the old versions, it was easier to find my way around if i had to change version and the list might not have been in the same order, or if i was making a tutorial and someone had a PSP in a different language; i could just display the icon instead of the name for the other person to be able to identify which tool i was talking about. But in later versions, they are gone. How do i get them back?
I just installed AutoCadLT 2014 on my MAC using Parallels. In my pulldown menus for "Layers" , "Linetypes" , "Colors" etc the words inside and stacked on top of each other and I can only see fragments of the choices. They are also clipped horizontally as well.
How to change the size of the fonts within in these pulldowns and the width of the pulldowns themselves?
I use my own drawing templates with CUI files for layers, dims and notes to scale. Since I've been using LT2012, I've found that the CUI files don't appear in the drawing template. No problems re-loading them but I'd like them in the template if poss. Problem seems originate with LT2012 - didn't experience any difficulties with LT2011.
Last night i closed down my cad as per usual but this morning fired it up and my pulldown menus are missing-file,tools etc. The only one left if ltxpress which has been on my system for months now. I have turned my system off and rebooted but still missing.
I'm working for a new company and have not used AutoCad in some time. We want to be able to "drop in" existing drawings through the use of customized drop drop menus. Is there a tutorial somewhere that shows how to customize the drop down menus and link them to files?
I am using AutoCAD 2012 and I like right click menus.
If I use ctrl + right click, I get a menu with snap options, and if I use shift + right click, I get the same menu. How I can change one of these menus without the other is affected, and perhaps also how to get an alt + right click menu.
I am trying to change my shortcut menus. Instead of modifying the current default mode, I am trying to make a new default mode menu and preserve the original. I have made the new menu and named the aliases POP501 & CMDEFAULT. But, when I right click the mouse, civil 3d still references the original default mode menu. How do I change this?
I realize I am probably using ACA against the way it is meant to be used, but is there a way to get back the linetype and lineweight menus that are on the classic view toolbars but not the ribbon? I just upgraded to 2012 and decided to bite the bullet and just use the ribbon, but it's really just not working out. Unfortunately I only have ACA yet am doing non-architecture work so really need to be able to modify lines without creating a different layer for each type.
I used to have an add-on called Xtabs that would make my drop-down menus (layers, linetypes, etc.) go all the way to the bottom of the screen. In 2013, I changed to interface to classic, so that it looks more like it used to, but the add-on does not appear to be available anymore. Is there a built-in way now to do this?
We installed Civil 3D onto my supervisor's computer, and I can't find the menus. It's like they completely vanished. I set menu bar to 1, and the only menu I get is the Express menu. I don't get any of the other menus (file, alignments, profiles, grading, etc.).
We run 6 seats of Map 3D 2012. We are upgrading computers but want to remain with 2012 for the time being.
Our old machines were 32 bit; the new ones 64 bit. I am having to load the 64 bit version of Map 3D fresh to all the stations (individual; not network)
I have set up custom menus and a preferred workspace on my station some time ago. I don't want to have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
What files do I need to save and how do I access them once I have reinstalled the new version?
I am now running Acad2006 and I cannot seem to find a good instruction tutorial on making Icon menus like I did in R14.
I tried the Palettes menu and was not very impressed, seems to take a dogs age to make one up if you have many, many blocks, and the icons appeared too small?
Is it possible to make up decent Icon menus in the new CUI menu.
I found out you can add your own "commands" to the right click menus. So on the default menu I have added a block that we use a lot, that way I don't have to go to the tool pallet or to the ribbon to get it.
I am getting it to work just fine, mostly. I have gone into the CUI and added a new menu under the Default Menu. I then changed the name to Variable Box, the command name is My Box Thing (this is all testing names), the macro is
The variable_io1a file is where the dynamic block is at and the Equipment_id is some attributes that get insurted after placing the block. We have a standard layer we put the block on and one we put the attributes on. However when I run/use this shorcut menu item it inserts it on what ever layer is current in the drawing. How do I get this shortcut menu item to go in on the layer(s) it was made with and not the current layer of the drawing. I don't know if this is clear what I am doing or not. Everything works like I want it to, it inserts where I pick, it asks where I want the attributes inserted, asks for the 3 lines of text and ends the command. It just goes in on the wrong layer.
One of the designers at our office has problems with what I believe is a missing font. We tried to reinstall Inventor but it did not solve the problem. Then we reinstalled the entire machine but the problem came back. What is the name of the font used in Inventors menus?

Just installed 2014 Civil 3D. In 2013, I had created screen menu layout for Lite Users, where I placed the old Standard and Express Tools Menus along the top of the CAD window, just below the Ribbon. To do this I would Rt. Click in the Grey area (just below the Ribbon and above the CAD window), and then be able to choose menus from the AutoCAD, CIVIL, or EXPRESS menu groups.
In 2014, when I Rt.Clk. in the same area, I'm not given a way to select menus to add - as in 2013.
Is there another way to manually load the Standard AutoCAD and Express menus to the screen, in addition to the Ribbon, etc?
Lately, whenever Civil 3D crashes, my menus and ribbons would freeze, but my command line still works. It's like the entire user interface locks up. I'm able to workaround the problem by rebooting the computer and then recovering any drawings I had open at the time of the crash.

I finally cleared enough space on my creaky old PC to install 2013 and once again am having trouble with that CUI.
The ribbon is useless to me, partly because it contains nothing relevent (most of the commands I use are legacy) and partly because this creaky PC can't handle it. My usual workspace is set to toolbars (some custom) and menus.
I exported my workspace from 2012 including all the menus and toolbars.
I imported that cuix file into 2013. Everything is there listed as it should be, but when I select the workspace and click apply I have neither toolbars nor menus showing (well I have a tiny toolbar with just new, open and save on it, and another that appears to be related to survey, but none of the ones I want or need.)
What do I have to do to get my menus and toolbars back? they haven't abolished them completely? This PC cannot handle the ribbon and my every request for an upgrade is denied due to politics.
I have an eye problem Macular Dystrophy) that requires the CUI Menus and dialog boxes to be made larger. Changing the customizing windows fonts do not increase the size of anything. I am still using AutoCAD 14 through virtual XP but want to use Autodad 2011 and can't get it to change so I can read the CUI.
I loaded a partial customization file by CUI dialog. I would like to programmatically hide / show the menus and toolbars, so when you restart AutoCAD to be permanently hidden or visible.
Created some pulldowns and icons to go along with the new commands. Put the cui files on the server for everyone. Question is ... How/Can I make the icons go with them. Are they associated with the CUI automatically. Guy at work is running MEP and everyone else is running plan old cad. They are not showing up on his. Is there a way I can fix this?
How best to take icons from the tool palettes into the ribbon menu ?
I am currently going through the laborious process of moving my company tool palette commands into ribbon format.....it would be great to find a quick way to grab our custom icons from the palette and use them in the ribbon.
I've been trying to update a client menu and I've gotten most things figured out. They have a fairly elaborate routine set up to make sure our drawings work with their document control system as well as raster design. We are using AutoCAD 2011 and the menu's were meant for 2008.
Everything seems to run well except at this sub module and every time I load a raster drawing with a TIF the routine error's out at the line in Red below. I've tried everything I can think of to keep the routine running, and I want to refrain from just remarking it out, which seems to do the trick, but I do not want to do that unless it's for some other purpose. I just need to get their menus to work on newer versions of AutoCAD.
