Aug 8, 2005

Is there a lisp routine or macro out there that will convert crappy text to a set block? i.e someone had used simplex 15' text for street names, we now have a street name block using romans 12' text. want to be able to click on text and convert to block while converting the text street name to the street name entry. there's only one entry for the street name block.

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Macro Block Inserts And Layers

Jul 10, 2013

Im currently creating a custom menu to insert blocks on request. I have set up the following macro which seems to work fine:-

^c^c-insert;HVLV-UB610x125;;;;

However when pulling in a specific block the drawing the layer becomes 0.

Ive tryed adding this additional macro line before the above one which fixes the problem :-

^C^C-LAYER;M;E-LIGHTING-CEIL;C;R;;;ORTHOMODE;1;^c^c-insert;HVLV-UB610x125;;;;

However now the block retains its layer properties ......ie  E-Lighting-Ceil (or what ever I name it) but it drops the block

in RED, instead of its original colour.

Question is Im looking for a macro that will bring in my block as per ^c^c-insert;HVLV-UB610x125;;;;

but also bring it in to a drawing on its original layer that its saved to.

please note that even thou the first code brings it in at layer 0, the blocks layer is also inserted into the DWG however its just not associated to it ..... hence the user has to select the block once he or she has brought it in and then change the layer from the layers manager manually. This is not ideal.

just to recap i just need a macro that will A) bring in a block from a location. And B) keep all the properties it has when it is brought in.

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Tool Palette Macro To Insert Explode Block

Mar 29, 2013

It's been too long since I created one of these for Toolbars. I need a macro that will insert and explode a block. I just need the block's content, not the block itself. I can create a maco to explode a block with no path, but can't remember how to include the "*" in a file with a folder path to explode the block while its being inserted. Because of spaces in the file name, quotes (") must be around the path.

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Convert List With String Or Lists Of Strings To Text

May 22, 2013

Someday the light bulb is going off and I will understand mapcar and lambda. However.....I have a program that reads an excel file sheets. Sometimes the sheet only has 1 column, sometimes 2 or more.

I need to convert the saved values from the sheet to a list with the text spaced evenly. Unfortunately the text lengths vary. I would like a subroutine to pass the list to and return a list of strings with text aligned with padded spaces allowing for the longest text in each column. I am using the new list in a dialog box with fixed_width_font=true (so columns align).

Example 1-

(setq List1 (list "Col1-Line1" "Col1-Line2" "Col1-Line3-longer" "Col1-Line4"))
(AlignText List1)
returns
"Col1-Line1"
"Col1-Line2"
"Col1-Line3-longer"
"Col1-Line4"

so no padding needed

Example 2 -

(setq List2 (list (list "Col1-Line1" "Col1-Line2" "Col1-Line3-longer" "Col1-Line4") (list "Col2-Line1-longer" "Col2-Line2" "Col1-Line3" "Col2-Line4")))
(AlignText List1)
returns
"Col1-Line1        Col2-Line1-longer"
"Col1-Line2        Col2-Line2       "
"Col1-Line3-longer Col2-Line3      "
"Col1-Line4        Col2-Line4      "

 Example 3 -

(setq List3 (list (list "Col1-Line1" "Col1-Line2-longer" "Col1-Line3" "Col1-Line4") (list "Col2-Line1-longer" "Col2-Line2" "Col1-Line3" "Col2-Line4") (list "Col3-Line1-longer" "Col3-Line2" "Col1-Line3" "Col3-Line4")))
returns
"Col1-Line1        Col2-Line1-longer Col3-Line1-longer"
"Col1-Line2-longer Col2-Line2       Col3-Line2       "
"Col1-Line3-longer Col2-Line3      Col1-Line3       "
"Col1-Line4        Col2-Line4      Col3-Line4       "

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Changing Text In Attributed Block

Dec 21, 2012

I am trying to speed up some basic drafting of text revisions. In the P (plumbing) we call out the fixture units for a water pipe, along with the fixture units, the pipe size changes.

Is there any way to add numbers in an attributed block? (I have a lisp that works on text & mtext, but not attributes)

1.1. Example: Like if you have a block with two attributed text fields, the 1st field {x} is a number (fixture unit), and the 2nd field {y} is a number (pipe size).  I would want it to only add the 1st text fields. [If possible then change the 2nd text field according to a changeable chart. (see #2)]

1.1.1.   This is how the block looks like: x (y")
1.1.1.1.   x could be any number from 0.5 – 10,000 (only using 1 decimal place, and only as needed)
1.1.1.2.   y could be any number from the following list: ½, ¾, 1, 1¼, 1½, 2, 2½, 3, 3½, 4, 5, 6

Is there a way like in excel that you can set up a formula that will give a numerical result depending on other input? Like pipe size that change depending on the number of fixtures. There would need to be two different formula, one for hot and one for cold values (The value would be set at the beginning of the job; typically these values would not change later in the job). This could be separate text or if possible using the attributed block as described in #1.

2.1.    Example: Like if you have a block with two attributed text fields, the 1st field {x} is a number (fixture unit), and the 2nd field {y} is a number (pipe size).  I would want it to change the 2nd text fields according to the value in the 1st text field. If the value in {x} is 0.5 – 1.0, it would result in ½; 1.5 – 7.0 = ¾; 7.5 - 17 = 1; 17.5 – 36 = 1¼; ect.

2.2.    In excel it would be =IF(x)<1,"1/2",IF(x)<7,"3/4”,IF(x)<17,"1",…{all #’s in between} …IF(x)>5000,"6")))))

AutoCAD 2010 :: Lisp To Replace Text With Block / Or To Draw Circles Around Mtext

Mar 23, 2012

I need to lay one of our existing blocks ontop of every power outlet on a floorplan (the power outlets are currently shown as a simple shape (eg. either a rectangle, triangle or circle) with text next to it.

There are hundreds of power outlets, so if there is a lisp routine for replacing any part of the power outlet with the block, eg. replacing text/mtext with a block or replacing a pline with a block.

I have found a very successful lisp routine for replacing circles with blocks, but this obviously only works on the power outlets that are shown as circles. So a simpler way of looking at it could be a lisp for drawing a circle around mtext/text then I could simply use the circle to block lisp to place the blocks.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Convert Block Back To Title Block Or Border

Feb 15, 2012

We have a title block and border which is used in MS.  If this is referenced using AMTITLE then it acts as expected.  We issue these to some external people to create our drawings but they have been using CTRL-C and V to place them in a new drawing.  ACAD does now not see them as a Title block or border but as blocks.  We have a process to bring DWG's into SAP and this will check for a title block and border.

The issue is we need to fix these drawings and currently this means removing the borders and title blocks and placing new ones then adding all the attributes again.  Is there a way to convert the blocks back to how they should be?

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Macro In MNL File

Aug 27, 2013

I used to have a short, one-line macro in my MNL file that would read the location of the currently active drawing, find the parent directory of that drawing (truncated to 3 levels) and open a Word document in that directory that is named after the project.

For example, if the active drawing path is

"Q:/Projects/12345 Cold Storage/Elevations/Phase 1/North Storage.dwg"

this macro would open the Word document named

"12345 Cold Storage.doc"

that was in the directory

"Q:/Projects/12345 Cold Storage"

If the file did not exist, it would be created named the same as the 3rd level directory.

After i wrote this, it sure sounds like a lot, but as i remember, it was a short, one-liner. Of course if a lisp routine would be better, that's okay too. I understand beggars can't be choosy.

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Execute Macro In CUI Menu

Oct 30, 2013

I have tried to find information about this, but I am having a hard time. So i need to explain what I am doing.

I would like to be able to use commands stored in the cui menu file, initially this is done using our tablets, but our tablet drivers cannot work with windows 7 and autocad, nor can i get any that do, (i have tried over 20 different drivers).

So, instead of making a lisp function for every macro. I need to be able to use some of them.

Can I execute one of these macros using "MENUCMD" ? , I have all the information i need to do it but cannot figure it out menucmd does not seem to have an option to actually run the macro, and if it does It only seems to be able to do that with popup menus.

 Currently i use the ribbon and add them in there, but want to know If i can do so just with lisp. and create my own on-screen tablet menu.

Here is an example of one of the macro's in the cui i need to use.

And here it is in the cui menufile:

UNDER-> <MacroGroup Name="User">
<MenuMacro UID="MMU_WT1[A-5]">
<Macro type="Any">
<Revision MajorVersion="17" MinorVersion="1" UserVersion="1" />
<ModifiedRev MajorVersion="17" MinorVersion="2" UserVersion="1" />
<Name xlate="true" UID="XLS_6804">WT1[A-5]</Name>
<Command>^C^CDTEXT C .125 0 </Command>
</Macro>

So.. that is my question how can i use that command via lisp..

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: How To Use Civil Menu Macro

Oct 7, 2011

I would like to use the following macro from the LDD 2004 Civil menu (yes, we are still using 2004!): ^C^C^C^P(cd_mnl)(zz_sdsk '(ad_xsutl 2));LDD.  The macro is Zoom to Station from the Cross Section pulldown menu. How to use this in a LISP routine, or an equivalent LISP command?  (The user won't be supplying the station number.  The station number will be extracted from a selection set of objects with attribute blocks with equivalent station numbers.)

Each cross section has an attribute block associated with it, which lists all the details for that section, including station.  The macro must be using that block (listed in a database, perhaps?) to find the station in the dwg.
