AutoCAD Inventor :: Can't Select Sketch Constraint

Oct 12, 2011

I can't seem to get inventor to select a given parameter inside a sketch. It keeps giving me an error.

All I want to do is to have inventor Select / Highlight a parameter inside of a sketch so the user can clearly see it in the window. Ive tried heaps of different selection options, I just can't work out what ive done wrong.

Sub GetParameter()Dim TargetName As StringDim oCompDef As PartComponentDefinitionDim oSketch As PlanarSketchDim oConstr As DimensionConstraintDim oParam As ParameterDim oCmdMgr As CommandManagerTargetName = d0 ' parameter nameSet oCmdMgr = ThisApplication.CommandManagerSet oCompDef = ThisApplication.ActiveDocument.ComponentDefinitionFor Each oSketch In oCompDef.Sketches For Each oConstr In oSketch.DimensionConstraints If oConstr.Parameter.Name = TargetName Then Set oParam = oConstr.Parameter oSketch.Edit Call oCmdMgr.DoSelect(oParam) Exit Sub End If NextNextEnd Sub

AutoCAD Inventor :: How To Create A Motion Constraint

Mar 14, 2012

Attached is an assembly that I created. It includes a timing belt, 2 pulleys, 2 shafts, and some profile lugs that are attached to the belt with a false tooth.

1. why can't I constrain the profile lugs around the radius of the belt? Also, when I created the belt and put the holes in it, they disappeared because they ended up in the radius of the belt.

2. Is it possible to create a motion constraint to this model, so that it moves like a real belt?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Angle Constraint / Drive Constraint

Jul 30, 2012

I am designing a vertical axis wind turbine just for some practice (just started using Inventor) and everything was going smoothly until I tried to "animate" it spinning.  First, I set up a work plane that goes through the center of the structure, and then I clicked angle constraint "explicit reference vector." After watching several youtube videos, I figured that I should click on the work plane, click on another reference point, and then click another point that would be orthogonal to those two (right?). Well after I choose the first point, Inventor will only allow me to choose the center axis  as the second option (which I think should be the third option).

AutoCAD Inventor :: VBA Creating Path From Derived Sketch Block

May 21, 2013

I've got a problem with creating Path in Inventor VBA. I've created a source block definition in SourcePart.ipt, derived it in DestPart.ipt, placed this derived SketchBlockDefinition in Sketch3 and draw 3 extra lines. Now i want to add a SplitFeature with SplitTool as a Path of 3 lines, but first i need to create this Path. There is no problem with creating path from this 3 extra lines, but when i want to create path from lines that belongs to derived block - an error occurs.

Below is sample code (also included in attached file - DestPart.ipt). Try run it with DestPart.ipt as an active file. When Inventor is prompting for Selecting Sketch Entity first select one of 3 extra lines, macro ends with no errors. Then run it again, this time select one of 3 lines that belongs to SketchBlock - an error occurs.

When you try to add SplitFeature (Trim Solid) by UserInterface Button "Split" there is no problem with any set of 3 lines.

Sub CreatePathTest() Dim oPartDoc As Inventor.PartDocument Set oPartDoc = ThisApplication.ActiveDocument Dim oPickedSketchEntity As Inventor.SketchEntity Set oPickedSketchEntity = ThisApplication.CommandManager.Pick(kSketchCurveFilter, "Select Sketch Entity") Dim oNewPath As Inventor.Path Set oNewPath = oPartDoc.ComponentDefinition.Features.CreatePath(oPickedSketchEntity)End Sub

AutoCAD Inventor :: Create Parts List Macro - Position Based On Style

Oct 19, 2011

I have a macro that I acquired somewhere (possibly these boards, can't remember now) for placing a parts list.  I have modified it somewhat to change the location on the sheet where the list gets placed, as well as a sub that starts the autoballoon command afterward.

The macro is set up to place the parts list in the upper left corner, by adding the parts list width to the Mini Point of the border.  This works perfectly well, except that we have two parts list styles, and they are differently sized.

What I would like to do is have the macro detect the parts list style, and change the offset value depending on which style it finds.  I am an extreme novice with the API, who basically knows just enough to tweak sample code a bit, and have not been able to find anything close enough to use as an example.

How I should go about this, or even post some samples of something similar?  Current code is shown below.

Public Sub CreatePartsList() On Error Resume Next ' Set a reference to the drawing document. ' This assumes a drawing document is active. Dim oDrawDoc As DrawingDocument Set oDrawDoc = ThisApplication.ActiveDocument 'Set a reference to the active sheet. Dim oSheet As Sheet Set oSheet = oDrawDoc.ActiveSheet ' Set a reference to the first drawing view on ' the sheet. This assumes the first drawing ' view on the sheet is not a draft view. Dim oDrawingView As DrawingView Set oDrawingView = [code].......

The macro does not have to set the parts list style - that is controlled by the drawing Standard.  It just needs to detect what it is, and place the list accordingly.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Error In RSe Clone Commander On Derive From Part With Sketch Block

Nov 19, 2012

I have a surface model of a bin that I am going to use as a master for deriving sheet metal parts for each side of the bin. After creating Sketch 9, which defines the mating flanges of the sheets, I repeatedly get the error noted in the subject when I try creating a derived part from this file.

I narrowed the problem down to the sketch block I used to define the square holes or more specifically a dimension that appears in this sketch block. I originally drew the circle with the square around it within Sketch 9 and then used the Create Block command. Then I patterned the block along the edges and made the pattern symmetric about the mid point of the edge and placed the hole half way out on the flange. (Flange width is set as a user parameter "FlangeWidth"(1.5") and distance to hole is "FlangeWidth/2" or even just a raw value of 0.75").

Now once this dimension is added to the sketch it will also appear in the block editor for the 5-16 Carriage Square block. If this is deleted from the sketch and the block definition and the pattern of holes are left unconstrained in this one direction a derived part can be successfully made. BUT if a dimension is added to the sketch it will trickle down to the block definition and now a derived part will fail...

I realized that my holes are to be on the midline of the flange so I can constrain them there without a dimension and so I can work around this. I just didn't think dimensions to geometry not included in a block were added to the block definition.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Assign Sketch Symbols / Title Block To Defined Layer

Apr 1, 2013

I have a need to send files saved from Inventor.dwg to AutoCAD.dwg to suppliers, however due to the quantity of files "size", I need to purge them in Autocad before I e-mail. The problem I have is that my template Inventor.dwg is 1 mg due to Sketch Symbols, plus added file size for the views etc. When I get to Autocad to purge them, my Sketch Symbols and Title Block is on the "0" Layer. I have to select everything that is on the "0" Layer and change the layer to a different layer to start a LISP routine that does a, Erase All, Purge All, to get my file size down. I have not found a way to change the layer that Sketch Symbols are created on or reside on by default or Title Block either.

Any way to do this Inside the Sketch Symbols, inside the Title Block, using the styles, anything?

I am just now going through a iLogic course and read that Layers can be hidden. Can iLogic be used to change the layer of "SketchSymbols" or "TitleBlocks" and or used to purge all Sketch Symbols during the SaveAs to Autocad.dwg process?

I did some trouble shooting and realized that once I converted it, it no longer allows me to make edits. Is there anyway I can get around this? do I now have to re-create the entire assembly to make this edit at the assembly level? If so this would really suck since it is a rather large assembly.
