View 9 RepliesIf I'm in the layout view, I want to add a Title Border. All of my layout previews are default in Landscape. When I use the Title Border (via the ribbon) and go thru the options, it seems that my only choice is a A4 PORTRAIT border with title block.
Now my preference is to use a landscape orientation, but I can't get it to work yet.
I haven't used AutoCAD for seven years and when I did use it, it was for mechanical engineering purposes. Now I am using AutoCAD LT for architectural reasons. I've signed up to my local night school to get back into things.
I am making a location plan for a planning permission application to the local authority. I bought a 4 hectare or so location plan from the Ordinance Survey. I've drawn in the location of the proposed building and changed the relevant site boundaries to red and blue.
Now I want to use two layout tabs with a drawing border at a scale of 1:1250 and 1:1500 respectively. The existing scales appear to be in imperial units.
How can I change this?
I created a photo with text in CS6 and imported it into LR 4.4 as a jpg but the black border on the left and right does not show, only the top and bottom? I need the overall image to be landscape 9.45 W by 7.45 T to fit into a specific presentation folder.

If I open paint shop X5 the paper edges can be seen behind the image but if you look at the enclosed screen print you can see paper edges are not visible in paint shop pro X6.

I would like to add more to the white background to make it bigger without having to stretch it and distort the image.
I want to place a circle shaped outline border around the original image with a set border thickness and color and be able to crop/remove the portion of the image beyond the outline, changing it from a square/rectangle image to a circular image.
If I am not able to change the drawing to have a round outer border from square, how can I make the outer parts past the newly created circular outline transparent?

What's everyone's take on locking down viewports?
I always do. It irritates me to no end when i'm moving about in a layout and accidently click into model space and screw up a viewport that is not locked down.

Each time I make changes in the "Customize User Interface" dialog box, when I press OK or Apply, my previously docked tool bars get moved off to the side & I have to reposition everything again. "Lock Location - docked toolbars" is checked.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI had been using AutoCAD 2012 x64 w/SP1 for quite a few months with no issues. A week or two ago I went to open a drawing and the program locked up. I tried opening AutoCAD via the desktop shortcut and directly from acad.exe and it locks up immediately. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling 2012, but the issue persisted. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling without any service packs. I normally don't use Windows Update and hadn't downloaded any updates prior to these issues, but I did it to see if it would fix the issue and it did not. I uninstalled 2012 and installed AutoCAD 2011 x64 only to have the same exact issue. I have an old version, AutoCAD 2002 that works fine, but my job always receives drawings not saved in 2000, and my convert tool sometimes fails to convert them to a version I can open. A friend of mine pointed me to this thread here: URL.... I am using Windows 7 x64 on a somewhat up to date PC that I built myself.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have an issue with Sheet Set Manager Locking the .dst file to one user, others can only open the file read only.
I am working on a network that uses Linux.
I have been using sheetset manager for several years and think its great but this causes a problem on large projects that need to have multiple users.
The below is an interesting link that i have recently become aware of but it doesnt say whether this fixed the issue or not.

I have this problem logged with Autodesk but I have not got anything definitive.
This issue has been an irritant for a few days and today is almost constant. When I do a quicksave the program hangs up and I get a Program Not Responding message. The panels all go white and the desktop is ghosted like there is a film across the screen and I have to wait 2-3 or more minutes for things to resolve.

We have a client that wants to recieve AutoCAD documents for the construction documents that our office has prepared. In the past, on other projects with this client, they have altered our AutoCAD drawing files and reissued them out to bid. This is becoming a legal matter, but I am asking, is there a way that the AutoCAD drawing file can be saved that will 'lock' the file so that it can not be altered?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue that appeared this morning when I woke up and turned my computer on... My AutoCAD 2012 (full) is locking up on certain things:
-When I select something without a command on (free selecting) it selects the items fine, but when I press the ESCAPE button to deselect everything there is a 1-2 second pause and then it deselects everything, instead of it instantly happening as it did for the past, oh I dunno, 10 years.
-If I select the items then type the command, normally it would instantly start that command with the items I had selected. Now, after selection items, when I type the command, it pauses for 1-2 seconds and the runs the command as usual.
-I am trying to edit an AutoCAD table, normally this is as smooth as butter. Now, not only are the same issues mentioned above happening, when I go to edit a cell, the typing has a 1-2 second delay and then starts. Once I start editing one box, it will move to the next cell smoothly. But if I click outside the box to end editing, there is a 1-2 second pause.
Last night, I randomly thought, "Oh, I'll run my McAfee virus scan because I haven't for a long time", literally I don't remember the last time I ran that. I also thought, "Oh, I might as well run the Dell PC Checkup scan", this is a factory program that came on the computer that again, I can not remember the lst time this was ran. Both scans went through Full Scans and found ZERO issues. The PC Checkup found one issue on an external hard drive that I use for BACK UP ONLY, I was not concerned with this because I figured it was either just an issue in the connection or between the 2 softwares. Also I wasn't concerned with it because if it does fail, it's a backup drive only anyway, so I'd just replace it.
For some reason my computer is the only one in my office that is doing this. Whenever something is put on the def points layer I am unable to select it afterwards.
Such things have been:
1) The viewport in paperspace. The view cannot be resized but I can still click inside the viewport and work without problem.
2) Any line, block, etc made or put on that layer.
From what I've read others are saying is your layer 0 locked or frozen? It is not. Also in my layers manager nothing is turned off to make it any different from any other layer.
My properties button has quit picking viewports. When I pick the viewport outline, my properties dialog box say's "no selection" Sometimes I get a blank dialog box and have to repick the viewport to get the dialog box to give me information. However, it will not give me the information to set viewbox scale, or will not let me lock the modelspace area so that I can zoom without altering my scale setting. Is there a setting that has gotten changed or what. A week ago the command was working fine.

View 9 Replies View Related(AutoCAD 2008 ) I have many polylines that have been splined so many times that they have a ton of vertices, so many that my program stops working when I click on the line. I have begun to draw new lines to get rid of the slow, horrible lines, but I have come to a problem. How do I get rid of the old lines if I can't click on them without my program locking up?
I can't just turn their respective layers off because I have important things on the layers, and it would be a humongous hastle, not to mention the fact that I like a clean file with no random layers that just sit there never used.

“Locking” the layers state (turned on/of frozen/thawed/ locked/unlocked, etc.) in the viewport,
I’m wondering if there is a technique that allows locking the “state” of layers (turned on/of frozen/thawed/ locked/unlocked, etc.) in the viewport mode such that the viewport will keeps its required state REGARDLESS THEIR STATE IN THE MODEL MODE!
For example, in the screenshot below, freezing the point in the model mode will also freeze them in the viewport! And thus the layer state are not kept as required in the viewport which adds more efforts.
One possible option is saving the layer state! But this feature is not a property for the viewport but needs to be selected from the layers option. And thus we need again to think about layers that are supposed to be turned on/of frozen/thawed/ locked/unlocked, etc. in a particular viewport.
What I need here is to LOCK the viewport not only in terms of scale but also regarding the state of layers!

As a simple first attempt, I am trying to create a dcl with a button called "draw test line" that will draw a line from 0,0 to 1,1. The lisp loads correctly and the "cancel" button works fine. However when the "draw test line" button is pressed, autocad locks up and the only solution is to restart. here is the dcl
